Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I assume an under-3 would just come along with us if we were to get tickets to a preview event, right?

Do you mean for free? It's possible but I would not assume anything at this point.

Alright I know we don't know for sure but this is more of a "what would you do?"
We are going to be in the World 4/18-4/22, 4/20 is our Animal Kingdom day. We have added 4/17 for 1 night at the Yacht Club pretty much so the kids can get their fill of the pool. Should I try for the hard ticket on 4/17, hope for a FP+on 4/22 and switch our days around or just hope they do previews on 4/20? I'm thinking 4/22 would be an everloving nightmare crowd wise and we have 4 kiddos one who is only a year so the thought of battling crowds all day on the 22nd doesn't sound like a good time to me.

I don't really have any solution for you, I'm more in the same boat and can commiserate! Originally, our trip was scheduled for 4/15-22 with a split stay. We added an extra night to go until 4/23 at our second hotel, AKL, when I heard about the opening night, but had not heard about the previews. Same thing - not sure what to go for, especially since I'm reading the dinner packages may not be available until 5/1. My hope had been to get a dinner package or FP for opening night, even though it will be a madhouse - standby would be rough! Our scheduled AK day currently is 4/18, not one of the preview days. Not sure if I should shuffle everything? Would love to do the 4/15 preview, but that's our arrival day and it's a lot of money if anything goes wrong, plus usually go to MK on the first night. Would shuffle to do one of the other previews, but wish the park was closed to non-ticket holders like it is for 4/15...

Sry, I haven't read this entire thread. What is "Dibb"?

A few pages back, someone copied a link to the Dibb, which is a website like this one, with a thread talking about the RoL preview events. I think the link is at the bottom of page 43 or 44?

Well I will be happy to commiserate with you! I am leaning toward the 4/17 preview at this moment. We usually only get down there once a year and because of baby we haven't been in 2 so I really don't want to miss seeing the show by a day. And I really can't stand the thought of fighting opening day crowds more so for my hubs who is not the disney lover I am. I'm hoping with the preview event you will get to see all the new nightime entertainment.

I feel the same way - we probably won't be back for a couple of years, so it would be tough to just miss it! I'm hoping that all of the night entertainment will be there as well, but I'm not sure. I thought I read that the evening safaris start on the 22nd, but not sure if that's confirmed or not? I'm leaning toward the 17th too. It seems the least disruptive to our plans. That's our first night at AKL, so our plan was to eat at Boma and then explore the resort. I made an earlier reservation in case I can book the preview. I probably will still try for a FP (if available) for the 22nd, and then maybe discuss it with DH in the unlikely event that I hit the jackpot and get both. I'm a little apprehensive about the mob on the 22nd as well, although my kids are a little older and there's only two to keep track of (11 &9). Really I had thought that the 22nd would be the only option that we might be able to nail down, so I was already mentally preparing for it! If we end up getting a preview, after I convinced my DH to stay and extra night in order to see it, that should be an interesting conversation! D'oh!

There will be. It was confirmed in DPB comments. We just don't know when they will be loaded into the system.
Yay! Can you share where you found this? I looked through all the comments/answers for the blog announcing the live chat and I can't find it. Would like to bookmark the info. Thanks so much!

Park hours shows the park closing at 6:00 PM. Will that change? Or will the ROL and nighttime safari just be "after close" events?

Just changed our reservation from Boma to Tusker House (though debating Yak Yeti instead) for 6:30 PM, hoping that gives us plenty of time to unwind and still get to the show.

Yes

There was also another question on the DPB about if FP would be available. They mentioned how it would be jammed opening week. Hopefully that "yes" includes FP for the dates in April *fingers crossed*
  • Any word on whether fast passes will be offered? I can imagine it will be jammed opening week.

    • FastPass+ is planned to be available for Rivers of Light. Guests may be able to make their plans through My Disney Experience soon.
