Roundup at the Fort - 2024 Fort Dismeet

All spiffed up for dinner we took the boat to Contemporary and the Monorail over to Grand Floridian. We thought we left with ample time to get there. Howerver, the Monorail was so packed with people leaving MK as the holiday party. We managed to make our 6:55 reservations at 7:10. Though we clean up well!!

I expected Narcoosee's to be similar to Citrico's, though the atmosphere felt more like higher end chain resteraunt then fine dinning. The food however, was completely fine dinning. We got started with a drink with Melissa picking a Borduex blend red while I went for a Smoked Dark and Stormy. The bread service was great....the salted butter went down well with us (likely due to all that time in the sun at MK)

Afterwards we split a calamari appetizer and a lobster bisque and wow where they so good.

For main courses I got the Scollops while Melissa opted for a Surf and Turf of Filet Minion and grilled Shrimp.

Those plates where clean when we where finished with them. The food had great flavor and textures as you would expect for finer dinning. We nearly skipped dessert till we saw this Almond cheese cake pass our table and had to have one. I paired it with a Dow's 20 year Tawny Port which Melissa finally got to experiece port with dessert (she has had port with me before, just not with a rich and creamy dessert which really changes the wines profile.)

Stuffed we left and waddled our way past the gingerbread house for some photos

We then caught the monorail back to the Contemporary and if we made it in time would head to the DVC louge to watch the holiday fireworks. We made it with just enough time for me to order us a night cap before the show started.

Happy we got to see both fireworks shows one way or another. We caught the last boat back to the RV and call it a night. It was a great last night together. Tuesday will be AK and her flight home and I am solo again.... But that is another post.

You two are looking good.

Tuesday recap: TLDR short day of AK then dropping Melissa off for her flight home :(

We again agreed on no alarms yet like our internal clocks know each other woke in the early 7s again. With a need to be on the wait to MCO by 1:30ish we did our best not to daudle much in the morning. Quick showers, some fruit for breakfast and our coffee to-go. All in all made it to AK relatively early.

It was all decorated up and the audio system had a rendition of white christmas on the steel drums filling our ears.

1731503955105.jpeg

Our first stop was KS, as the wait time was only 25 minutes....and as the safari goes, after several times paths got blocked by the animals the real wait time was cloer to 50. Yet we got a great driver who was comfortable sharing the facts and making sure everyone could spot the animals the best we could.

After that we where discussing the jungle trek when I saw the wait time for Everest was 20 minutes, and went to the single rider queue. That was early walk on! My riding partner was pretty cool and even joined me in posing for the drop photo.

1731504248118.jpeg

After riding that it was time for some Mickey shaped foods and we spilt a pretzle and a drink. Satisfied we soft of forgot about the Jungle Trek and decided to head over to It's tough to be a bug since we don't know when it is closing to be switched to a zootopia themed show.

1731504460680.jpeg

While some of our seat effects where not working well, the water during the acid was on overtime and felt like I wes hit by a water hose. The animatronic hopper was not working either, so they removed lighting him up duirng the show, though he still says everything. This was ready for a deep refurbishment, and can see with a replacement pending they may not even be making minor repairs.

After bugs life we checked wait times and time on the clock. Not much we could or wanted to make and we decided to stop at 8 spoons cafe and get a mac and cheese snack. We bought one with pulled pork and one with barbacoa and it hit the spot for us. Appetite satisfied we decided to go visit Mickey and Minnie for some photos.

1731509943418.jpeg

After that we walked the shops and glad we did. We bought some shirts and went with XS for the girls, after trying on our shirts we knew they where the wrong size. Well luck would have it the stores in AK had S in stock so we could exchange. Afterwards it was a Mickey Bar on our way out of the park with the sad reality it was time to send Melissa home. :(

We made record time to the airport to drop her off. And thankfully her airport fastpass (pre check) made security a breeze. Her flight went without issue and she was home by 7pm. After dropping her off I came back to the RV to hydrate, post a recap and see where others where at. I was able to join @Teamubr and Donna for a drink at the Hanger Bar and dinner at Enzo's Hideaway. The company was fabulous and the food was pretty good too.

After dinner I wandered the shopping area of downtown disney and found the ornament I was after. Not much else was purchased, though have my mind on a few things.

Wednesday I need to catch up on work, though likely head to MK as the only non party night left while I am here.

Today is the last day of our vacation... back to work tomorrow (sad face).

We got the RV winterized today, and it is now in storage. This year, we had an amazing camping season.

I wanted to thank you all for such a great time at Disney.
  • We enjoyed the time we spent with you all. We love you guys.
  • Damien and I spent way too much money and enjoyed every minute of it. (Wait until my first car payment kicks in; I may be singing a different tune.)
  • @Bishoparc, thanks for all the work you did. Again, Josie did a great job with the decorations. Our potluck had plenty of food, and I enjoyed the extra name badges.
  • To everyone who had RV issues on the way down, I pray that issues are resolved (in the least expensive way).
Until next year, my friends.

It was definitely a busy trip for us all. Each time I stopped by your site, you were MIA. Could see from posts you had a great time.

Til we meet again!

Just wanted to let the puzzlers in the group know that I am soldiering on alone at home to finish our puzzle.

I resumed work on it yesterday (Tuesday Nov 12) here is where I left it.

We had a little drizzly rain this afternoon which made fine puzzle time and I made some more progress today (Wed Nov 13).

Several folks in our group (@Teamubr and others) are leaving on the 16th (Saturday) and I recall @WalkingintheFog saying after she returned from the KOA she was there for another week (or two?). So I'd like to try to get this puzzle done by the end of this weekend for sure.

Oh Lordy the pressure I put on myself! :crowded:

I'd say significant improvement, Ed. Thanks for taking one for the team!

Looks very doable!! :cheer2::jumping1:popcorn::

great job @bama_ed !!!

Wednesday was a work day for me. So around 4:30 my day was done and I decided to head to MK to first see the country bear show, and then see the fireworks show one last time.

While I have a place in my heart for the old country bear jamboree....I cannot say the new one was all that bad. I thought they did a great job and knowing the old show I found myself laughing a LOT at the changes, most specifally big Al's rendition of Fixer uppper.....

The fireworks show was fun and a new perspective got me the luck of some great shots.

Afterwards I went back to the campground and met up with Jenn and we headed on over to the River's Roost to take in Yeehaa Bob play us a couple melodies.

Doesn't his hear look great??

1731643471499.png

In the process I manged to meet a sweet british couple that got married this same and and honeymooning at the show. So of course I congradulated them and bought them a round. It is the proper british thing to do after all. After a blast at the show and waiting for our lyft back to the fort we got to see Mickey's evles at work spreading some christmas magic around Port Orleans.

We finally got back to the campground and called it a night. Thursday is another work day and figure out where I will wander next....

Stay around a few more weeks and I can catch you on an upcoming flight to MCO..lol...

@4077 I do not think I could do that. I am already missed back home both to help run the place and they genuinly miss me.

Thursday lacks some pictures, mainly because I forgot to take some. After work was done I was trying to decide on where to get dinner. As was looking for open reservations I managed to snag a 7:45 at the Hollywood Brown Derby. So it was off to HS!!! Wait times here not bad, but I dediced to see what I could do when I got there. Turns out I had zero issues getting quickly on rise or smugglers run, as a single rider it was nearly a walk on.

After that I checked times.....slinky was still 75 minutes, MMRR was 50. So I just wandered around a bit and did get a good picutre of the Hollywood christmas tree and night decorations.

Brown Derby was super tasty and got the escargot and a filet. Though I neglected to take any food shots....sorry peeps.

After dinner I walked out to see the evening show at the Chinese theater...

1731680575850.jpeg

I thought about fantasmic and decided I would rather head back ot the RV and relax on the couch and did just that.

Friday is a short work day, start paking up the RV and then heading to EPCOT for dinner and some remaining shopping. Saturday is only a 6ish hour drive with stops so at least we don't need to rush out of here.

Last ticket and last day in the magic. MMVMCP last night (head didn't hit pillow til 2am!), but dragged myself to HS for ROTR and it went down as I entered park...ugh. so snagged Star Tours & then 45 min wait for MMRR before heading to Bona for 'brunch' (need my Mickey waffle fix). Then tap a few last rides at AK & last souvenirs (aka Christmas presents) before heading back to Fort to pack up for Saturday pull out. Trying not to think about work next Tuesday...

Just a quick note to say a big thanks to all for the wonderful Dismeet. We made it home safely on Wednesday to a colder climate than we left. Tom received the quote to repair our motorhome today from the shop in New Hampshire and we have decided to have the RV transported home. After discussing with our own mechanics we feel we can fix it here for a much better price. Unfortunately that will mean a different plan for our return in January. Keep us in the loop for a future FW Dismeet. Perhaps this time we can attend as planned!
