Real Ghosts in the Haunted Mansion

The "cold, cruel waters of the Rivers of America was meant to mock the jock who was too drunk to stand up.

Actually its hard to tell since the whole article is pretty anti-Disney, that some sounds sarcastic and unbelievable but with the weird cuts to Disney its hard to see where the article is coming from.

I've read this article before and they take their journalistic approach right out of the Darwin Awards handbook. Lots of sarcasm which tends to cloud the actual facts. I believe the details of this was that he was unconcious prior to hitting the water and his "entourage" was unable to find him in the murkey waters. You may notice that Disney takes special care to ensure you can't more than inch or two into the water. This is to obscure the tracks for the rides which are very close to the surface. There is just enough clearance for the service boats they use for Fantasmic which also have very shallow dipping propellers.

Anyone here of any of these stories?

True’ Mansion Ghost Stories
Contributed by Scott M. Leonard

"A woman came to Disneyland with the ashes of her little boy who always loved the Haunted Mansion. She tried to get permission to scatter his ashes in the attraction, but of course Disney wouldn't allow it. She did it anyway- adding his remains to the dust in the Mansion. "

And the CMs heaved a big sigh and went, "not another one!" Then the shut down the ride for a couple hours while they went through it with their HEPA vacuums and the child's ashes ended up in a dumpster because his mother couldn't be bothered to dispose of them properly.

Dumping ashes at Disney- a dumb idea that ends badly for everyone.

I love the idea that there are people who think the Haunted Mansion is really infested with actual ghosts and spirits! I don't buy any of it for a second but it can only make the ride more fun for those that do!

I have heard CM's say it, but I always thought it was kind of silly myself. I mean it's too convenient, but hay it does make for a great story!!

So, there we were, DF and I walking around the corner of the GH heading out toward the center hub to walk down mainstreet, and for a split second, I thought I saw a cowboy in a white hat and long duster coat, red shirt , sherrif star, long silver hair and big moustache,(yep saw all of that),I asked DF if he saw anything ,and he said no. So, I told him what I saw. I also told a cm who was working at the Le Bat En Rouge. She says it may have been that cowboy guy who worked at the GH forever and had just passed in the last few years.
I think Disneyland is haunted.
Personally, I think that anyone who would dump their kids ashes in ride in the water is lame. A. that is gross. B. wouldnt you want your kids ashes on your mantle? Eh,what ever, thats just me.
Oh, I had seen the ghost just recently, in December of 2007.

I too believe Disneyland is haunted, but I'm guessing all of their ghosts are friendly types of ghosts.

oh yeah totally, he didnt scare me , I actually had a kind of good feeling like he was still there entertaining, doing his job. I do always look for ghosts in the HM , I just know there must be atleast one in there!

I've always wondered why they don't "occasionally" place real CM's in the ride to really give guests an unexpected surprise. Ya know like have them move around often...never know where' they'll be next. :scared1:

The answer to this question is a simple one. It's supposed to be cheeky and cute.

Disneyland also prefers that every rider have the same experience on an attraction. This is true for many attractions. People have been fired for "wandering" about on the Jungle Cruise during operating hours. It compromises the experience in the eyes of management.

I'm sure there are legal reasons as well. It's very dark in there and DisneyLawyers would prefer their staff to be in areas with lit walkways. Having cast members stroll about in the dark would not be safe and opens the door to lawsuits.

/Not an attack.

Its an older article and I have to say that it almost sounds fake sometimes how ridiculous the whole thing comes off sounding but here is the link

http://tafkac.org/death/disney_deaths.html

BTW this has to be one of the more ridiculous quotes from the whole thing

In June of 1983, the island lured a second young man to his death in yet another grad night tragedy. That evening, Phil Straughan of Albuquerque had a double cause for celebration: his graduation and his 18th birthday. In an innocent display of youthful high spirits, he and a friend "borrowed" an inflatable rubber maintenance boat for an impromptu nighttime cruise on the river. Near the deadly island, they struck a rock. Phil was flung into the river. As a football player, he had the strength to struggle valiantly. But he was no match for the power of the Rivers of America as four feet of cold, cruel water closed over his head. Rescuers recovered his drowned body an hour later. In all apparent sincerity, a Disney spokesperson said, "It's a really, really sad thing on what's supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life."

Snopes reports that the Guy was actually drinking heavily, which would explain things a bit better then the above scenario http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/deaths.asp They also list other deaths as well, including Betty from Innovations, but she has her own page, the link is at the bottom of the page.

okay...I read that whole thing and it's just ridiculous. it has to be some kind of joke or something. it's not just on that site, it's on a bunch of other sites too. the reason i think it's a joke is because of lines like this one..

"Equally hazardous to park visitors is the PeopleMover. Hurtling through the sterile corporate future of Tomorrowland at a speed of two miles per hour, it is plainly a menace to the life and limb of every guest"

i mean...people dying at disneyland (or anywhere) is not funny. but i have to admit that the article from that page is pretty funny.

oh...and i LOVE snopes.com
especially the disney section stuff.
and the people flashing on splash mountain cracks me up every time. weirdos.

Actually the haunted mansion had a CM in Armor for a while but they had issues with people getting mad or CM's making bad calls.

Here's a tiny snipet about it

This could explain the little boy's ghost crying. His ashes didn't get to stay at his desired resting place forever.
