Saving Dole Whip Float Money (Update 2/27: TR Link Posted!)

Drats...so close.:headache: I did one last check on my letters and I had messed one up. I had an "s" instead of the 2nd "l". Yep..."Randall" it is. :thumbsup2

Ohh I get to play!

Randall

one of my favorite villains!

P.S. Happy belated Birthday!

:cool1: Yay! Now you're also on the scoreboard! Haha, I don't think I have a favorite villain ...

Thank you!

I thought I had all of the letters, but maybe not. I'm having trouble with the unscramble and it's not adding up to Randall (I'm one letter off). :confused3

Oh well...my DH says dinner is ready and I'm starving. Maybe next time. ;)

Aww, I'm glad you got to play though! Hope you have a yummy dinner!

It's okay, I'll be posting more rounds hopefully every day this week! I like being able to provide some sort of entertainment to my fellow DISers!

Character Scrambler: Round 9 Answers

Congratulations to not_Joanna_eggs who got the correct answer of Randall from Monster's Inc! Here are the answers and a little bit more detail for some of them!

Clue #1: Dorothea Redmond = R
I was initially going to ask about the colors of the stepsisters' faces, but this was definitely more of a Google clue!

Clue #2: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride = D
I remember going on this ride and being very afraid! I couldn't remember why until a few months ago, I looked it up on YouTube. Um, we used to go through hell? Haha, I guess that's why I was so afraid! I also remember that I just didn't feel secure in the ride vehicle. Like it was just a car, so I didn't feel protected and sheltered the way that you do when you ride something like Haunted Mansion!

Clue #3: La Cantina de San Angel = L
Curious to know how good this new counter-service restaurant is! I can see stopping by to get an empanada or nachos! The prices on AllEars though are somewhat expensive, so I'm hoping to see pictures on trip reports of big plates!

Clue #4: Nescafe = A
Strangely, I think I'd be one of the people who actually likes Nescafe! I want to try it! I do NOT like real coffee, but I do like coffee/cappuccino type drinks as long as it's early in the morning, and I know I'll get the caffeine out of my system.

Clue #5: TriceraTop Spin = N
I had to include this ride even though I never rode it before because it was in the latest round of Joni's waiting game! I felt so clever figuring out the ride based on the picture, but I didn't check to see that there was another page of guesses after the page I was on. Someone had guessed it about 45 minutes before I did! Haha, I thought that was silly of me because as I got home from my grandfather's birthday dinner, I saw that so far no one had the correct answer and thought, "Woohoo! I still get to play even though I was away all day!"

Clue #6: Last Tour to Endor = A
One of my students who graduated 2 years ago came back to visit on Thursday. We're both Disney fanatics, so I told him that I'm going back in February. He then told me that he went in August and that his family was there for this special event! It was interesting hearing about all the things they did although it wouldn't really be something that I'd like. Howard would have loved it though!

Clue #7: Lanyard = L
Howard and I started pin trading this past April when we went to the Disney Character Warehouse outlet and bought pins for 50 cents each! Too bad we only bought 20 or 25 of them!!! Agh, we didn't realize it'd be that fun! The CM we talked to said it was the cheapest way to get into pin trading and that they rarely do that sale. We should have bought them ALL! Oh well. We're going to look to trade more in February, and I'm already eyeing this really cute lanyard on the Disney website! It's black with the outline of different color Mickey heads on it.

Lastly, the reason why I chose Randall is because I just saw someone's trip report that included pictures with Sulley and Mike. It got me thinking that it'd be funny to have the character of Randall for meet and greets! I actually think it'd be rather creepy because Randall's face is rather frightening. He just always had that scowl on his face!

Crazy NY Weather!

Hi everyone! Thanks for still sticking with me. It's been one crazy week. I've had to write "To Do" lists every day and send an update with what I've done to Howard every so often because it keeps me accountable. It also helps me from going insane since I can "cross off" things once in a while and know that I'm making progress. With the first week of school madness, I didn't even get to enjoy my birthday! Oh well, I guess at my age, it's not that big of a deal anymore! My last fun birthday was at the age of 14!

On top of the craziness of work, we also had some crazy weather. If you've listened to the news, we actually had 2 tornados here in New York. Yes, I said TORNADOS! It's just insane that it happened here! It mainly affected certain areas in Queens, which is where a lot of my family lives. They're okay, thank God!

Here are 2 pictures from one of the guys that goes to my church:

tornado1.jpg

tornado2.jpg

That isn't his car, but I believe it's around the area where he lives. So many cars were crushed as the trees came down. Many church friends and even my cousins and aunts/uncles didn't get home from work until really late at night. It took some of them 5 hours to get home, but again, I'm so grateful that they're okay.

The guest speaker today at church said he was driving when the storm got so bad that no one could see. People just stopped on the highway because they couldn't do anything. His van lifted up off the ground for a bit. The pastor then told us that suddenly there was this huge "gust" of "air/wind" (he didn't even know how to describe it) and all the glass from his van broke and shattered with the force of it. He obviously was okay since he spoke today!

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know what's been going on in my part of the small world. I'll hopefully be able to post a round of "Character Scrambler" every day this week like I did when I first started the game. I also need to post an update about my mascot! Don't worry, it's still Mascot Mickey from our April 2010 trip ... there's just a slight change!

Wow, that is crazy about the tornadoes! Glad your family is OK.

Hope school is going well!

Oh my gosh - those are some crazy photos! Glad that everyone is okay. Tornadoes scare me.

On a fun note - looks like our Feb. trip is definitely on! We'll be missing each other though. I think we may still be in FL, when you are arriving, but we may be down in Miami by then. Bummer.

I was going to ask you if you had family/friends in Queens or Brooklyn (where the 2 tornadoes were confirmed). Glad everyone is ok!

What is scary is that tornado that did the damage in those pictures you shared was from an EF1 tornado. Thats minor compared to what they can do. Scary!

Can't wait for the next puzzle. I finally have time to participate! :goodvibes

Yeah, it's just an odd thing for New York!

School is just hectic and a lot of work, but I'm still very grateful for my job. I love the kids, and I can't imagine doing anything else even if I just want to crawl into bed after a day of work!

The weather suddenly got really bad where I am, but it definitely wasn't as bad as Queens.

Aww, boo to missing you! Maybe we'll have another chance in the future!

Yeah, that's the frightening thing. I know there are definitely tornadoes that are much worse and damage could have been much worse too! I'm so thankful that everyone's okay.

Yay for being able to participate! I'll have another one up today. I haven't made it up yet, so it'll be a while since I'm also writing up lesson plans and grading.

Figures the one day I catch your scrambler before an answer is posted and I can't figure it out! :rotfl:

My dad lives in the Bronx (we're just outside of the city) and I panicked when I heard the weather reports. He was fine though-- no damage of any kind in his neighborhood. So glad that everyone you know is physically okay.

Awww, well the answer's still not up yet. Maybe I'll give a hint! Is the issue with unscrambling the character? Or are you missing answers to clues?

Glad to hear your dad's okay! It's just so scary to know that that's something that could happen here.

I was trying to avoid Google. I didn't want to cheat! But as soon as you posted that I got Copper! From Fox & the Hound. Yes?! :goodvibes

:cool1: Haha, I love how you didn't want to "cheat" with Google! When DFi plays, he has to use Google for almost every clue because he doesn't know Disney the way I/we do!

But YAY! You're now on the scoreboard!

Thats what was making me so mad. I've been to DTD so many times and I couldn't figure out the name of Mickey's Mart! :headache: I felt like I had failed as a Disney fan :sad1:

Character Scrambler: Round 10 Answers

Congratulations to Jennifer48 who got the correct answer of Copper from The Fox and the Hound! Here are the answers and a little bit more detail for some of them!

Clue #1: Night of Joy = O
When I read about this event, I immediately wanted to go! Of course, it doesn't fit into a teacher's schedule, but oh MAN, I love almost every single one of the artists/groups that were there. The ones that I listed in the clue for the game are the ones I would have loved to see so much! I think I started loving Third Day because of the radio (Star 99.1!). Then I heard ONE song from BarlowGirl on the radio years ago, and I bought the CD when I saw it on sale online. Haha, just because of one song! But I ended up loving them too. I remember "finding" Francesca Battistelli on MySpace when I was searching for Christian artists. Then months later, I started hearing her songs on the radio, and I felt so special for "discovering" her before she got really popular! Lastly, Casting Crowns is just amazing because their lyrics have touched my heart during so many difficult experiences. "Praise You In This Storm" is the song I listened to all the time when Howard and I broke up years ago. I've also been to 2 of their concerts, and I love how they explain the inspiration for the songs or explain the significance. Oh, and I love their former drummer, Andy Williams! Do a search on YouTube for some crazy performances!

Clue #2: Electrical Water Pageant = P
I can imagine just relaxing on property but out of a park to watch the EWP! I don't know if it'll ever happen, but maybe one day it will!

Clue #3: Swedish Chef = E
I think it's funny that we accept the fact that the Swedish Chef doesn't speak properly. I mean, I remember accepting that the teachers in the Charlie Brown cartoons didn't talk either. Oh, and of course, we only saw Nanny's legs in the Muppet Babies cartoons. Haha, I guess I just accepted all these things as a child!

Clue #4: Chess = C
Um, I wonder if those skeletons playing the game know about Kingdom Keepers ... haha, that's all I'm going to say about that.

Clue #5: The Great Piggy Bank Adventure = P
My hope is to play this game in February! I've done "Where's the Fire?" twice, but this one was really crowded. Maybe it's something that has to be done in the morning. Haha, if I can get away from the idea that I need to hop on Soarin' and Test Track right away!

Clue #6: Mickey's Mart = R
I think this is such a weird store because it's like you're in an alley shopping for things you shouldn't be buying! It was really crowded there last time, but I was a little confused because a lot of those things can be found elsewhere. I was, however, really interested in the surprise grab bags. I wanted to buy one! I just read a thread before that said that the mom and son buy it for like, 2 weeks after their trip is over so that they have some Disney at home. I might do that OR I'll do what I want to do with Howard ... buy each other a gift during the trip that is opened on the way home! It'll be a "good" thing about going home!

Lastly, the reason why I chose Copper is because I must have watched the beginning of the movie about 20 times back in elementary school! After lunch, we'd either have recess outside or we'd go into the auditorium to watch a movie. The teachers or aides in charge put on The Fox and the Hound on SO often, but they would keep playing it from the beginning! I don't exactly know why we kept watching the same parts over and over, especially since it was a VHS. Someone must have been rewinding it all the time. Of course, I also remember when one of my classmates gave them Grease, and we started watching that. However, if you've seen the movie, you know that Danny and Sandy or frolicking on the beach together at the beginning. Some kids were wide-eyed with that and making comments, so that had to be turned off. Then they popped in The Fox and the Hound ... again.
