Renting Points

Good to know, thanks!

I'll do both, thanks! I checked on points at David's and the example I checked was about $900 for four days. Then I checked the same hotel from DCL's site and it was $1800. I just can't believe that David's would be that much of a discount? So I'm wondering if he doesn't actually have that inventory--it's just a points example chart. :confused3

David's website has a points calculator on it. That doesn't mean that he has points available or that there are DVC resort rooms available for the dates that you are checking. He acts as a broker between the DVC member who wishes to rent out their points and someone who is seeking to rent a reservation.

David is just acting as a broker between a member who has points they don't plan to use and a guest who wants to book a DVC resort. Most members book 11 months out to get what they want at their home resort and might try to change at seven months out to a non-home resort. There are times when David has a hard time getting members who want to sell their points and he has lots of guests who want BLT, GFV, BCV, whatever.

DVC is a timeshare. Inventory is limited to what members own. At some resorts members own more than 95% of the resort. Others, DVC still owns a larger percentage because they haven't sold out the resort yet.
