Seeing that my name has been mentioned in this thread, I guess I should post what I posted in the other thread:

The DFB article doesn't say that Disney has announced a change. It just says that they just discovered it can be done. It could probably have been done all along. Disney doesn't know when people leave the park. You don't have to swipe your magicband or ticket card when leaving. If you use your data plan, rather than Disney wifi, to book your RotR boarding group at 1:00 and have your cellphone location blocked, Disney doesn't know where you are. The DFB article says it can be done from anywhere on Disney property. I wouldn't be surprised if it could be done from off-property too. Disney may want people to actually still be in DHS at 1:00. But if they don't know where you are, . . .

Thank you (again!) ☺️

Moral of the story... if DFB wants to know how things really work at Disney, they need to start following these boards 🤣

More than anything it bugs me when these site's mislead people as 'Something NEW!' that has been around already. They can share that this can be done without the false advertising of it being new.

People here have been sharing since day 1 that they've gotten a BG from outside DHS at 1:00 (formerly 2:00) as long as they had already tapped into the park that day.

It's all in the presentation of what they share.

I agree. Sorry guys. Thanks for clarifying!!

Interesting that AllEars also posted the same ROTR "news" that DFB posted today. Different articles, different authors, but I've noticed both AllEars and DFB frequently post the same news on the same day. Makes me wonder if they're sharing the same pool of "reporters."

From what I understand, they are owned by the same person.

This is nothing new. It has been this way for a very long time.

If it did, it was by accident. Our park reservation reminder clearly stated that you had to be in DHS to join a 1pm boarding group.

A second round of virtual queue inventory will be released at 1 p.m., for anyone who wasn’t already able to join a boarding group earlier in the day. Keep in mind, Guests must be inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios to access this second virtual queue opportunity, and access to a boarding group is subject to availability and not guaranteed.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. From Google I found that AllEars creator/founder Deb W retired in 2018 and sold the site to friends. Apparently she still is (or was) a writer for the site. But I couldn't find the new owner(s) name listed anywhere.

Still doesn't make sense though - why cover the same news by different authors on the two sites if they have the same owner/source?

More clicks equals more money, I suppose? 🤔

Kenny the Pirate posted it today too. Once one blogger says it, they all do.

YES! BG 29! Today will be our first time riding, so excited! I was very nervous indeed because while I had a good track record with my practice runs, they were all at home with an excellent wifi speed of over 300 Mbps (based on the Speedtest app) whereas hotel wifi here is more like 15 Mbps and my Verizon LTE signal even slower. Still, I went with wifi on my iPhone 8, hoped for the best, and it worked! Thanks so much to all for the great advice!

I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all their help. Group 28 this morning!
Also want to say THANKS to everyone for all the help and wisdom… landed Group 26 this morning!

Congrats and enjoy the ride!

I am sure that this answer is somewhere in these pages it I have no idea where. Could someone tell me the best/easiest way to test if WiFi vs Cellular is faster in my hotel room?

I use fast.com. Gives you an instant speed test. Good luck!

Speedtest.net is also another good one. For the results you want to look for the best combination of high download and upload speeds as well as the lowest ping.
