A new PTR!! I've been MIA on the DIS pretty much all summer, and I'm excited to see you are taking another trip, Lynn! It's been really fun lurking on your other TRs, so I'm looking forward to some more adventures to read!

I also wanted to ask you: what do you love so much about SSR? It's on our short list on new places to stay at Disney, others include both Port Orleans resorts and the Polynesian.

Is it Congress Park that is the closest to DTD? What are the closest sections around the main building, assuming that's where the boat is. I went there last year and walked around for about an hour but not I cannot remember how close the boat was to the main building. But I do remember really liking the look and proximity to DTD of the resort.

When you previously stayed at SSR did you have a rental car or drive? We don't plan on doing either, pretty much ever, so I'm wondering if it's hard to get around without a car. I am a runner too so it's not the walking but the time getting from point A to B, is it good sized spread out?

No we did not rent a car. We had no problem getting to the parks. Walking to the main area was probably a 5-10 min walk depending on how fast you walk. Not bad at all.

With the new Free Dining promotion that was just announced there are some changes from the first promotion announced earlier this year. With these set of dates, if you book at a Value resort you only get the Quick Service Dining Plan for free. You would then have to upgrade and pay the difference for the Basic Dining Plan.

The Quick Service Dining Plan includes the following:
* Two Quick Service Meals per person, per night
* Two snacks per person, per night
* One Resort Refillable Mug per person, per package

So no, you would not get any Table Service meals included in that plan. If you stay at a Moderate, Deluxe or Deluxe Villa you get the Basic Dining Plan included in your package for free. The Basic Dining Plan is the one you're probably familiar with, which includes 1 Table Service meal, 1 Quick Service Meal and 1 Snack per person per day.

So if you want that dining plan you'll have to upgrade to a moderate resort. However you should check which is cheaper...upgrading to a moderate resort or paying the difference between Quick Service DP (which is free with a value resort package) and the Basic DP. The Quick Service Plan is usually 29.99 per person per night. The Basic DP is 39.99 per person per night. So you're looking at a $10 difference times 2 people...so $20/day to upgrade to Basic from Quick Service. If it's less than $20 a night to upgrade to a moderate you're better off switching hotels. But, if it's more than $20/night to upgrade to a moderate, you're better off just keeping your Value resort and upgrade the dining plan to a Basic DP.

Lynn!!! I have some super secretive good news...You seem like the most perfect person to tell since I think its too early to tell anyone in real life yet. Anywho...I'm kinda dating this guy right now, and I say kinda because he's in the army so its hard...but he said that while he's deployed I can start plan our wedding and he said that I can plan it at Disney. It probably won't be for about 2 years or more, because right now he's thinking he could be overseas for a year and a half and we all know how those dates always get back...but I just wanted to tell you that there is probably a Disney wedding in my future!! I'm going to go re-read your wedding tr now!

YAY!!! You will love it Tracy!!! SO yummy! I'm not a fna of Olive Garden either, that is why I'm worried. We will see. Depends on what I will have planned if we will eat there or not. Most likey we will because we spend a lot of time at DHS.

I hope they have it when you go. I think the soups are seasonal, so they change. I really hope you can have it. If not don't worry, all the other stuff is just as good.

I hope they have it when I go also. From what I hear, they pretty much always have the little grilled cheese sandwich but it just works so perfectly with tomato soup.

Hey have you by chance heard of strayer university? they are mainly an online base college(but have a campus real near me along w/ offering in classroom classes and online classes)--I have an interview tomorrow for admissions secretary--I wanna make sure everything goes good and that if I am offered it I think I will take it but want to make sure it wont be something I have to worry about falling apart in this economy--ah! haha.. also on top of the not so good position i am working in .. we had a "meeting"out of the blue yester in my department saying they are cutting our hours.. we were open 24hrs like the casino right? now were not anymore.. and that effects the 2 ppl who work overnight.. and then now we'll have to many people and they pretty much talk to us in terms that they think were dumb.. but they were saying in around about way theres to many people working in this dept. that no 1's job is safe or "guarenteed" and that we could be cut .. but overall yeah all bad news and so the casino is not doing good.. ( or from what I can see too its bad and my feelings were right after getting out of that meeting yester) even more of a push for me to get out of here ASAP!
