Does this new rule about no money changing hands effect this swap at all? I am so excited about using this stoller in august........I hope nothing changes.

Maddi......You are amazing! I have never been a part of this swap before, but am so looking forward to it! If there is anything a newbie could do to help with the transition, please let me know.

Hi. I was one of the first DISers to use one of the Royal Carriage swap strollers back in Sept. of 2008. I think we had #1.

My use of the stroller was over when parkers momma took over organizing the swap so I have never had contact with her.

But I must admit I check into this thread time and again just to see how things are going.

I LOVED the stroller swap. It saved my family a LOT of money and it was convenient.

I paid $10 for 10 days not $20 a week. And the swap hasn't even been in existence for 52 weeks. I do not understand why parkers momma was getting so much heat on that other thread. Or why those who have never used the swaps care so much about them.

I don't know why this bugs me. But I just wanted to say my peace. I too am one who thinks running a swap is hard work and I didn't care/ don't care if swap organizers make a profit. It was the $10 risk I took. And it was the best $10 I have ever spent!

Hope the swaps continue and all of you enjoy your Disney vacations!

I just want to add my thanks to parkers*momma for maintaining this swap. In my book, she has jumped through wires to keep the strollers going.

I used it in Feb and at that time it was only $10. We were at Disney for 3 days and I didn't know if both boys would be able to keep up to the walking. I knew the youngest one needed a stroller and I was worried that the 7 y/o would get tired and whiney and ruin my well-plannined trip :rotfl2: so I hooked up with the Royal Carriage swap to save myself money from renting the Disney double stroller. There was no way I was going to dish out $100 for 3 days. People just don't get it -- Would my 7 y/o ride in a stroller on a daily basis? No way. Has he ridden in one since he was 3? Nope. Does he whine when he's terrible? Yep. Would that ruin my vacation? You bet it would. Did I have a stroller that was suitable for both? No. I was willing to spend the 10 dollars to keep peace of mind, but the 100 dollars would have me thinking otherwise. We ended up only using the RC only one day and the 7 y/o did just fine walking, but I was very glad I had it as a backup plan.

And even if parkers*momma kept out a little for her time, I wouldn't have had a problem with that. There is no way I would do all this work without a little "perk." But, I know she isn't doing that, so all the payment she gets is a huge high-5 from me! Let's all give her a high-5 together :dance3:

The $20 was for the duration and that just recently came up. But I'm so glad you enjoyed the use of the strollers.

everyone...please I have to make something perfectly clear as I don't want to jeopardize this swap any farther.

If you HAVE NOT sent payment...Please DO NOT send payment. Any money exchanging hand will get this thread locked. I don't want to see this happen. I recieved a couple PMs on this. Please be aware, the PM's can be read by any MOD that wants to monitor this thread. Even suggesting this could get the thread locked. I don't want anything to happen to the swap. I realize you were looking at the best interest of the swap, and I sincerely appreciate it, but it's not worth losing the thread. I truly appreciate those wanting to still send in the $10 or $20 but not at the cost of the swap. We'll manage with everyone working together for the goodness of the swap.

If you mailed out a check before the rule change and I haven't recieved it yet, I wll mail them back to you. I take this very seriously. I don't want the thread locked and the swap to go away. So if a check comes to me, I will gladly mail it back to you to keep this swap going.

If you would like to donate an item when it is your turn or if you see something is needing replaced. That is great! We will gladly accept non-monitary donations. We will definitely keep the swap informed of any issues a stroller might be having. It will not only be done in a post but it will be listed within each swap calendar.

I have deleted any reference to money on the main portion of the thread plus my records here at home so I wouldn't even know who was going to pay what....so see I wouldn't even know how to mark anything. LOL! It just better if we follow the rules from day one than to get busted for something as not following the rules.

Again, I sincerely appreciate those who still want to send payment but I can't accept it. My love for this swap and DISBOARDS will not allow me to do anything that would jeopardize the swap or my ability to participate on DISBOARDS. I hope everyone understands this decision.

But I do want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for the lovely words. This is helping me more than you will ever know. To those who have chosen to withdraw from the swap, I am truly sorry why you made this decision and hope that once you see what a wonderful bunch of DIS'er are here you will chose to return if your dates are open. We can and will make this swap work...I don't have any reservation about that nor do I have any doubt in our swappers that they won't go that extra mile just as we have in the past.

Since no money can exchange hands now, but a donation of a seat, rain cover, wheel, etc. is acceptable, how about this...

Maddi, you know how long in general these parts last, when treated properly and not abused. Maybe you can let us know how long each part will last, so each swap can see when parts need to be replaced. So, say if stroller #1 needs a new seat by July, maybe one of the June swappers can donate the seat. That way we know in advance what we will need to keep the strollers going, and they will remain properly maintained and safe. I think that is what you had in mind anyway, I am thinking to maybe be a little more proactive about it, but to stay in line, keep it totally voluntary.

I am signed up for December, hopefully the strollers will last that long, but in any case, even if my stroller needed to be replaced, I would be willing to contact the person before and after me, and see if they wanted to purchase a new one with me to donate to the swap. Would that be allowed?

I agree, making sure that we have a good idea about what will be needed and when will help keep us informed of what we can donate, etc. i know for me, not using the swap till September, i am nervous about what will be needed, the shape of the stroller and having people really help by donating, keeping it up, etc. I know you cant make it a rule that something be donated by each swapper, but letting us know ASAP will certainly help. I do think that this could greatly benefit the condition of the strollers, if we actually donate pieces and parts and care for them, we are vested in it. excellent job Maddi!!!

Hi everyone,

Great Minds think alike! I just emailed everyone so we are all on the same page with the swap. :)

Now to answer a few question that wasn't in the email. Money can't exchange hands between any Dis'ers from what I understand. Not just swap leaders and swappers. Any Dis'ers...It was a good thought though.

This is what has been ordered and either shipped to WDW or was shipped today:
#1-new seat
#2-new seat
#3-new front wheel & new bar
old #4-new seat
#4- New wheel/axle
Old #5- new wheel/axle and new seat.

If anyone is wondering why we ordered new parts for the old strollers, it was because we were going to use them as back ups incase a stroller went missing or damaged beyond repair. This was done before the new rules.

This items brought or will bring all of the strollers up to perfect working order. If the same care that was given to the stroller as it was since the swap started, everything should last about 5 months. The parts aren't that expensive, it is overnight or two day shipping the items to Disney is a KILLER! Buying and shipping strollers to and from Disney is a KILLER! To ship one down is about $30 and about that to ship one home (DebraW76 had #5 shipped back to her)

So if everyone uses extreme care with the strollers, we should be good until August. Don't forget, we have the two stroller as back-ups or for parts if need be incase something happens and no one wants to donate a new item.

we have backups that have brand new seats/wheel sitting here. We will be fine. If there is a will there is a way. Faith and determination are two powerful things to have!

If everyone takes care of the strollers and is able to donate what is needed I am sure that the strollers will last!!!

Maddi....on another note I noticed that alot of dates opened up for the end of August beginning of september.....if you need a stroller sitter while I am there Aug 27th- Sept 4th let me know. We have 9 people in three rooms so I am sure that we can tuck an extra stroller somewhere if need be.:thumbsup2

:scared1:you are way to scarey!:scared1:

I just told NELEP the same thing!!!! Not two seconds ago!!!

We definitely can use stroller sitter for any/all open dates. It will keep the stroller safe and out of Luggage services.

I'll just put your name in the slots. Thanks so much for offering!

anyone else want to be a stroller sitter for open dates?

Don't know if you saw my earlier post, but we can stroller sit/do maintence while we are down there for 9/5 - 9/13

I just told my DH that I might have to leave for Olrando at moments notice to "babysit" for a "friend." He's not buying it. :rotfl2:

Did not mean to scare you:rotfl:

I have marked down that you have me penciled in to sit for RC #1&2. I will keep my eye on the list to see if any changes get made.
RC#2 works really well as I will be dropping off Tinkerbell to the same person!!

Got you in #1 and #2 unless you just want one stroller and I'll remove you from one of them. Thanks for helping in keeping the strollers out of LS!

OMG HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT?!?!?!

I've got one window open looking at the dates and changing them and posted to you in the other window and you already had it.
