That seems wise. It seemed more like a MDX server issue from the way everyone had the same experience, probably similar to high traffic days for FP. So if everyone is delayed by the same amount, no one is getting a advantage/disadvantage over another. And honestly I probably wouldn’t usually notice/be that bothered by a 20-30second lag except everything is so heightened when you are standing in a crowd of 500 people and then the overhead announcement comes on to say “virtual queue is now available” and yet nothing is happening :sad2::headache:
Thanks! Yeah - this seemed much different than @GADisneyDad14’s morning where people were cheering and others left in the dark. It was still a level playing field!

Anyway to see how many people per group!?
That isn’t known. Anything reported on it is speculation. Many are assuming 75-100 per BG. Additionally, I personally am assuming that the # in a BG remains consistent from day to day (amd hour to hour) because it’s just not a variable that needs to be changed by Disney to manage the crowd flow.

All that said, I feel like we all shouldn’t really care as it doesn’t really impact our planning in any meaningful way.

Hope you don't mine me jumping in to ask the experts, I really don't want to read all 207 pages!

I will have only one day to get a boarding pass, and unfortunately it will be on a Sunday on a predicted busy day. The park opens an hour early for EMH. Does that mean we will get to get a boarding pass before the non Disney Hotel guests?

If not, do you have to stay in a certain area for good reception? If I have to wait for regular park opening time, I am afraid that the extra park hour is really worthless since I would be afraid I might be in the middle of a ride, when it becomes time to get a boarding pass, right?

Based on what you are saying, I assume you aren't visiting until April, is that correct? All DHS EMHs through March 29th have been moved to the evening. Although we have no knowledge of Disney's future plans, it seems clear from the history that they will continue to move EMHs to the evening for the foreseeable future, so I would assume that will occur for your park day as well.

And using that assumption then the rest of your questions aren't needed then. :) I'd stay posted as the process could change at any time, and I'd prepare based on how things work today.

Actually it is in Feb., so thank you for the heads up that the times have changed! I was looking on an unofficial site and they still had the old hours posted.

So will the likely still be letting people in early, or have they stopped that too? If the park opening is posted for 9am, what time would you now suggest arriving, please?

I’d keep your eye on the official Disney sites for changes to the opening times (I’m there in Feb too) and plan timings then. Check out the chart in this thread (pinned in first post I think) to see how early people are being let in before official opening as a guide to how early before opening to arrive.
You can’t get a boarding group before official opening time FYI, and you (and anyone in your group that wants a boarding pass) needs to have entered the park before you can get one.

If it was a 9am opening I would arrive 40 mins before - but I’m assuming it’ll be an earlier opening than that probably but who knows! :-)

Good morning :D Ha, I know you're not up yet WestCoast Sleeper :)

Maybe it would help to post a few points on the chart to answer the frequently asked questions. Going into the second month, it's hard for people to dig up some answers within all these posts.

There is no confirmed data for:
How many riders are in each BG
The last Back-up BG number each day
Whether Wi-Fi/data or certain phone models work best

Also note (so far):
RoR does not operate during EMH
BG cannot be joined during EMH (only during regular park hours)
HS official hours and EMHs can change, watch MDE for your dates

Well, something like that. Haven't had my coffee yet but... You get the gist.

Yes. I did this last year to ride MF - was staying at the Swan one night before moving to CR - I arrived late evening and planned to/did rope-drop the next morning during the 6 am EMH period. I actually called my local disney store to see if one had been returned there and was in luck.
Thanks! Definitely considering rush shipping a couple of bands before Friday. But in case I don't, I want to make sure I understand my alternative.

I would have to get to HS, go through security, then wait for guest relations or a ticket window to open, which might not be till 30 minutes before park open thus possibly getting us in late and missing our best window of opportunity.

Or I could go to DS the day before and see guest relations there? I don't suppose there's any info on hours of operation?

According to the DS website :

Hours:
  • Sunday through Thursday: 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM
  • Friday and Saturday: 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM

There’s the Ticket Center at Disney Springs and there’s Guest Relations which are separate buildings. We were there yesterday around 1 pm and there were long lines for each of them.

You won't miss joining a bg if you're st dhs early. The ticket window will open early enough

Wow. Just tried to get on at home, to see how my phone's MDX is working, and at 7:05, it said "backup boarding group." Wow. I thought the 5-minute madness was over.
