Richard Petty Driving Experience

I did this a few years ago in Charlotte, so I'm not sure how much prices have changed since then or how things differ at the different tracks. When I did it, there were two different 'rides' you could take.

For around $100 you could do a ride along. The ride along you get in as passenger and there were 3 cars that went out and did a mock race.

What I did was called driving school. It was around $350 and you got 8 laps driving. They first gave you a class and discussed the rules. Then they ran you around the track in a van to show you the line you were supposed to follow. Then you got to get in your own race car and you followed an instructor with the intent that you drive as fast as you can/want. My best lap, I averaged a little over 145mph.

If you like to go fast, it is an absolute blast and well worth every dime. I'm not sure you go quite as fast at the Disney track, mostly because I think it's a shorter track.

All of that said, their website is going to be the best source for info and probably prices. I would also not hesitate to give them a call for more info. When I dealt with them, every person I talked to was great and very helpful.

My husband did this at WDW speedway in 2005. We paid around $400, and he drove the car himself, with an instructor in a car in front of him. He had training for about 3 hours before he drove. He enjoyed the experience.
