And so have I. But the truth of the matter is on the 4 days 1/2 thru 1/5 they disappeared in about 2 minutes each day. Yesterday’s 13 minutes and today’s 5 is an improvement. I’m not sure we’re going to see it go back to 30 minutes.

I am so thankful for all of you who have posted on this thread! We are going MLK weekend (HS day is Sunday) and I just moved our hotel from Disney Springs area to Dolphin- I figure it will make it easier to walk! My family isn’t thrilled with the whole leave the hotel at 6am- stand around to 7am (at least) but we love Star Wars so I think it will be worth it! I promise to report my experience on the 19th!

same boat, we arrive MLK weekend, Sunday is HS. May we both have low BGs! We also are avid Star Wars fans.

Hi everyone, just a couple of questions that hopefully someone can clear up..
1. Is there a ballpark timeline how how long the actual RotR experience/ ride take from getting in line to exiting? I just wonder if a FP is overlapping with my BG getting called, what should I do?
2. This leads to can you “lose” your BG if you don’t come within a certain time?
3. Can anyone confirm if people should have their own MDE accounts and attempt to grab a BG for their party (every account has the appropriate people linked etc) or can multiple people use the same MDE login?
4. I believe MF:SR will be open during late magic hours, would that be an accurate assumption?

Everyone should login under the same MDE account and password or you could end up not all being in the same boarding group.

I'm a bit behind, so if someone already corrected this then I apologize for piling on.

This is NOT correct though. You create your boarding group by selecting people from your friends/family list. So dh could create our boarding group from HIS MDE account or I could create our boarding group from MY account. Either way, we'll end up together as long as we select the same members of our group. As long as you are able to make fastpasses for the people in your intended boarding group, you should have no problems using your MDE account to create the group when the time comes. Hope that makes sense.

There are a lot of variables at play but it really shouldn’t impact your planning or experience.

1) see#2, there should be enough time to do both, but worst case, you can do a standby line for any other FP+ ride, so the BG should be your #1 priority.
2) When your BG is called you have (2) hours to make it into the BG queue
3) multiple people can login to the same MDE account. It’s best to keep the same number of MDE account(s) you had before booking this vacation.

Is there any theory as to why the boarding groups are filling up so quickly the last few days? Are the crowds bigger at rope drop now than they were on days when the boarding groups were open a lot longer? We will be there next week and I was hoping that boarding groups would be open for more than five minutes.

I think the BGs are filling up quicker because now everybody knows you need to be inside HS before ropedrop if you'd like to try RoR, and most people do. If normally a park sees 20% of their day guests show up at rope drop, then HS is probably seeing double that or more.
APs finally gaining access this past week has also increased interest and park open demand.

I will continue to rely on all you to provide the info while our fearless OP and Mod goes off to face the trials of the marathon! (And Trust me I NEED you for info because I don't wake up early...except on vacation).

I downloaded it tonight and made sure it was updated with all the info Ryan had so far. I also added a column for DAY just so that people can start to look at what previous Saturdays or Mondays (etc.) looked like. So here is "THE CHART" (which is basically the same as the one just posted) and I will commence updating it tomorrow!

So in case it wasn't clear - the data points (DPs) we're looking to continue to share are:

• When did tapstiles open
• Did BGs open up RIGHT at 7am (anything else would be major news)
• When did REGULAR BGs get full
• When did BACKUP BGs get full
• # of Reg BGs is easy to grab once backups are full
• Total at end of day I usually catch but still report that too!

I love the added day column. Would I be pushing it to ask about adding a minutes column to show how long between Regular BGs being dropped and filled? With the hour of opening changing, it's hard to get a clear view of the trends quickly.

Hi everyone! New to this thread. Many thanks to all for the outstanding and comprehensive information. Trying to digest it all.

We will be at HS Sunday, February 2. Currently park open is 9:00. So, would we follow the same timeframe others are using for the 7:00 open, but two hours later? Might Disney change the opening time to 8:00?

Will certainly be following the thread for updates.

DH and I are there that day as well (don’t worry, we’re a small group!). Our EMHs have been moved to evening. Right now, as you mentioned, park opening is listed at 9, but I’m hoping it shifts earlier. Will be checking this right up until the night before. Very best of luck to you!

I am heading to the world for my first MW (running the half) and I NEED this chart in my life to help me strategize how to tackle Sunday morning, with the first 8am opening we’ve seen in a while.....not sure if I want them to move it earlier to 7am or not (1 less hour of sleep vs. potential fighting larger opening crowd)
