So, how does this work? If I am given a room that is dirty (like the recent pictures on the BCV thread), do I have to accept it or pay 25.00 to switch? This doesn't seem fair. It is one thing to be assigned a room and then want to change because of location or balcony configuration, etc. However, what if it is dirty or (in my case we are also concerned about mobility issues for my mother) located in the "north forty" of the resort?

If you request a change because you want a different room (not maintenance issues or you arrive at dirty room), you will be charged the room change fee. If you get to your room and it hasn't been cleaned between guests, they should either clean it immediately or get you a new room. Depending on how many rooms are vacant.

If there was a mobility issue, I would mention it at check in, and have the request, "close to elevator" noted on the ressie. I hope you get something that suits your needs.

We haven't been members for many years, but especially before our first visit "home" I had read some things on this board that made me want to wring my hands at the foolishness of our DVC purchase. Nothing bad has happened to us, and I've enough good experiences behind me that would help me deal with something bad if it happens. The room change fee hasn't always been charged, it does depend on circumstances.

Thanks....we've only been "home" once...the room was wonderful (SSR) so this just wasn't an issue.
