They might offer different packages for different events and they might not - so I don't have too much knowledge on this.
Wait to see how the coach/school handles the packages. You might just have to pay for your meals only.
We did have a very similar situation in June of 07. My daughter went to the Track and Field Competition (or whatever it was called) at Disney's Wide World of Sports. We had the option of staying in a value or a moderate - priced accordingly - (I could have stayted in one of our
DVC resorts if I wanted and save that expense). Whatever the occupancy limit is for that room, that is what is allowed. My daughter and I chose a moderate - I could have brought my husband and/or my son along - price would have been the same for the room. A friend/competitor actually stayed at Port Orleans Riverside because they allow 5 people. He brought his family down. This hotel was not part of the package, but he paid for it on his own since he works for ABC and gets a nice discount on the rooms. We more or less made our own package and chose only what we needed at their offered discount - which was part of this event.
We also had the option of buying whatever # of days, # of people park tickets we wanted. Again - slight discount than regular priced ones. You can choose not to buy any tickets if you are going just for the competition (the competition was not in the parks so no park entry required). If we had any left over non-expiration tickets from previous visit or AP - we were not required to buy any tickets. Even though my daughter was going to be needed for 3 days for her events, I think we chose to stay 5 nights also - that was another option.
Good luck and I hope you get to go with minimal expense to you.
Again - this was my experience. It was not a bad deal w/the discount.
