For anyone having trouble finding an elf, I have a shelf elf that we don't use (I wanted something bigger), we only used the book, if someone wants to pay for shipping I will mail it to you.

I've already offered it to someone....sorry.

Anybody have examples of "introductory" letters they sent with their elf?

I'm trying to put together a little book of my own.... I was going to use one from a site I found (the story) but I don't care for it now that I have it put together so will make something up on my own.

We are going to host and elf this year for DD who is 5 and DS who is 19 (special needs guy) I would love to see some of you intro letters etc.....

This sight http://organizedchristmas.com/magic-elf-holiday-tradition has a lot of print outs. Including a letter, passports (don't think we are doing that), elf report book and more.

I haven't found a letter I like yet so I might make my own up. Each DS is getting a elf and I am considering assigning one to each child and they will show up w/ a letter addressed directly to them. Not sure just yet. Still trying to work out the kinks. That way each can be specific to them, give the elf a name etc.
Basically, the letter I have seen say that Santa is very busy this time of year and he sends elf(s) to special houses to help watch and report back to santa. Our city is very different from the N. Poll so watch out b/c at night the elves like to explore. Some even have Santa tell the kids they are responsible for their elves and if the elf makes a mess they have to clean it up. Help the elf get back to their home in the mornings. They can't talk but they can hear you and see you. If you want to communicate they have a elf notebook that you can leave notes in and they will reply in them over night. They report to santa what is going on and on Christmas Even when Santa visit to bring your presents the elves will get back in the sleigh w/ him to retunr to the NP to start planning for next year.

Did you get the tall one? I saw them. I had a hard time finding enought of the 9" med sized one. They had a snow man I wanted for me but had to pass. LOL Ended up going to 2 marshalls and one TJ Max to get them all. I was hoping to find 3 different ones but ended up w/ 2 that had matching outfits. At least the faces are different.
Glad you were able to find them.

So I'm excited about the elf I got on ebay however... .I went to marshalls just 'cuz.. and it's right across from where I work.

So my Marshalls annalee elves were VERY unorganized and "shoved".. I tried to go through as much as I could. I found many santas and some scary mice and cats... then I found some elves. Some were BIG. I had one in my hand for $12.99 to get.. he was quite cute.. there were 2 left. Then I stumbled across one little guy. He's smaller than the rest. Was only $7.99.. (originally 19.99) and I actually think he's cute! (not a huge fan of this style but ... they're bendable!)
I took a pic of him on my steering wheel so you can see the size... and his lil face.

So... I have to figure if I'm going to use him or the other.

I got the same one, same price! I'm so excited to start this tradition. Doesn't he look a little naughty??!!

OK, has your elf arrived yet? Ours came tonight. DD9 was so excited and can not figure out how it got under the tree. Any ideas to share??? What do you do with the crackers and water each night? This is our first year to train an elf.:santa: :santa: :santa: :santa: :santa:

Got mine from Marshall's. I opted for the bigger one, as I'm putting it up high, mine is the red one :-)

Here's my letter:

Dear Children,

I’m pleased to inform you that your family has been selected this Christmas season to host one of my special helpers. Meet Buddy, the Elf. Buddy is new to my family hosting program, so you’re going to have to keep a close eye on him. He may get into some mischief from time to time. Please also be aware that Buddy has strict instructions to prepare a report on the behavior of all of your family members. Buddy will present his report on Christmas Eve, when I pick him up for his return to the North Pole with me.
Buddy is very excited to be in your home this Christmas. Please be aware that your behavior is being reported on and will determine if you are on the nice or naughty list and if you receive an elf next holiday season.
Your Friend,
SANTA

Our elf was "found" when we got out the Christmas decorations. She had a note -- "Do Not Open Until After Thanksgiving 2008". Today's elftivity (that's what I'm calling the things we're doing each day to celebrate the spirit of Christmas) -- I adapted since I have an older child who wouldn't go for the elf watching him, but is interesting in doing fun things! -- anyway, today's elftivity is to start the Advent calendar. I have 24, I'm just going to put them out the night before so they'll meet our needs each day.

Maria

Our elf arrived Thanksgiving morning w/ his book. He was waiting on the table in the kitchen. In true Disney fashion, the kids (dd6 & ds4) named him Mickey Elf!
