Rope Drop at DS

From our experience in June......Toy Story Mania. It is new and popular. The lines can back up, and the fast passes can go, well fast.

I think you have to factor in single rider lines to depending on your family. We say many families at Toy Story Mania with four people seperating to use the single rider line.

Another thing to consider, you can hit Toy Story, then head over to RnRC and ToT. Fastpass one and use the standby line for the other.

I'm going to be the only one, but I'm not heading to TSM first.

The way I see it, if you go to TSM first, you're allowing the lines to build at ToT and RnRc. That means that you'll have to either stand in one (or both) lines or fastpass one of them, which means another trip down there to ride it. I don't want to go down there twice.

I'd go down, ride both of those (or one, if you only want to ride one) and then head over to TSM. If the lines at TSM are already long, you can get a FP there.

But, that's me. The rest of the DIS is going to TSM. If you want to join them, please do. One less person in front of me at ToT.

In fact, I think I'll start saying, "Oh, TSM first!! Go right over there!" so that I don't have to wait in line behind anyone. ;)

Our plan is to go on an EMH morning and send DH with DS2 to fastpass TSM as I head over to TOT with DS4. That way we'll have our pass and shouldn't have a bad wait at TOT.

Actually, that is a plan I'd go with if I were visiting soon. There is really nothing else down near ToT & RnRC, so I'd want to get both done early, then grab a TSM FP. I've read here that the TSM FP's are running out early - before noon (don't know if that is still true)? - so I'd head right there after the other 2 biggies and grab a FP.

And CoolBeans, your plan on diverting the crowds by enhancing the fervor for the newest ride - my dad used to do stuff like that! We'd be cruising over to Splash & Big Thunder, and he'd see a character out of the corner of his eye and exclaim, "Look, its Mickey! Let's go get a picture!" and see how many people ran off after the Mouse, forgetting the rides. Good times.

From our experience this week you want to get to TSM as soon as possible after rope drop, especially if you are there on AM EMH day. We did rope drop twice last week and I get to TSM first to get fast passes. (one day was AM EMH, and one wasn't). Both days I got FPs for around 10 AM, but by the time we came back the FPs were in the late afternoon.

Yesterday we didn't get to DS until about 11 AM, and FPs for TSM were already gone for the day. It was another AM EMH day, so that made the park much busier.

Anyhow, you have to decide what you want to do the most, but if you want to do TSM, don't delay getting FPs too long.

I am the FP volunteer (pregnant, can't ride RNR and TOT) - so will get those for TSM while the rest of the group heads to RNR at RD, and perhaps TOT, or we will FP that later. Hope I don't get run over though on the way to TSM as I will not be running...

We like to get a fast pass for ToT and ride RnR first..depending on the crowds, we can sometimes sneak a 2nd ride.

I have actually been debating that strategy as well. What I think I will do is be the "runner" for our family for TSM. While I am getting those FPs, I will have them go over and ride ToT and meet up with them to ride RnR. Hopefully we wil be able to get another ride or three in on ToT after that and then be eligible for another set of FP to get for RnR.

From my experience just last week:
Fastpass Toy Story Mania, and then ride it.
Ride RnRC
Ride TOT.
Reride TSM.
If you dont want to ride it twice, still get the FP first. If you ride RnRC and ToT first, by the time you get back to TSM the wait will be over an hour and the fastpasses for late in the evening, I guarantee it. They were ALL gone by 10:30 last week, and it was NOT an EMH morning. at 9:45 they were for 5-6.
