Ride Through at Fort Wildnerness

I was wondering if non-Fort Wilderness guests are allowed to ride through the camping areas to view the campsites. My wife and I camp, but we have never pulled our camper to Disney. I always like to travel through a campground before camping there to get a "feel" for the size of the sites and ease of getting in and out.

I have been a full timer for the last 9 years and I have never seen a campground that would not allow you to drive through to check it out. But then again I have never been to an RV park that considers a $74 site the economy section.

Can't really "ride thru" You can park your car at check in station and then take an internal bus and ride around or get off at one of the stops and then walk around. I used to stay there all the time but it has been awhile.However my wife and I make a point, no matter where we are staying, to do this every trip. It's a wonderfully themed and quiet place.Unique campground gifts ,of course, at the 2 stores on site.Have fun !

Not trying to encourage anyone to "sneak in"but if you want to preview you should be able to park at DD and take a bus to FW.Then get on one of the loop busses and see what it's like.Wether you're a camper or not I'd bet you'll find the place as good as or better than any RV resort around.I've heard that there was going to be a resort wrist band program implemented but I don't know if it is in use.
We did this about 10 years ago when we were trying to decide if we wanted to buy a camper.(we were not aware of the contriversy over people not staying at the resort using pools etc.)We bought the camper and have been to the fort yearly since,twice a year on occasion.We live in N.Y. so the trip is a bit of a chore but we are big time FW fans.
If we broke any rules when we "checked it out"Dis.co. has surely made their money back.

There is no need to "sneak in" as guests, staying at a WDW resort or not, are welcome at all WDW resorts to look around, shop or eat. The only no-no is basically using resort-guest specific amenities, such as swimming. Most resorts will allow guests to park in the visitor lots for their visit. There are some resorts that might enforce a 3 hour time limit, especially if they have a smaller lot or at a time of year when people tend to try and park there and go to the parks.

Thanks for all of the replies!! I did not figure that riding through or otherwise visiting would be an issue, but still wanted to ask before I tried. We live in Central Georgia and it is only about a 5 hour drive down for us, and pulling my camper isn't too bad on fuel efficiency (2007 Dodge 1500 Hemi, towing UL 26' hybrid, usually get about 12-12.5mpg). We will be down there this evening, through the weekend, and I may try to see the campground on Sunday before going to MVMCP.

In this case, if you are planning to park at TTC for MVMCP, you might want to park there and then take the monorail/boat to MK, or monorail to CR, then take the boat to FW. After visiting FW, you can take the boat back to MK.

Granted, you might already be thinking about doing this anyway, but if not, I thought I would suggest. It might add some extra travel time, but it saves from having to move the car and the boat ride from FW to MK is nice. In fact, it is my second favorite way to arrive at MK, the boat from TTC is the first.

There is no parking inside the Fort other than at someone's campsite except for 15 minute parking down around the Meadow TP.

You are welcome to come in, park in the checkin lot, walk or take an internal bus and visit/spend $ as you wish. As tobikaye said, you can't use the pool but you are free to look around and plan your future visit.

They don't allow driving around in your own personal vehicle, but you can, as others said, ride the Disney transportation and walk around (even eat ). We were just there and noticed that security was patrolling the loops pretty good to keep anyone from riding around in their cars.
