If I fly into Orlando on Friday night, and stay at Amerisuites ($59 and free shuttle to/from the airport, plus breakfast), what happens to the luggage? Does it travel with us? Would it stay at the airport? Does this make things more difficult?

I was just thinking rather than stressing over the plane being delayed due to some weather or something, we could spend the night in Orlando and wake leisurely the next morning and catch the DCL shuttle from the airport. It sounds like the shuttle itself is interesting. Or would it be easier to price Tiffany?

Thanks!!!!

Yep, you luggage stays with you till you get to the port. The baggage claim area is not too far from where you meet the hotel shuttles, although you will have to take an elevator or escalator. We've stayed at the Amerisuites, and they were pretty prompt about picking us up after we called (there are free direct-line phones in the baggage claim area). Then the towncar will pick you up and drive you to the port, and a porter there will take all of your luggage except your daybag. The rest will be delivered to you later. We do this all the time, and it's really quite smooth. This time we are stayed at the Renaissance and Happy Limo will pick us up Thurs. morning (we like the Amerisuites, but we got through Priceline and Hotwire so we ended up someplace different this time). It's so much more relaxed to fly in early, and the luggage really isn't much of a hassle.

Barb...how does it work if I take the DCL bus? The stuff I have read says you see you luggage at your home airport and then not again till in your room.

Dopey, because you're looking at arriving the night before, you'll need to claim your luggage and take it with you to the hotel. In the morning you'll need to take your luggage back to the airport where you'll check in for the DCL bus. Once you've handed your luggage over to the DCL employees on the morning of your cruise, you won't have to touch it again until it arrives at your stateroom.

I know I must sound ******** as I still don't get this but....
We have decided to go with Happy limo, after checking prices (which were all basically the same range) we decided your recommendation was the best way to go. (How do I know if the other guys will show up etc :) ) anyhow, we are at the amerisuites and can have happy limo pick us up there but how do we handle the luggage? I know it goes with us in the town car but when we get to the port what happens? Sorry to sound like a dummy. ann

Barb and Dave...thank you so much for all the helpful info you have given me...you guys are the greatest.

Ann...I know how you feel...being a first time cruiser, I am feeling very lost too...I have no true idea but my guess would be if you take a limo, the DCL people at the ship have something akin to curbside check in.
