Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

When I visited my Irish relatives in New York (Staten Island) I saw so many Irish flags! Ooooh a ride... hmmm... I think it would be awesome to have something that talked about Irish history and Irish folklore (Irish mythology)... there are so many interesting stories to tell! Don't know how you'd work a story telling ride, they'd usually be told around a fire or in a pub haha

How about like a jungle cruise type thing, but instead of a skipper we'd have someone with the "gift of gab" and they can just tell us all of that stuff you listed above. Oh and the ride could be a round raft shape with a fake fire in the middle. There'd also have to be a scary banshee at some point because what's a disney ride without something to scare the crud out of your 4 year old? And maybe the whole vehicle could tip backwards to kiss the blarney stone and give anyone afraid of heights a fit?

Right there with you. Like - there's an Ireland booth during food & Wine, so that's cool, but I NEED an entire, permanent pavilion. Please and thank you, Disney.

You're totally right about Ireland stuff in the UK pavilion. Not cool! I also always scratched my head that that'd have Off Kilter (WAHHH I miss them) perform in the Canada Pavilion, because I knew them from years of seeing them at Irish Festivals. :confused3 It's like...they WANT to have Irish stuff in the World Showcase, but no pavilion for it. They being Disney and/or the Irish government (whom I know would need to fund said pavilion). Anyway...Erin go Bragh!!!

The Irish booth does serve some great food though! The fishermans pie and warm chocolate desert are delicious! The little niggly details like that are very irritating, only because you want it to be as good a representation of each country as possible. I guess if the Irish government didn't fund it but they wanted to still sell Irish branded items that was the option they chose!

So.... back to you @roxymama apologies for the Irish takeover!

THIS IDEA IS AWESOME!!! I can picture the ride now! I would totally ride that! Got to have a banshee!

Speaking of the Irish, here's a good one for you (may be NSFW)...

This one below gets sung at just about every single event or in every pub for about three months straight surrounding St. Patricks' day. The final line is often shouted at the top of ones lungs if you're doing it right. It also basically lists everywhere that I go on my training runs. FYI: My south side parish is Redeemer and it's the best (you always have to say your parish is the best around these parts.)
@dancingtodisney would probably get a thousand free beers if you ever came to visit this month :)

We're the Windy City Irish-where the craic is always best
Where every day is Paddy's Day and everyone's a guest
If you're Irish on the North Side or Irish on the West
Welcome to the South Side come join our Irish Fest!

(Chorus) We're the South Side Irish as our fathers were before
We come from the Windy City and we're Irish to the core
From Bridgeport to Beverly from Midway to South Shore
We're the South Side Irish-Let's sing it out once more!

Our parents came from Mayo, from Cork and Donegal.
We come from Sabina, St. Kilian's and St. Gall
St. Leo, Visitation, Little Flower and the rest.
The South Side parishes are mighty-they're the best!

Chorus

We live on the South Side-Mayor Daley lived here too
The Greatest Irish Leader that Chicago ever knew
he was always proud of his South Side Irish roots!
So here's to his honor to his memory we'll be true.

Chorus

We sing the songs our fathers sang when they were growing up
Rebel songs of Erin's Isle in South Side Irish Pubs
and when it comes to baseball-we have two favorite clubs
The Go-Go White Sox... and whoever plays the Cubs!

Haha! No apologies.
But now I want a warm chocolate dessert :(

I KNOW! So much more detailed than last year. I guess it's the 20th anniversary of RnR so maybe they are stepping up their remix medal game. Makes me wonder how cool the actual finisher ones will be???

Darn you and your medal porn! :rotfl2:

Now I want to run that one again. My friend just asked me last weekend if we were doing Chicago again, so maybe I'll see you there.:D

DOOOO ITTTT!!!!

But then you'll have to decide if you run it the same way as last year (Super fast 5k, :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1, fun 10k) OR my version of last year (leisurely 5k, :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1, PR 10k)
:rotfl2:

I'm thinking it would be all around leisurely :drinking1:drinking1
My friends are bad influences :drinking1:drinking1
Twist my arm :drinking1:drinking1

Random Friday musing:
I think the CoolDown of the tempo workout is now the most annoying part of it. It's like my brain says "you already did the hard part...why are you now still jogging along for another however many miles" and I'm like "you are right brain but I have to finish this so shut up" and my brain just taunts me with "hit the stop button, you're good, you're fine, you did great running fast, let's go home and watch Top Chef" and I'm like "shut up brain, I'm building endurance" and then the treadmill is all like "hey, I'm gonna shut off at an hour anyways" and I'm like "whatever, you do you, I'm gonna restart you for another 10 minutes."

So is this what mile 12 will feel like in the half. Will I need to fight my annoying brain as I get close to the end? Any tips from fellow temponauts? I realize this is more of treadmill issue than when I'm outside because I can't just stop if I'm physically a mile from my house.

PS I hate the treadmill right now.

No, at mile 12 of the half you are going to be like "only 1.1 miles to go, let's kick it into gear and finish strong!" No worries, you've got this. :thumbsup2

Top Chef!! I love that show!! Did you watch the finale? What did you think of the winner?

Don't tell me!! I did not watch it last night but I am going to watch tonight! I've been avoiding social media today to keep myself in suspense. I chose sleep last night. Sleep won.

And I also LOVE this show. LOVE!!

Mum's the word. That's why I was careful not to say it when I asked. I know I often watch things later and hate it when the result gets spoiled.

Top Chef is the best though, right? I'm still confused on how I can love a show about a food contest where I never get to actually taste the food. I want to be Padma in my next life.
