First cruise. 3 day Wish vs 5 day Fantasy WWYD?

You can’t go wrong with it.

I say if you’re new to cruising and coming out to WDW start with the three night. See if you like it.

I have done Caribbean cruises that were 6 nights, 3 nights and 4 nights. I like the 3 nights as weekend getaways. I also live less than two hours from PC and PE.

I have a 5 night scheduled for 2026, I think it will be the longest I am likely to do. After three nights I’ve seen what I need to see, it the 4 nights was nice from a packing perspective. Didn’t feel quite as rushed.

Yep! We played it off for about a year from the time they booked their cruise to surprising the kids at the airport. About spilled the beans a few times, but well worth the surprise when Grandma and Grandpa showed up at the airport terminal just before boarding the plane.

We had an aft balcony, rough September seas and she loved it! Prayers were answered that trip for sure! Only downfall, wasn't long enough.

Enjoy your trip!!
It's never long enough.
We did 2 Panama Canal cruises, 14 nts each :cloud9:, and they weren't long enough either.

This is where it depends on why you cruise. If the purpose is to go visit places, and you've seen all you came to see, then it doesn't need to be very long.
If you have a high stress job and just need some down time, relax and unwind time, then longer is better.

Does anyone have any experience with the WiFi on the Fantasy? My husband would like to be able to check emails and so some light work if we extend the days.

Both ships are good in their own way. Our last cruise was a three night with WDW on each side of it. Experience each dining venue and off you go. We do morning walk off, Disney transportation, to resort usually by 10-11am. (I started booking the DVC room night prior so we just show up & head to the room).

Haven’t used the wifi, even on a 7 nighter. I like that the app on board includes the iMessage stuff so you can keep in contact back home (like on a flight).

Castaway over Lookout any day for me. (Getting both is nice on an itinerary but if just one..be sure it’s Castaway).

Dining: as far as with a show, Frozen & Marvel nights on the wish. Just Animator’s Palette on Fastasy. (Dinner entertainment..Wish wins that one). Dining food of all the ships so far..Fantasy was great each night for whatever I chose.

Wish has a much better outdoor food area stations then the Fantasy.

Fantasy has a better water flume experience with the AquaDuck winning. (Get more without half being just a lift hill with screens, like on the Wish).

Ship design, atrium, elevators..all goes to the Fantasy. The Wish best feature is the walkway going up stairs & around the bow. Fantasy has a better 360 walk around deck.

Favorite ship so far & the first one I’ve book again for the future is the Fantasy (another Merrytime December 2026). (We have had the pleasure of trying: Wonder, Wish, Treasure, Magic & Fantasy. (Dream schedule for 2027).

Treasure currently 7 nighter makes it less likely currently for many to try. (Treasure out shines the Wish in every way as my #2 ranked).

Honestly , I think you would really enjoy the Wish on the 3 nighter. The 5 night would be more for wanting more sailing time or to see both Disney island locations. 5 will of course feel like a better cruising experience.

For a Disney cruise, I’d choose the Fantasy for my first. Reason: as I think here on them..if the Wish was the 5 night and the Fantasy was the 3 night, I’d really rather be sailing on the Fantasy & would pick the 3.

Unless you live driving distance to a port, IMO anything less than 7 days isnt worth it. So I would go with the 5 day option if those are the only 2 options.

I live within driving distance of 2 ports, and I wouldn't do a 3 night (4 is my absolute minimum)

Congrats @VGCgroupie!

I'm sorry to see the Wish getting a lot of shade! I have my first cruise booked next year also, 4 nights on the Wish stopping at both Disney islands, with a couple of nights at VGF before we set sail.

I'm not surprised (it's my least favorite ship)

Love the comparisons. I do already have a room booked for the day we arrive back, it may make sense to just keep it if we would be back to WDW that early. Although it's a 1 bed so not so cheap.

I haven’t read the responses so someone probably already mentioned this but what about doing a back to back? Either on the wish or adding another ship?

We thought about that, but none of them line up with our current plans. This 5 day one lined up perfectly

I did choose a 3 day originally because I said I would never ever cruise. Something about not being able to leave bothers me a little. And I’ve always been one to read about when people get stuck on a ship with sickness. As of now I only trust a Disney cruise 😂. (I know things can happen on any brand of ship)
Lol, you sound like one of my sons. He said he doesn't want to cruise because he doesn't want to be trapped 😂
One of our sons said he felt like he was in prison on a cruise with Princess. 🤪

Just read through the thread. We love the Fantasy. Do it! We are going on a 5 night on the Fantasy in September. There is some Star Wars stuff in the kids club (younger one). WiFi is decent for work.

Its official. I switched over to the 5 night Fantasy. I went deep into the rabbit hole over the weekend picking a room. Fingers crossed I dont regret my choice. Deck 8 Forward vs Deck 10 Midship. I think my verandah room will have that metal divider, but oh well. Picking my room on the Wish was so much easier since there were so many options, I got my first choice one of the accidental oversized verandahs. So that room just opened up for someone lucky!

What do you mean the room will have a metal divider?:scratchin
All of the verandahs have a metal divider for privacy. Do you mean a connecting room?
