I was part of the MB/FP+ testing in October had a free dining package at POR. Liked it, no complaints.

So I have a trip planned in March. Different Resort, different sort of reservation.

I am staying at ASsp. I am staying on a RO winter rate. I went ahead and bought my ticket thinking I wanted to use FastPass+ again if this resort used them by the time I went. (both the ticket and my RO show up on my invoice from Disney Destinations)

I had to go on MDE today and I wanted to look at something and I get the pop up to customize my MB.

Sure enough my spring reservation to Sports is listed and it has me listed with a new MB. I went ahead and customized it (different color this time) because I really do like the FP+ options.

I guess I just assumed with a MB linked to my account (and yes my blue one from October is still there) they would just use it again instead of giving me a new one. I am assuming it is because they cannot reset my RFID from Florida. LOL

What a waste of resources. It makes no sense not to reuse a band if 1. it is still in working order and 2. it is still in my possession.

I know what you mean. We just customized our third set for our third trip.

Think about the people who do split stays and travel to Disney often. They could end up with dozens of MB's!

I think they are so cheap to make they are not going to worry about it. There are people who have split stays and got bands for each section of their stay. No reason you can't use it over and over as long as your reservation is linked. I assume since they are in a test period they are free now but will cost in the future. I just wonder if it will be a fee that you have to pay or if you have the option to not get it. It will be interesting to see where they go with it.

For the most part 99% of guests arriving in the next few months do not have MBs yet since only the crazy people on here go often enough to have multiple bands. :rotfl:. The full roll out only started 3 months ago and the other tests were sporadic, so only true disney fans actually have them already and will be going back soon. As things progress there will probably be an option to opt out of new bands if you already have them, but that will be when a higher percentage of guests actually have them.

If someone has an old band they'd like to send me... I'd like to use it for unlocking the dragon in Disney Infinity.

REUSE! ;)

We're staying offsite in December and won't be getting band :(

I was told this weekend (when we had trouble with my son's account) that you can have up to 8 active magic bands linked to an account. So if you go multiple times or have split stays you can get all different colors and they will all work.

So you can change them up with your outfit if you want or just keep the old ones as a momento.

I am one of those people with split stays, so between my DH and I, we will have 4 bands total. My first choice is pink, but I also picked orange in case I can't customize another for a potential Oct trip :goodvibes

Yep! I already have 3 and will be getting another one February:)

What I don't understand is why they feel the need to ship them Next Day Air! Now THAT is a waste of money!

I have 5 bands and a 6th on order (multiple split stays).

You are supposed to be able to use any magic band you have that is active and linked to your MDX account.

I figure that in the future we won't have to get new ones for each stay. But for now...

We were there in Oct and I thought I'd forgotten my customized band. Then I found my band. So I have green and grey. In January due to low DVC points, different needs, and finding deals on hotels.com, we have 4 separate on-site stays planned (from the 4th to the 13th, LOL). That means 4 separate MB orders. I'm taking advantage of it, and have customized mine (and DS's) so we can get all sorts of colors. I'll have everything but yellow once those 4 boxes start rolling in!

I hope that they eventually allow you to opt out of receiving more bands, to be eco-friendly.

I have one and will be getting 5 more in the coming 4 months. It irks me a little not to be able to re-use.

Since you seem to like WDW and you've now planned a second trip inside of 6 months, you might consider upgrading this new ticket to an AP. Think realistically about what you might be doing inside the year from the March trip and see if it makes more sense than buying different sets of tickets for each stay...

Disney is not paying what you or I would pay for next day air. I am sure they have a fantastic bulk rate that makes it no more expensive to ship them that way.

So... keeping our bands from our trip last month to use next Oct isn't even an option?

I had considered it in Oct, but price wise it wasn't a money saver.

I usually do once a year but this year I may have a conflict in the fall and I had some credit that had to be used with the airlines so the spring trip is a fluke. (it actually started out in Jan, but had to rearrange).

I am doing only 3 park days (and did only 3 in Oct) so two 3 day base tickets were cheaper than an AP.

I am however thinking about when my next trip will be. I've actually been to Disney while christmas decorations were still up but I kinda think a Dec trip would be fun and I've been flirting with a Disney 5K in 2015.

However last year was a travel intense year and 2014 and 2015 both have a huge trip in them (Hawaii and a Canadian Cruise out of the east coast) then I have a UK trip planned for 2016. Just not sure when Disney is going to fit around those and not sure if I will have two trips within 12 months so the risk of buying an AP may outweigh making independant ticket purchases.

You can definitely re-use them. I think jgive meant re-use their first band and not get any more.

We have four bands each (with another three coming with Dec./Jan's split stay). I just order a different color each time. All of them worked on our visit last week.

Always good to know people have thought of the AP! :)

You can definitely re-use the bands; it's just that they aren't giving a choice about sending more right now. Both of mine show up in my MDE account, along with hubby's and son's. And when we get the 4 boxes all of those will show up, too, and will be usable. Accessories!

I'm an AP holder. Got a MB for a Sept trip, it was great. In Oct, Went up at a NON-TESTING resort with the MB and it worked as if it were a testing resort. Even the CMs were like "Uh, we aren't set up for that yet, it may not work." It did, door, charge to room, tickets, FP+ and all!

Now, going to the cabins and I get the MB email and just got another MB for the current ressie in December. Not that I mind getting a new MB but, isn't it overkill if you are an AP holder? Issue one per year or something.

Who says you can't re-use? You are supposed to be able to use any band assigned to you that is active on your MDX account. And you can have multiple bands active at the same time.

At this point you just cannot opt out of being sent or given a new band with EVERY SEPARATE RESERVATION. Even if you have a split stay on the same week, you will get one band for each separate reservation.

I just had reservations at 3 different resorts (last minute add ons, couldn't get the full time at the same place) and I got 3 bands but only used one the whole trip.
