Remy's on the last night...need advice...

I will be on the Fantasy this September for my 40th Birthday and my actual birthday falls on the last day of the cruise which is also Castaway day...can you imagine a better Birthday?

We've done Palo Brunch and dinner many times so I wanted to try Remy's as a birthday treat but am second guessing doing it on the last night. The main reasons I wanted to do it that night were 1-it's my Birthday! and 2-I don't have to worry about missing Pirate night or any special dinner menu.

But my questions are

1. Luggage. I assume with those booked at Remy's that night they can give you a little more time to get your bags out the front door? I really don't want to pack my suit in my carry-off bags

2. The kids. I have a 2yr and 7yr old and we always have the early dining. Normally when we do Palo dinner we just get them quick service food, see the early show that night and then drop them at kids club/ nursery and do Palo @8pm. But if we do that won't Remy's go until 11 or midnight? Ouch! If we do earlier dinner we'd have to miss that show. What show is normally on the last night? (7 night Western carrib.)

I have no way of knowing this far out if there is a different night with no big production show...what would you recommend?

Different night, skip the show, or just a very late dinner? Or any other options I didn't think of?

First, that really DOES sound like the perfect birthday!

I'm going to give you my two cents but you are going to get a zillion different opinions here...

We've thought about Remy on the last night, but have avoided it for several of the reasons you describe (luggage and general hecticness, etc). We also just kinda like to spend the last night as a family on the cruise.

In your shoes, I'd do Remy another night (the night before CC is a day at sea, right?) you could start your birthday then and have your dinner with family in your rotational dining room and see the show (it's always that "farewell" show, right???). And, by that point in the cruise your rotation servers will know you well and make a BIG deal out of the birthday.

For me, Remy and the logistics with luggage, kids, etc. would be too much for the last night, so that's what I would do. Another night. Remy will still treat you like it's your birthday the night before, I'm sure!

I would book the earliest time you can get. 6 pm if available. That way you have plenty of time to eat watch the main show head to your room and get your suit cases out before the 10 pm deadline or whatever time it may be to get your suit cases out. Sounds like a perfect birthday. I will also go to your dining room at 5:45 and give your servers their tip. This December I will be at castaway cay on our anniversary and go to palo that night and it's also the last day of the cruise.

Sounds like a fantastic birthday. We always try to do Palo or Remy on our last night, just because to me it's the perfect way to top off the cruise. But we often cruise without our kids, who are teens anyway. It is a bit of a hassle dealing with packing dress clothes late on the last night, but I find it worth it in our situation. I admit that when I had younger kids I didn't make the same choice! I agree with PP who suggested if you do try it, I'd want an early reservation at Remy since it really does take 3 hours or more. That way you won't be feel too rushed for packing that night. I think whatever you decide to do, with a little planning ahead it'll work out just fine. Enjoy!

I don't see any way we can do both the Show and Remy's in the same night unless we do the show first and then an 7:30/ 8 pm Remy's. I think the earliest reservation is at 6pm and I definitely don't want to rush thru my meal. Has anyone ever actually done Remy's at 6 and still made the 8:30 evening show?

Looking at the shows & menus, my decision becomes even harder....from looking at navigators, the night before last is usually the Believe show, which we have seen on the Dream so I'd have no problem missing that show, but that night is also the Captain's Gala menu which is Lobster tail...I don't think my wife or daughter will be happy if we miss that night's menu.

The menu that seem's least impressive is the Prince & Princess on Day 4 right smack in the middle of the cruise. That night is the Wishes show...not sure I want to miss that one.

My guess is we will either do Night 4, seeing Wishes and then a late dinner (skipping Prince & Princess) or the last night, a normal-time dinner and missing the Unforgettable Journey show. Anyone have an opinion on that show?

Yes I did that had a 6 pm reservation and got done in time even had time to change out of my suit. Wasn't rushed but we are not drinkers.

Would you consider doing a Remy brunch on a sea day? Maybe then you won't miss the shows and dinners you like and won't have to worry about your luggage on the last night? We will be celebrating our anniversary on our upcoming Fantasy cruise, but our actual anniversary is our Cozumel day and I felt like we would be too tired after our excursion to really enjoy it, so I booked Remy for the night before (our first sea day). It's not our actual anniversary, but it will be more fun to celebrate it for 2 days instead of 1!
