Resale member benefits question

I don't see it as the same thing. First you are giving examples of physical objects. I am talking about a lease of a membership that is set to last until a specific date. If you buy a lease and take over payments, you would expect the oil changes to continue if they are part of the original agreement. Same with the original DVC contracts. If it states in the original condo docs that membership cannot be downgraded due to the risk of depreciating values. Then we have ground to stand on. This was in another post.
Often incentive offers such as the oil change example do not transfer to subsequent owners-they are only valid for the original purchaser. DVC has essentially done the same thing. WIth this changThese are not contractual obligations for DVD/DVC. They are bonuses they have offered over time and have changed as years have gone by (original OKW owners got free park tickets during the 90s). In fact in the direct purchase paperwork there is a disclosure about those extras and that they are not guaranteed to continue and not to purchase based on them.

It doesn't, actually the opposite, but you should read them for yourself. And you could contact a lawyer about a lawsuit, it sounds like you should.

DVD may wan't to boost their sales but at the same time, I see it as liquidating all future resales. If you ever plan to sell, your points wont be worth much. As far as the discounts they don't even mean much because as an AP holder discounts are better, but the fact that you cannot enjoy a space made for members (like DVC Members Lounge at Epcot) and being a member really bothers me. If I am a DVC Member and I want to purchase a Cruise on DVC Night I should be entitled to do so. I am a DVC Member my points may not get me in but also being a member I can't go on the cruise for members? Does that make any sense?
As far as prices plummeting I don't buy it has been over a year since the change was made and The resale market is alive and well.

from the ROFR thread.
Papihavana---$70-$8296-200-SSR-Apr- 0/16, 0/17, 200/18, 200/19- sent 2/26 passed 3/6

So you thought that the resale points were worth quite a bit 3 months ago. Did you not know about those restrictions or do you think that everyone else believes the perks are worth so much that your DVC contract value has tanked?

Plus there's no guarantee of price support and no requirement for them to either support the price or to not do things that decrease prices/value.

Lets see what they will be worth a year from now! If you think I bought it cheap wait until next year!!!

At this point no matter what, the people that bought direct loose the most.:charac2: The people that bought pre 4-4-16 resale are in a good seat:love1:, and the people that bought post 4-4-16 are just in limbo:rolleyes1. Until someone figures out a way to fight back!pirate:

First and foremost, thanks for the entertainment though I'm not completely sure at this point if you're tongue in cheek or if you really believe all this craziness.

On the short term anyone who bought resale should have little risk $$$ wise unless there's a catastrophe and then the value of DVC will likely be the least or our worries. Someone who bought retail will be worse off depending on what they bought but presumably DVC should be throw away dollars anyway. On a side note you paid double what you could have bought the same contract just a few years ago and that's with both of the restriction dates and announcements in the interim.

We agree somewhat here but obviously coming from opposite directions. But worst case scenario is they buy 25 points retail and have all the benefits you are complaining about.
Until someone figures out a way to fight back!
The way to fight back is to educate yourself up front. I have timeshares that we bought retail for large $$$ but my costs are pennies and they're worth little to sell and they're my best value. I'm guessing you don't have any timeshare experience outside DVC. But as I said before, YOU should be the one to do so, just give a lawyer a call and send them some money because they won't take this on to get paid out of proceeds because they'll know there isn't a case.
