Hi all. I am shocked, to say the least, and very disappointed in the DISboards for their decision.

I would suggest that each of you post your comments to the thread that advises all swaps are discontinued. Perhaps if they hear how disappointed you all are, they may make some revisions to the policy.

As for the Royal Carriage swap, I spoke with Parkers*Momma regarding the recent development. She is at work and unable to access the board at this time. But you can bet her fingers will be flying as soon as she gets home.

She will do everything she can to keep the RC swap going as long as possible, including making it a free swap to abide by the recent restrictions. So everyone, sit tight until she gets home. AND PLEASE POST YOUR COMMENTS TO THE THREAD BELOW:

Will do, thanks Nelep

This really sucks for all involved. I have posted my displeasure but from experience here, once it is a rule, they won't go back. *hugs to Maddi* Also, we have options to keep this going...this is not the only board...

Please PM Parkers*Momma with your ideas!

First off I really appreciate all the time that those of you took to keep this swap going. I used this swap in November and will be using it again in May.

In hind sight I think that the way the stroller swap would have worked better as it was in the beginning. The stroller would be used for a short period of time until the stroller was paid for and just retire it or donate it. Then start a new swap with a new stroller. One person having to take on this swap for months and months is just to much stress. Although again I appreciate your time on this swap. Everything works out for a reason. Now look down the road a bit and see how time you can spend with your family. :thumbsup2

These swaps have been great and helped a lot of people. Don't get me wrong it's just trying to keep the stroller swaps ongoing was a lot of stress and hardships for the "owners" of the stollers. Again parkers*momma I appreciate all your time and work on this. I have thought of you often and thought about how much work this was for you.

Let's all take a deep breath. Disboards will not reverse their decision on this at least its highly unlikely.

Blessing to all of you. Thanks again to parkers*momma :)

Don't you worry NELEP I have already voiced my opinion!!!!

Can't we continue the thread on the notion that this stroller swap is free, and request voluntary maintenance donations for the strollers? That way, there is no mandatory money exchange. I think this is a strong swap, I am already booked for December and I see there is a waiting list. Maybe if it is stated that the swap is free, but donations are accepted, we can continue the thread as is. I know I offered more than what was requested when I paid, since the strollers are in need of repair/replacement. I don't think anyone should have a problem "offering" a donation to the cause, especially since it costs so much in Disney to rent one... :grouphug:

the donation would have to be a stroller part or accessory and would have to be non-mandatory

First and foremost my dearest swappers BREATHE! It's going to be ok. This swap isn't going to go anywhere as far as I am concerned. And seriously, this could possibly be a godsend in disguise.

All of us...each and every single one of us has an emotional and financial investment in the Royal Carriage Swap. Currently I have 5 new seats ordered, 3 new axles/wheel, and a front crossbar which brings all of the strollers up to par. I should have enough to ship all of the items and if not, I will personally pay for them. That's not a problem with me.

What I would like to do is keep this swap open...MORE THAN ANYTHING, I want to keep this going for each of you and I will do so with each swappers help. I really think swapping is a good idea. I really thought about this and from what I understand from the new rules are that all swaps have to be free. Not a problem (no, I haven't been drinking....yet) if I can get a commitment from everyone. It was stated that items could be donated to the swaps. So why don't we run with that rule????

If a stroller is reported damaged, why couldn't someone order and take the new part with them when they go to WDW? Strictly voluntary on their part. If a stroller isn't useable until the new part comes then it won't be able to be used until someone donates it and takes it to WDW with them. As an example, a new seat from INSTEP is a tad under $20.00 (this includes shipping it to my home and taxes) Currently, I am overnight shipping items to WDW for swappers which is anywhere from $10-17.00 to overnight it....So now each time I have to send a new item to WDW it is costing the swap close to $40.00. So this would actually save the swap money in the long run....no additional shipping fees.

So If someone called or came back from Disney and said stroller #1 has a tear in the seat, maybe someone going to WDW in the next couple of weeks would be interested in purchasing and taking with them a new seat. It would totally depend on the swappers to first and foremost to use extreme care with the strollers plus it would depend on you personally, if you want to use the stroller as it is or would like to donate a seat so you will have a new seat, which you will put on the stroller when you get there. (it's a matter of removing a few screws)

If a stroller needs replaced, we have #4 and #5 to fall back on--this has always been our original plan. The only reason they would have to be shipped to WDW is if one becomes missing or the frames are bent. Yes, I would have to bite the bullet and pay for it, but I'm more than willing to do this to keep the swaps going. BTW-A new stroller ordered and shipped was about $230 (if I remember right) to get it to me plus the cost of shipping it to WDW from Ohio. I think the latest one which was shipped to msreneau was $28.00. Fortunately, in the past 12 weeks we have replaced 3 strollers!!

Anyway, we have two strollers to fall back on if one goes missing or has a bent frame because DebraW76 and I have taken the old ones and fixed them with swap funds. So far nothing has cost more than $20 to have it shipped to me (parts wise). Which means if someone donates an item...granted it would now put them at $30-$40 investment but they would know they would have a decent stroller to use when they get there since they are taking the part with them and still saving a substancial amount verses paying Disney's rental prices.

This would allow us to run the swap smoothly but it will take a total commitment from each and every swapper to abide by the rules (new ones will be posted). Plus it definitely take alot of stress of me trying to keep the strollers in perfect condition...this would now be a community effort...not just mine alone. I really cringe at the thought of taking these beautiful strollers and running them into the ground to te point of being trash and then saying "Oh Well...sorry about your luck" to the swappers later in the year who have already paid.

Since this affects each and every swapper, I think it should be a majority rule. I will email each swapper because some aren't very active on the thread. But what I do need to know.......IS EVERYONE ON BOARD FOR THE NEW AND IMPROVED ROYAL CARRIAGE STROLLER SWAP THAT IS TOTALLY MEMBER OWNED??

I do need to change post #1...so are we a member owned free swap or do we run these wonderful strollers into the ground, throw them in the trash and have the thread locked with the so sorry so sad attitude towards swappers later in the year.

Can we move the swap to another forum? Or move it to gmail and every swapper have access to the information (the owner of the gmail account can grant document access I think).

I don't want to break DIS rules but would love to be able to communicate with you and the people before and after me.

OMG... I just read this and cant believe it. I also joined a photopass share just before we left. Why are they doing this now???

I will voice my opinion too.:headache: I will be forever grateful for having used the RC1. :worship: It saved us the hassle of me bringing my clunky giant double stroller down with us and pushing that thing around all day.

Actually words can not express how much we loved that stroller and all the work Pmomma has put into this swap to keep it going as smoothly as it had.

I pmmed you Maddi

But wanted to add I am all aboard on the donating parts thing, will keep the stroller up to par when I am there. I also am going to take a small tool kit to put with RC *1. such as a screwdriver with bits, small rubber hammer and a small crescent wrench along with some clorox wipes and some bike tape.

If we become a free swap, then we will have access to DISBOARDS to run the swap. Nothing will change with the swap and disboards other than it being a free swap (and implimenting the minimum post rule/tenure).

As long as the swap becomes free we can still communicate here just fine. The thread will remain open.

I'm in.
Thanks for your continued hard work keeping the swap going!
:):):)

Wow, this sucks. Did they list a reason for doing all this? Obviously the people involved in the swaps were comfortable with the exchange of money taking place so why should the higher ups care as long as the rules were being followed? My time is almost here but I hope the strollers can last for everyone here!

I am in with the "free" swap. My time is almost here as well. We leave in 30 days! :)

Argh...:headache: Maddie some people dont get it!! I just read through all those pages on that new sticky and wow I cant believe all the nastiness toward these swapps!:grouphug:

I know...some ppl look at a rose as a thing of beauty. Then you have other who look at it as a prickly thorny weed.

I know in my heart where my heart has been with this swap and I would like to continue the swap with the new rules and accepting donated items if someone just happens to get going to WDW and their stroller needs something to make it better for their use.

KWIM?
