Renting DVC points??

DVC is a Disney timeshare. When you rent points you are renting directly from the owner, not Disney. It is easy, requires a little trust from both parties involved but can save you a ton of money on your room. We rented points from 2 different members here years ago before buying into DVC. It was a great way for us to try it out before buying. Now we are hooked!LOL Here is a link with info:

The folks on the DVC board are SUPER helpful and really nice. Many of them have had lots of experience renting points and know how it works inside and out. They can probably explain it better than I can!

I've used a website to rent out some of my spare points - it give a pretty good description of what's involved.
Just google DVC rentals, and it should come up - I can't post the site itself.

I've rented points for our anniversary trip in December. I researched it alot, go to the DVC Rent/Trade board here and read the stickys and just get really familiar with the way it all works. Then you can post there, what you need/where/when, and people can reply back if they have points available. Pretty easy. I found a great person there to rent me points at OKW, and its SUPER cheap that way. Good luck!

Once I read Lurkyloo's PJ, I decided to rent DVC points for part of the stay. (We are renting a villa for the other half.) It will allow us to stay in a nicer Dis hotel than we would otherwise.

I read the Dis and searched through google to get more comfortable with it. I don't have them rented yet but I will soon start the process.

Lurkyloo also confirmed that the stay can go towards your room minimum but they have to be added manually.
