Single cruising with sisters family.

My two daughters are cruising next year. One daughter is single. The other one has a husband and 2 kids. It’s significantly less expensive to book one kid with the single aunt rather than with the parents. Kid plans to stay in room with parents. Any issues with this?

Only "issues" would be that the single daughter (with one of the kids) would have to sign a permission slip for the parents to take the child off the ship in ports. And, the child would have to attend muster drill with aunt (not really a problem if both rooms have the same muster station).

Depending on the ship and room category, some staterooms only have sleep surfaces for 3 guests (the queen bed and sofa bed). They'll need to make sure the parents' room sleeps 4 to have a bed for the other child.

And just to note -- the overall price for the party of 5 is less expensive this way, and less expensive for the single aunt; however the fare for the child is actually more. Depending on who planned to pay for the cruise fares, they may need to make some concessions on that.

The first two people in a stateroom pay adult prices, no matter how old the second person. The child staying with the aunt will pay the adult price not the kid price. Staying with the rest of the fam, the kid would pay the kid price. While the overall cost of the 5 people would be less, it won’t be less for the fam of 4 if they pay the adult rate for the kid with auntie.

We’ve done this a few times with DSis who is single. Usually, DH would be listed in the room with DSis and then our son would be listed in the room with me.

How we handled the finances is that my family of three would pay what we would have paid if we were booked together in one stateroom, and DSis would pay the difference between the second adult fare vs the third person fare.
