How bad was the Starbucks line before BGs became available this morning? Yes, I am considering showing up early just so I can get through the line and have my java in hand before RD. Think of trying for MFSR after dinner so will head to TSL first for TSMM and Aliens at RD.
There are 3 kiosks in DHS which sell Joffrey's coffee. The kiosks also sell muffins. Many CMs don't know about them. My wife was waiting for us during our snack break while riding RotR, she wanted to sleep late. Starbucks had a long line. She asked several CMs where else to get coffee. They had no idea.

Just make sure you have time to finish the drink or have somewhere to keep it while you ride! On my first trip a few years ago, I made the mistake of stopping for Starbucks on the way to TSMM for a FP that was about to expire. Drinks aren’t allowed in the queue so I had to finish the drink a lot quicker than I had planned (my other option was throwing it away which Icouldn’t bring myself to do!).

But every evening you can see how the wait time for falcon just drops dramatically
This is still the damnedest thing to me and it's been consistently happening, since the ride opened, every day at both DHS and DL. The posted wait time @ DL for MFSR was 15 minutes for the last almost 2 hours the park was open yesterday, but peaked at like 2 hours. The only other rides with that pattern are kiddie rides and rides that get you wet.

people tend to use the tapstiles closest to the bag check entrance, so the middle and far left tapstiles are constantly used and usually have a longer wait, the one to the far right, since it's the furthest walk, doesn't get that busy
Plus there is a construction wall blocking off the right side up to the ticket counters. Once you pass that, there are tapstile lanes open to the far right, so traffic flows to them from the people closest to that opening.

Without fastpasses, that may be the natural pattern.

5:48 Arrived via lyft
6:40 tapped in and walked down Hollywood Blvd
7:01 got group 32
How was availability of lyft at that hour? Never mind saw the answer.

by the way all you people are true Disney freaks.

these graphs and spreadsheets are fantastic. Glad to see the community Is still as OCD as ever.

Most just want to do the falcon first, leaving the evening for fantasmic and fireworks.

6:29 am left room to see if skyliners open.
They don’t open until 6:45 am
6:30 called Lyft
6:32 in Lyft
Had no bags went to right (but not last two. Seemed like line 4th from the right was fastest
6:45 tapped in
7:00 am BG opened My daughter did four of us and I did the rest. She was one second faster and got 9 and I got 34.
7:14 am BG 9 called (we had a daughter not feeling 100% so that’s why we split. I wanted her to be able to ride as soon as possible and go back to the room and knew my teenage daughter has super fast reflexes.)
My group 34 Rode ToT, TSMM, SDD (had FP), and ate at ToyBox.
9:14 am in line (we were a little delayed from being called.)
9:31 am on ride
Does this mean you can only add so many people to the boarding group? That you and your daughter had to both get them? We are a party of 9.

Thanks! I'm heading to WDW in early February. The only plan I have for my second day at the parks is SWGE. I haven't been to WDW in 8 years, so day 1 is all things Pandora and Animal Kingdom (and I got a FP for FOP!!!) and day 2 is all things SWGE and DHS. I got a FP for SDD. So really, my main concerns are for day 2, getting a boarding group for RotR and riding MFSR. So if I can likely get on MFSR in the evening, that leaves all my worrying for RotR! :)

Sayhello

Us too! I am taking 4 Star Wars fans and their main objective for this trip is to see SWGE. As the trip planner, I just keep reading all of these threads to try to learn how I can plan the best for their experience.

There's two shows, one projection show and one firework show right after in HS right now. Between it and Fantasmic, night time has a lot of draws.

I forgot to mention earlier but I confirmed with a guest relations CM if they could help us if we had an early BG and wanted to bump it back. He said as long as BGs were still available they could do that. It's my backup plan for Sat since we're at AK most of the day with FPs then coming back to HS for an ADR.

It seems like each backup boarding group may be getting assigned more guests than the initial boarding groups. Evidence: (a) each backup BG is called slower (9-10 per hour instead of 13-14); and (b) backup BGs take much longer to fill in the morning than the initial groups (2:45 for 38 groups). Perhaps this is to compensate for the likely fewer available backup guests in the park when BGs are called (in comparison with the initial groups). Maybe the initial groups are assigned 100 per group and the backups are 200? Just a random thought.

Today, there were 106 Initial BGs, and 36 Backup BGs.
  • Initial 106 BGs took 7.5 hours to begin line entry = approx. 14 BGs per hour
  • Backup 38 took around 5 hours to begin line entry = approx. 7.5 BGs per hour
