Remember When?

Oh, I miss Tangaroa Terrace soooo much!! They had the BEST breakfast. I also liked the buffet dinner there . I remember one time they had the raw food beside the cooked food. Well, my silly Mom, put the raw food on our plates (I was little), then she realized her mistake and scrapped it off. She did not bother getting us new plates, just loaded up the same plates with hot food. To make a long story short we both got HORRIBLE food poisoning and had to stay in the room while my dad and 2 brothers lived it up. It was so totally all her fault, and this is one of our most halarious memories of WDW (are we not odd?!) Sorry about my digression, I just had to share.  :wave2:

Simba's Mom: i had forgotten about the Empress Lilly. I had once gotten some form of certificate there when I was like 6 or 7 with all sorts of pics of characters. it was white with a blue border.
its wierd how all of a sudden you can remember the most minor of details.

You can see them making the mickey waffles (not exclusive to any one location, btw) at Ohana, and Chef Mickey's features on-stage pancake making.
Also, the same chicken and ribs served at Hoop Dee Doo are still available (along with a wide assortment of foods) at the Trail's End Buffet, adjacent to Crockett's Tavern, where you can still sit on the rocking chairs whether or not you're waiting for a table.

Having only spent my first trip in 1996 the only thing that I remember that is no longer there was dinner at Fireworks Factory - that placed rocked. I loved the onion bloom it was HUGE and I thought the menu was really good. I wish they still had a restaurant on site that sold that type of food :)

My fiance raves about when Chef Mickeys was in Disney's Marketplace and how it was soooo much better - I really wish I had experienced that.

We never got around to the Gulf Coast room, but did Empress Room twice.
Also did Steerman's Quarters and Fisherman's Deck, both of which were on the Empress Lilly.
And did the Top of the World when it was a true supper club, with "name " entertainment. Saw Billy Eckstein the night we went.

I wonder if it were open still, who might they have??
I shudder to even think about it---

Fantasia Sam:
We were fans of the Fireworks factory also. Had dinner there twice and enjoyed it!!

Safari Steve, I agree that over the years so many more great places have opened or like Kona CAfe have evolved. We used to only eat breakfast at Coral Isle Cafe but Kona is sooo good for all three meals.

Still with all our new favorites, I too miss Steerman's Quarters and Fisherman's Deck as well as the great breakfast buffets at Top of the World and Papeete Bay before it became a character breakfast and well before it evolved into 'Ohana. Loved Tangaroa Terrace for breakfast when it was a la carte and after it became a buffet.

We loved Narcoossee's for lunch. It was so nice to take a boat from the MK and step off and walk right into Narcoossee's.

We never made it to Broadway on Top or the Empress Room as we were waiting for our children to be old enough! Waited too long.

I remember the character breakfast at FW, too as well as Minehune's when it was still on the first floor of the Polynesian. The food wasn't that memorable for me (not as good as when Minnie's moved upstairs) but they were the first character meals for our boys.

Memories are so sweet. I think that is one of the reasons WDW keeps drawing us back. Old memories to cherish as we build new ones.:D
