Rides Shut Down during Wishes

We rode Magic Carpets of Aladdin during the fireworks last trip, it was great!

I TOTALLY second this!!!! If you can time it out right, the finale is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was luckily enough to be able to do that on my birthday and it made for one of the best birthdays I've had in years!

Last trip we had a FP+ for PP during Wishes. When we got there the CM told us that it was shut down for the fireworks (iasw was closed as well). I asked about our FP and she said to come back any time the rest of the night.

We also tried to sit outside at Pinocchios and were told that we couldn't during the fireworks. The CM said they were concerned about it being windy that night and possible fireworks fallout.

Though inconvenient, I did get some fallout from fireworks in my eye on the day I was flying back to NY, and it took a long time before my eye felt healthy again(and this was just from the ones during the show on the castle stage!)...better safe than sorry!

Just a cool FYI about the loud explosions comment. On the Keys to the Kingdom tour, we were able to go through the utilidors, and they actually have a hearing screening room. Someone on the tour asked what it was for. It is for CM's that are in jobs that may cause hearing damage, and any CM can get tested whenever they want. I thought this was just a small gesture made by Disney to show they care about their employees.

CM's in specific areas get tested when they begin work and then are tested annually. Some areas and specific work sites like Raceway, float drivers and others are tested on a more regular rotation. Testing is scheduled, not just a walk-in, although it can be scheduled at the CM request. In addition, certain work areas require hearing protection and it is generally available propertywide for anyone desiring it.

That's one of my favorite little "secrets" in the park. Usually, there isn't a big crowd at Carpets...sometimes small enough that you can just stay on from ride to ride. The better CMs know the timing just right to have you at max height during the big finale. :3dglasses
