Saving Dole Whip Float Money (Update 2/27: TR Link Posted!)

Hi Rachel! Sorry I've been a bit behind lately. I have to say that I love your game, I'm just always logging on way too late in the game to figure it out. oh well.

We are still discussing whether we can swing a Feb. trip, but the dates are still a bit unsure. I have a feeling we may end up just missing each other. Basically what we are waiting on is this....my best friend is getting married in April and her cousin is planning on throwing her a shower in Feb. in Miami (that's where she is from and has a lot of family). So depending on the date of the shower, we are going to try to base our trip to Disney around that. We figured, why not make a family vacation out of it and then we can go to both her shower and Disney! I was going to throw her one up here so I wasn't planning on traveling to FL, but this could be a better idea.....I'll keep you posted on what we decide. It would be fun to have a Dis meet!

I was soooo excited! I was jumping up and down :rotfl2: I feel so accomplished:woohoo:

Hehe, I understand the feeling!

As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short, but I'm allergic to beer, so I couldn't have the beer cheese soup at Le Cellier, and I had the Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage appetizer. It was served with these cheezy grits type thing - mmmmmmm...

DH's dad still talks about O'Hana's 9 months later - he loved it. It was good - not the best meal I've had at Disney - but good. The service was pretty stinky for us too. Like our waiter would disappear for 20 minutes at a time. The wings are great I randomly crave them - and we go to the lounge just to get the wings and a lapu lapu! The bread pudding was amazing too. It is a TON of food - even with a group with 2 guys that eat more than I could imagine - it was a ton of food.

Even though they don't pipe in the music, you could go to Kona (one of my favorites) earlier and go out to the beach and watch Wishes from the beach.

I haven't eaten at Cape May, but the 2 times that we walked by it, the seafood smell was overwhelming and unappetizing - and I LOVE seafood. I'm not sure I could eat there just because of the smell.

Just my 2 cents. I love making ADRs for trips! I'm so jealous :cutie:

I saw the pics of the sausage appetizer, but I wouldn't want to risk it because of the spiciness. If someone else ordered it, however, I might steal a bite or two ... hehe.

I think we can deal with bad service. Haha, if anything, it'll give me something to write about on the TR. I think being with a group of people might make it less noticeable because I'm imagining this rolicking good time filled with laughs and smiles, hahaha! I'm really curious about the bread pudding because the one time I had bread pudding, I didn't like it. Plus, I don't like bananas all that much, but for I'm still very curious to try it for myself!

Boo to the no piped in music. It is still visible though, right? We'll probably be hitting MK the night before, so I'm hoping we get a good view then.

I should walk by Cape May to see what that seafood smell is all about! I think Howard and I might go resort exploring again on the day they go to WWoHP.

I am becoming obsessed with your game already...I am determined to get at least one! It's so fun to play!! :goodvibes

Usually I am already at work by 7:30 so I miss the early morning rounds, so I need to work on checking right after work to see if there's a late afternoon round.

Keeping your schedule in mind! :thumbsup2 I'll do the morning rounds once in a while because it might be entertaining to those who have office jobs who have access to computers. Haha. Having a teacher's schedule makes it a little bit more difficult!

Sorry my Ohana review was so negative, but I did just want you to know about our experience! I feel so honored that you passed along my thoughts to the others lol.
Now, I do know people LOVE Ohana (obviously, or it wouldn't be so difficult to get reservations there), so if you think you'd like the food, go for it! It just was not for us. Most things are VERY sweet-- especially the noodles and salad (something in the dress). We prefer a more savory palate. The wings were just disgusting, though. The potstickers were gray inside-- and I love making the frozen potstickers. I couldn't eat more than one of these. Too gross. Sorry for more negative thoughts, just want to give you the whole picture of our dinner.
AGAIN-- it IS popular, so if you think you'd like that Polynesian style of food, go for it!

I'm glad that you shared your review even if it was negative. Haha, I think it's important to get the opinions of friends  so that's why I shared it. Only Howard responded at this point, so I don't know what Dani and Ray think.

I'm still very curious to taste some of the things, like the salad dressing, because I've read raves about it. I know it's not likely for everyone to enjoy certain foods, so I have to make sure I go in with normal expectations! Same with Le Cellier! I know I've read a few reviews of people who didn't love it that much! I'm afraid I'll fall into the category of one of those people who doesn't like the cheese soup!

I'm going to try to post the game at different times of the day, so hopefully everyone can play! Haha, just not during school hours. I've gotta be edu-ma-cating the minds of children!

Yeah, when I thought about the dates, I figured we'd miss each other. If you don't have to go during Presidents' Week because DD's not in school yet, it's best to avoid it since all the other Feb weeks go back to low crowds. Still holding out on the tiniest possibility though of crossing paths!

Character Scrambler: Round 5 Answers

Congratulations to peterpanlover96 who got the correct answer of Mulan from well, Mulan! Here are the answers and a little bit more detail for some of them!

Clue #1: Electric Umbrella = U
It was only during this past trip in April did I realize that that's how this place was decorated! Of course, it was because Howard was with me!

Clue #2: Storm Trooper = M
I think Howard would absolutely love to be at WDW during Star Wars Weekends. Unfortunately, the timing of it (May and June) doesn't really seem to work in our schedules. I'm not that crazy about Star Wars, but I admit that the Disney characters dressed up as Star Wars characters can be super cute!

Clue #3: Visa = A
Just make sure they don't mistake your younger brother as your son and have him in all the pictures ...

Clue #4: The Hollywood Brown Derby = N
Curious to know what YOU think of the Cobb salad if you've had it before. You'll read my personal opinion about the salad when I eventually get to it in my TR!

Clue #5: Family = L
Why did I ask about 'ohana? Because that's where we have our other ADR!

Lastly, the reason why I chose Mulan is because each 8th grade graduate from this past year along with a few of the teachers (myself included!) were Disney princesses! Of course, I was Mulan, haha. One student replaced my face with Mulan's using FaceInAHole and put it on my classroom door. Now that the school year has started, I'm reminded of my graduates starting high school, and I'm also reminded of how much I'm going to miss them! It won't be the same without them there; they're the first class I taught for all 3 years of middle school!

AHHH!! Did I get it?! I'm so excited! It is beyond creepy how long I have been stalking your PTR tonight. I'm not proud, but whatever it takes!

By the way, I'm so sorry you feel sick! I hope you are feeling better now. Fridays are always so tough because the week really wears everyone out I think. I hope whatever has you down doesn't last long. It stinks being sick on your weekends!

Haha, you're hilarious! I do the same for your PTR too. My heart starts racing, and my fingers go numb when I see that you've updated! I told myself that I might have to stop checking as often on Saturdays now since I've gotta rush to do some work in the morning, so I can spend time with Howard in the afternoon. Back to work means back to work stress. Of course, I could say the opposite ... because I'm on the computer doing lesson plans, I might as well keep checking, haha.

By the way, I'm so sorry you feel sick! I hope you are feeling better now. Fridays are always so tough because the week really wears everyone out I think. I hope whatever has you down doesn't last long. It stinks being sick on your weekends!

Thank you! I'm feeling a little better after the nap, dinner, and some tea, but my eyes are still half-closed. I had one of my co-workers who's a mom feel my head when we were at work, and she said I felt warm and my eyes were glazed over. Then later on, another co-worker told me to just go home early since I couldn't do anything else to set up my classroom (waiting on the delivery of a cabinet for my room that has no shelves, cabinets, or counters ... only room in the school that has NOTHING, haha). She was like, "Uh-oh, we're losing Rachel over here!" because I was listening to their conversation, but I was just dazed.

Driving home was difficult because I had to keep mentally telling myself to concentrate. I was praying the whole time for God to keep me alert and safe! Of course, out of all days, a long thin piece of metal flew out of the truck in front of me (I didn't even know that the guy had anything in the truck because otherwise I don't typically drive behind any trucks). Thankfully, I wasn't going that fast because even when I'm on the highway, I just stay at the exact speed limit and drive in the right lane, so I slammed on the breaks just a bit, swerved a little to the left after the car in the left lane drove passed, and drove over the metal piece on my right side since I saw how it fell on the ground and knew it'd be okay. Oy, couldn't wait to just be home!

I got home, got a cup of hot water and brought it upstairs. I put the mug on my desk to cool a bit and just fell asleep before I even took a sip! Hopefully, I'll be okay by tomorrow because I need to do a lot of work, AND Howard and I had plans to go to NJ to eat out for my pre-birthday dinner!

Character Scrambler: Round 6 Answers

Congratulations to therussells08 who got the correct answer of Pumbaa from The Lion King! Here are the answers and a little bit more detail for some of them!

Clue #1: Flame Tree Barbecue = A
We're not going to get to Animal Kingdom, but this is one of the top 3 reasons why I want to go so badly! I'm so excited to try the food in a cooler month of the year, of course. Haha, the other 2 reasons why I really wanto go are as follows: Dinosaur and seeing everything that's mentioned in KK2!

Clue #2: Cheese Sauce = U
On top of discussion about the table service restaurants, I also recently emailed the group about the counter service options at MK. Other than Columbia Harbour House, which is a must, I mentioned the 3 restaurants that have cheese sauce! Yes, it's that important. Howard knows how much I love it and gets a lot for me. He's not a dipper like I am. He can get 3 cups of a dip so that there are 2 for me and 1 for him, yet I'll still end up finishing his because he eats fries plain. I love fries in any shape or form, but with a dip, I'm more in love!

Clue #3: American Idol Experience = M
This is always going to remind me of Sarah (wdwgirl03!). I know that when Howard and I go back to DHS during our Disneymoon, we'll go and watch this. Gotta experience it all at least once, right?

Clue #4: Boulangerie Patisserie = P
Cheese plates interest me. This one has just huge hunks of cheese, and I'm more interested in the extra fancy-shmancy ones. But it's just cute that with the sandwiches and pastries, you can also get cheese! Cheese is awesome. The sharper it is, the better it is! Howard would disagree. He doesn't understand why I LOVE bleu cheese.

Clue #5: Captain EO = A
I remember how this used to be a must years ago when I went to Epcot as a kid. I don't remember it though, so I really want to see it in February. I hope it's still running then; they didn't give a date of when it would close, did they? I distinctly remember one time we were waiting in line that I was afraid it would be a scary show!

Clue #6: It's Tough To Be a Bug = B
I love 4-D type shows, but I hate anything that smells bad! I mean, this is gross as is the skunk stench on the Figment ride. Yuck. I think I knew about the buzz on the chairs or something before we first tried it years ago, so I didn't lean all the way back during the show. Hehe, I cheated.

Lastly, the reason why I chose Pumbaa is because in junior high, one of my friends and I were obsessed with the ...

Are you achin'?
Yub yub yub
For some bacon
Yub yub yub
He's a big pig,
Yub yub
You can be a big pig too! Oy!

Haha, I know most people would say it's "yup yup yup," but I don't hear the pronouced p. Besides, it's cuter this way. Haha. Anyway, my friend and I used to sing it all the time during 7th grade because we thought it was the funniest thing EVER. Years later, both of us are planning our weddings; she got engaged exactly one month after Howard and I did!

So I think we will miss out on crossing paths if we book a Feb. trip. :headache: Looks like the shower may be around Valentine's weekend so most likely we will try to do disney either the week before or the week after (if we have enough money for a Disney vacay that is). My BFF works in education so she needs to be back for President's Day actually for training so that weekend was out. Which means we don't have to go during Feb. vacation week. But we are planning on a weekend trip to NYC in early December.....I told my husband that for once, we are going to eat somewhere other than Chinatown for all of our meals!

Also, wanted to put in my two cents. I already talked about Ohana a bit in our TR I think, but we happen to enjoy it. DH LOVES the bananas foster bread pudding and dreams about it before we go to Disney. I mostly enjoy the atmosphere and the shrimp cooked on that open fire grill is delish. There is a ton of food (especially meat) there though. I do like the salad and I actually enjoyed the wings. Everyone has different food preferences though.

I am also holding out for a possible DISmeet still.....

YAY! I'm so excited that I got it! :woohoo:

I'm glad you are the same way over my PTR! John was cracking up at me all evening because we were watching The Killers on MOD and every five minutes I would pause it and run upstairs to check if you had updated! When you did post it I was freaking out trying to answer it fast enough. Then I confused myself because I thought Pumbaa was only spelled with one 'a'. Thanks to Google I realized my mistake in time to win the round! WOO HOO!

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear you were feeling so bad! I'm glad you are feeling a little better, but I hope you are all the way better by tomorrow so you can have a fun and productive weekend! That is so scary what happened to you while you were driving! Thank God you were able to avoid hitting the metal. People need to be more careful with what they put in the back of their trucks!

Getting sick at work is the worst! I think I told you that I have vasovagal syncope too. Well, usually it only bothers me when I get really really hot, but the other day at work I was right in the middle of teaching a lesson to my sophomores and I got SO dizzy. It was literally all I could do not to pass out. I started getting tunnel vision and I could barely walk to my desk without falling down. Thankfully it passed really quickly and I never blacked out. I felt fine afterward too, but it caught me off guard. I realized later that I had been sitting on a desk up front awkwardly (I was sitting in front of the class and leaning so I could talk about something on the SmartBoard) and I stood up too quickly. I think that's what did it. I won't make that mistake again!

Anyway, I'm sending hugs and pixie dust your way! Feel all better soon!

Boo to the fact that we'll most likely be missing each other in Disney. Let me know when you come to NYC though! It's not quite that easy for me to get to the city, but if you're there on a Sunday, I'm in the city for church!

I think we'll still end up going to 'Ohana. If we skip it, I think I'll always wonder what it'd be like, and I think going with at least 2 other people would make the experience more fun since it's sharing from a communal plate. I'm sure it's just a difficult thing to keep consistent since the food is constantly being made with the expectations that it'll be eaten right away. I'm sure that's tough to manage.

YAY! I'm so excited that I got it! :woohoo:

Haha, I did my version of the pausing thing with Howard! We were playing Mario Party on Wii two weeks ago, and when the next round started, I would run to check since I was 3rd to roll the dice. And that was after Howard came over and I said, "Okay, I'm not going to check anymore." Haha, I just can't help it! I think I'm going to tell myself that I'll be missing rounds from now on because then I won't be upset if I do miss it. If I go out and you post, I'll have expected it! Haha, what's wrong with us?

I'm feeling a bit better today. I'm hoping it lasts. I had a bit of frustration this morning because I was so set on getting work done, but then I couldn't find something I needed to cut so I could get it laminated today at Staples! Then that threw off my entire morning because I was so set on getting that done first that I couldn't do anything else after the fact. I FINALLY found it though, and I just wasted an hour of my time ... arg.

Ooo, I'm glad you didn't pass out in class! I almost passed out in class once, but it wasn't vasovagal syncope related ... it was vertigo-related! I couldn't see a thing in class, and I quickly sat down and I know my head dropped, but I kept thinking, "I can't pass out ... I can't pass out" especially since it was a class I wasn't that close to or comfortable with (yes, ending a sentence with a preposition ... whoops!). Thankfully, I didn't, and I started feeling better until I went to my next class. I ended up having to call the office to tell them that I couldn't even stand. Went to the doctor that day and found out I had vertigo! I still went to work the next day though because it was the start of the NYS ELA exams! I didn't want my students to feel uncomfortable without me there since I was supposed to proctor the 6th grade class. I had to walk the halls while holding on to the walls! I couldn't get up from the seat because I was afraid I'd tip over, so I rolled the seat to write on the bottom half of the board. Once the tests were over, I think I was absent after that.

Hehe, jealous you have a SmartBoard!!!

Yay! Glad to know you're still having fun playing. Howard and I got back from dinner and a LONG wait at Staples, and I signed on just to play anyway because I figured it'd be posted. Then I saw that you haven't done it yet ... haha, so now I'M the one that's nervous and waiting! Haha :rotfl:

Darn - I'm going to have to start stalking your PTR

It's fun to see everyone else having fun! Everyone's still tied at 1!

Character Scrambler: Round 7 Answers

Congratulations to disneybarbie who got the correct answer of Dopey from Snow White! Here are the answers and a little bit more detail for some of them!

Clue #1: Kidcot Fun Stops = O
Matt did a little bit of this in 2008, but he focused on the Future World one. I think it's such a clever idea to have this for kids to do. Then I heard about the passport, but of course, that costs money. With a good printer though, I could technically make my own because DISers have made them to print! And I'm digressing from Kidcot ... oh right, I was thinking about how much more I would'ved liked WS as a kid if they had this, but then I realized that it wouldn't have made a difference since I would've been much too shy!

Clue #2: Miss Tilly = Y
Though I won't ever make it to the water parks, I love that even these are themed so well with the stories as to why the boat's on the top of the mountain or why Blizzard Beach has snow.

Clue #3: Briar Patch = P
This will always be my favorite gift shop only because it was the first gift shop where I actually purchased a souvenir! In 2008, I bought a Mickey keychain. When my friend went back, I asked her to see if she could find the Minnie one to match, but alas, it was gone already. Sad. But it did open the door to buying souvenirs that I really really really like that make me happy when I see it!

Clue #4: Behind the Seeds = D
I'm very into holding a pumpkin or something else that's made in the shape of a Mickey head despite the fact that I hate seeing them actually in the enclosed plastic case.

Clue #5: Liberty Tree Tavern = E
If there weren't so many good CS options at MK that I want to have in February (CHH + Pecos Bill's!), I'd think about going to LTT for a sit-down meal. I just don't want to spend that much money on a meal especially if it means taking time out of the park day!

Lastly, the reason why I chose Dopey is because he's the absolute cutest out of the dwarves! I actually used to really like Doc the most because I thought he was smart. This past year, Howard and I finally sat down to watch Snow White (boy, is that a long, slow movie!). I didn't realize Doc was kind of ditzy! Haha, so that just brought Dopey up to #1.

Hahaha, I'm so glad we are equally obsessed with each other's games! John and Howard need to start a support group for significant others to people who are way too competitive and obsessed with Disney games! :rotfl:

I'm glad you are feeling better, but I'm sorry you had a less than productive morning! I hate it when that happens to me. It throws my whole day off!

Oh my gosh, I'm glad you were okay in class! You are one heck of a teacher for going to work when you could barely walk! Your students are lucky to have you! :) I was so freaked out when I almost fainted last week, but I'm glad I realized what it was from. Now I can prevent it from happening again in the future!

I don't think I could function without my SmartBoard. I use it constantly! Although, sometimes my students are better at using it than I am!
