Running The Half, Dis Meets, Deluxe Dining,& SSR! BACK. Had a great time!

Well I read a review recently of The Wavefor breakfast. The menu looks great, and the food looks really good.

I also may add on Mama Melrose, for dinner or lunch. Not sure yet because it kind of reminds me of an Olive Garden type place. This means we will have to cut out some CS meals, but really that should not be a problem lol.

So anybody have anything to say about these two places??

Lynn, although Mama Melrose get's alot of negative reviews and we've never actually eaten at an Olive Gargen... we loved it and I always recommend it to everyone.

Hey Lynn,

I'm alittle late but just read through everything!

I Love your meal choices!!! :thumbsup2 Once my wedding and disneymoon get closer i'm going to have you make my ADR's for me! :rotfl2:

I loved your NYC pics! I've never been to WOD but it looks awesome.

Oh and those beach pics are adorable! I like the one of your dad body surfing!

I can't wait to read more! popcorn::

Oh yea and I added you on facebook! I'm addicted to it as well!

Didn't know they served breakfast at the Wave!! I ate at Mama Melrose once. It was ok. I saw you have an ADR at Tutto. I'd keep that one & forget Mama!

Hey girl! Thanks!:thumbsup2 I was about to go OMG your a travel consultant and then I remembered we talked before haha and I asked you about where you worked etc. So far no luck w/ AAA :confused3 I reallllly want to get in esp. with being a Disney Specialist. How exactly did you apply for AAA and how did your process go--I just don't want to come across as "bugging" so I'm trying to think of what to do.

Thanks for that tip--how exactly though can you go about getting a PIN CODE? Would you by chance have any that you are aloud to share or give or for us to use because we are doing our booking through AAA. eveeen though I wanted to do it on our own(my boyfriend and I) but my future MIL aka his Mom wanted to use AAA--god knows why I could plan our Disney vacation with my eyes closed. I just need some assistance with this dining plan!:goodvibes THANKS!

I really lucked out getting my job. I saw it listed on careerbuilder.com and applied. I had 2 interviews: one with HR and another with the branch manager and then waited for a call back. The whole thing took a couple of weeks to do.

Disney emailed me the PIN code. I think it's just a random mail out to past guests. Your name has to be on it in order for you to use it. When I called for my clients, they asked for a name and address and if neither were correct or the person the pin code was mailed to wasn't traveling, they wouldn't accept it.

You'll get a few extras with the MYW package through AAA. You get Disney's Story Time. I haven't been to it yet but I've heard good things. Planning to go in September. :)

I would definitely do the Wave for breakfast. For Mama Melrose, I would just make an ADR and go if I felt like it then. I know thats kinda frowned upon...but its not the most popular place in DHS nor is it a credit card guarantee. You can always cancel it once you get there too. (thats what I'm doing for LTT, since my mom claims she really wants to go there but I don't think she will once we are there!)

I think we are definitely going to add on The Wave, and I think we are going to try Mama Melrose.

OOh you are doing LTT lunch right? I saw a review on it, and that made me want to have lunch there. We are going to try it.

I have never been to either place! I want to try the Wave eventually because you gave it such a rave review. I like that they give you a mini-grilled cheese with your soup! Too cute. :)

Mama Melrose I've always heard mixed things about. I was going to make a reservation there for my trip but decided against it and went with Sci Fi instead.

Oh yeah you will like the dinner at The Wave. So good.

Yeah I have heard mixed things. I'm going to have to look for reviews, just to see what the food looks like. OOH now I love SCI fi!!

Thanks for that article Lynn!
I can't wait for the 7th movies! :
:

No problem!!! Me too!!

IM here Im Here- and I will be at the MEET woo hoo:

YAY you're here!!!!! I know!! I'm so excited!! I can't wait to see you and Gean again!!

We ate at Mama Melrose's last May and we liked it. But then again we love anything Italian! I think it's worth a shot. The food was pretty good!

OOh that's good to know because I love Italian food as well.

I just wanted to say hi, and that I enjoy your trip reports. I've lurked along through all of the rest of them...

I also admire your running accomplishments!
I really want to try the family 5k, since I know there is no way I could run 1/2 a marathon, but I don't know if I could be ready in time, and I'd have to switch our reservations (we will be at AKL Jan 24th-30th!! can't wait-I've never stayed at my home resort and am excited to check it out!)

Hey!!! Thanks for coming on and saying hi!

Oh you should try it! A 5K is a great start. AHH I love AKV! You guys will enjoy it! It's gorgeous.

I have heard mixed reviews about Mama Melrose but I am still booking it for the Fantasmic meal. Bobby wasn't thrilled with the other choices so Mama Melrose it is. :thumbsup2

Ohh ok good! Glad you're going to try it. I want to try the Penne Vodka from there!

This is going backwards a little but I was on The Little Mermaid's website and I wanted to share this!

http://disney.go.com/theatre/thelittlemermaid/#/drewseeley/

It's a link to a music video of Drew Seeley's (Prince Eric on Broadway) "pop version" of Her Voice. You can even download the song for free! :cool1:

OOH cool!! Thank you for posting this!

AHHH!!! LYNN-I am soo excited :yay: LOL it looks like that there is going to be free dining during the time we are going now!! FINALLY--we were stressing out.. this is our 3rd Disney trip together and the other 2 times we had free dining-we couldn't imagine it any other way.. esp. with $$ and the economy--it looks like though we MIGHT have to pay for it with Disney Visa--but we'll work it out..

If you or anyone else hears anything else about the FREE DINING OFFER *not* for VISA card holders because it might be tough putting the entire balance(which is the catch to get the free dining). Just send me a PM or anything! Thanks so much....
Hope your having a good weekend Lynn along with everyone else !!! :tigger:

PS-has anyone seen any new Disney books yet?? I need something to read at work..
I have the book omg im drawing a blank.. its blue w/ stars and the castle on the front cover.. ahh "Walt Disney World Secrets something" ahh hehe help Lynn.. AND I just recently saw though "MouseJunkies" i might pick that up and give that a shot...can't really go wrong with a Disney book .. or can you lol:confused3

Yeah I got the DIsney visa free dining offer! I'm glad that you guys will be able to get free dining. Hmm I'm going to the book store tomorrow, I will have to check it out.

Hi Lynn! Happy weekend to you...I've been reading along and keeping up! :) I just sent you a friend request on Facebook so that's me! I do have some Disney pictures in there from our last trip so you can check them out. I'm one of those sort of paranoid people so I honestly am not on there too much and don't post a lot of personal stuff, I'm actually pretty secretive and spend more time on the Disboards than I do anywhere else! I have a great collection of friends - Disney friends, rockstar friends, European friends, high school friends and work friends! That's what I like about Facebook

Enjoy the rest of your weekend...

Heather

HEY Heather!! I'm glad you added me!! Thank you. I just left you a comment.

Hope you had a nice weekend!!!!

I know that they've been emailing people pin codes for free dining during select dates. I've gotten two and have a few clients that have come in with them. Keep your eyes open for one!

Yeah they are!!

Didn't you guys love The Wave for dinner? I think it was your TR that I was reading that made me decide to do it for our trip in Nov/Dec (as long as I can get it of course.) I think you should try it for breakfast too!

We just did Mama Melrose in April. It was like Olive Garden level food. Definitely not any of the good places you can get in NY or NJ but not bad either. I would do the Fantasmic package if you're going to do MM because F! was just packed while we were there at least. Anyway, thats my opinion. If you go into MM knowing you'll be getting Olive Garden type food, you'll enjoy yourself!

Yeah we loved the wave.

Oh no...see that's what I was worried about. we will just get the package at Brown Derby since we are going there. See I don't like Olive garden food. Only thing I get from there is soup and salad.

But maybe we should try it just for the heck of it.

Hey girl! Thanks!:thumbsup2 I was about to go OMG your a travel consultant and then I remembered we talked before haha and I asked you about where you worked etc. So far no luck w/ AAA :confused3 I reallllly want to get in esp. with being a Disney Specialist. You will be able to get it some how!!!!!

I ate at Mama Melrose for dinner and I really enjoyed the meal, it was quite good!!!

I have heard great things about the Wave!!!! Hope you have an easy time of choosing what you would like to do!!!

Ok good. Glad you liked it!

Yeah the wave is awesome!!

Lynn, although Mama Melrose get's alot of negative reviews and we've never actually eaten at an Olive Gargen... we loved it and I always recommend it to everyone.

HEy!! How are the plans coming along? I have to check your PJ out.

It is awesome! Such a cool store. HAHA my dad was nuts with the body surfing lol.

Yeah I saw you added me!!! YAY!

Didn't know they served breakfast at the Wave!! I ate at Mama Melrose once. It was ok. I saw you have an ADR at Tutto. I'd keep that one & forget Mama!

I didn't either lol! Glad they do. We are going to keep Tutto, I love it there. We have extra credits so I figured we could try it. IDK, I have to read up on it. I may want to add Spoodles in.. I know it's under new management now.

I really lucked out getting my job. I saw it listed on careerbuilder.com and applied. I had 2 interviews: one with HR and another with the branch manager and then waited for a call back. The whole thing took a couple of weeks to do.

OOH what is Disney's Story time?

I just posted on your May TR and am ready to join in on this!

Hey!! Welcome!

Hey Lynn, how are yah today?! Did you hit by chance by any nasty storms last night? There was a confirmed Tornado in Clinton,NJ(not that near you but still!)
We had reallly wicked weather--the lightening--esp. cloud to ground haha reminded me of Orlando's storms!

Speaking of storms down there, the poor people in Volusia County got hit by a confirmed Tornado too! It started out as a water spout though...

Hows your class going still? As crazy as this sounds coming from someone who couldnt stand college :scared1: I was THINKING.. justttt thinking.. about going back and getting my Travel/Tourism degree..heres the problem.. the one university that has it.. is 45mins away.. obviously I am not living on campus in a dorm etc. I was never into that and I'm to old for that haha .. plus its not me.. but I have to see if I can take most of the degree online?
Theres another place near me.. I have to research more into this but : Strayer University(its mainly online).. they have a Business Administration with concentration in Tourism. So thats a little to much business and not enough concentration in travel/tourism unfortunately.
So yeah.. its frustrating for me.. because get this.. we have:
-7 MAJOR Universities around me..
-3 Community Colleges
AND yet NO ONE has a travel/tourism program(except the 45-50min away one called East Stroudsburgh,PA--near the Poconos!) ! can you believe that! haha
but i'm still working myself up to maybe do this.. A)I have enough college school loans on my hands and cant afford it.. and B)try to get myself to do school because I realllly hated it, only because I never got to take what I wanted to! I liked high school, that wasnt bad.. and i LOVED LOVED my Wedding Planner Certification class... now if I can focus on travel & tourism esp. Disney.. I think I will be fine!

LOL sorry for the long rant..college is just a soar subject w/me..

OOH what is Disney's Story time?

It's in Expo Hall at MK. It's for people who book through AAA only (and who purchase the dining plan). I've never been but from what I know, a character reads a story to the audience. It's usually a face character, most likely Peter Pan or Fairy Godmother. After the story, there is a photo op. It seems cute. I'm going to try to get a spot when I go in Sept.

I Havent been to Mama Melrose, I think my sister went with her boyfriend... I cant wait to hear your review

Actually, the 6th and 7th books are my favorites! I was disappointed that they cut most of the end out of the movie and felt they could have done a better job with Dumbledore's death scene. There was a lot of stuff they left in there that I think was complete overkill (ie Ron and Lavender). It didn't annoy me in the book but in the movie it was just like, enough already! Plus they cut out characters completely which leads me to believe they're going to do the same thing in the movies about the 7th book...

I think my expectations were just too high.

saw the movie and I agree with what you said. I enjoyed the movie but wished to see more from teh book. I was also wondering where Bill/Fleur were....and Kreacher too since he helped Harry in this one...oh wait was that in book 7????
I read book 6 and 7 back to back and mixed stuff up.

Lynn...your beach pics are really fun !!! no beach for us.....we are waiting to go back to WDW in Sept...so no trips until then. We have to suffer in the pool instead.;)

He helped Harry in both. He trailed Draco in the 6th and captures Mundugus in the 7th. But Bill & Fleur shelter them in the 7th book so...why no mention of them being together at all? Makes me wonder how much they are going to change in the 7th movie...

hey again girl!! update: lol I feel like i'm working at a Disney travel agency(at work--farrr from it).. i've been doing nothing but Disney stuff today and planning & texting etc. welllll :yay: it looks like we are staying at POP now! I am REALLLY excited about that--yeah we're bummed that we can't stay at Port Orleans afterall.. but hey I look at it as we will be going there the rest of our lives.. heck hopefully even living there.. well not AT Port Orleans:laughing: WE WISH! .. but in Orlando. ... so its no biggie! I was hoping to get into All Stars only because that places is just a little more special to me and my boyfriend because thats where we first stayed on our 1st Disney trip together in 2007( ASM-all star music!) ..we had an amazing time.. and plus our room was in a SUPER quiet area.. we werent bothered by loud kids lol or loud noises or anything!!

So YAY!!! FREEEEE dining:worship:..staying at POP October 29-November 5, 2009, got our park hoppers etc.. yay!

Hi Katie. Yeah we did get a storm last night. It wasn't that bad though. Eeek I do not like tornadoes.

My class is going great. I really love it. I'm starting to love math as well. I did not like it at all in school, but now I love it.

Ugh that stinks Katie. I guess you could try doing it online. IDK if I would like online classes though.

OOOH I saw that in somebody's TR once. It does look really cute.

We are trying Mama Melrose Labor Day weekend so I will let you know how it goes.

OOh could you please!!! Well I'm going to be reading your TR so I guess I will see it there lol!

I Havent been to Mama Melrose, I think my sister went with her boyfriend... I cant wait to hear your review

Oh I'm going to have to ask Lex. Thank's Christina.

Hey at least you have the pool lol! And you get to go to Disney!!!

Yeah I love Tutto a lot!!!

YES!!!! That's awesome!! You will love Pop. I want to stay there, I think it looks like a fun place to stay at!!! WOO HOO for free dining!!!

Hey!!! Yeah it's crazy lol, but a lot of fun. I love chatting with everybody on here, and making friends.

HAHA you would have a ton of TRs on here if you posted them lol.

I would have a lot to do. I think if I did one for our September trip, it might be a little to late to be writing one... I am thinking about it though.

A new PTR!! I've been MIA on the DIS pretty much all summer, and I'm excited to see you are taking another trip, Lynn! It's been really fun lurking on your other TRs, so I'm looking forward to some more adventures to read! :goodvibes

I also wanted to ask you: what do you love so much about SSR? It's on our short list on new places to stay at Disney, others include both Port Orleans resorts and the Polynesian.

Is it Congress Park that is the closest to DTD? What are the closest sections around the main building, assuming that's where the boat is. I went there last year and walked around for about an hour but not I cannot remember how close the boat was to the main building. But I do remember really liking the look and proximity to DTD of the resort.
