Skyliner stroller red tag capacity limited ADA discrimination

Disney allows two folded wheelchairs onto one skyliner, which means two people with a disability that requires a wheelchair can be on the same cabin if they are folded up.

There is an important distinction between an individual with a folded manual wheelchair/SAW and an individual who “rolls on” seated in the wheelchair. For the purposes of evacuation standards one is considered to be ambulatory and the other not. Yes reality may differ from that but as already stated evacuation procedures (which drive the occupancy limits) are based on such assumptions.

WDW is not going to question each party nor weigh each guest to customize the occupancy of gondolas. Standards are used.

Disney can ask, and in other places they do ask, “are you comfortable transferring in the event of an emergency.” That’s a reasonable thing to ask and isn’t too burdensome.

Sorry for my ignorance, but a question. The alleged discrimination is around a large group of 10 having to split into 2 gondolas on the Skyliner instead of fitting into one?

People will try to sue for anything this day and age. Sad that Disney will have to spend money to defend themselves for this which in turn gets passed along to guests in the end

For the attractions they are asking “can you transfer?” to know which ride vehicle you need. They aren’t asking about emergency procedures. It would unnecessarily slow the transportation flow of the skyliner if they had to ask every party boarding with a mobility device. You aren’t the only party — hundreds move through the skyliner hourly. Standards are needed.

You know, it’s delusional to think that if you’re travelling with a party of ten, mobility device or not, that you WON”T be split at times. I mean, come on. Not all restaurants can accommodate a party that size and they will split your party. With 10 you may be split on rides. I went to dinner with a big group one night and we got split on the monorail. That’s to be expected with big parties.

This is false. Frivolous cases brought by attorneys can be subject to sanctions.

it would actually increase capacity of the skyliner by opening up capacity! The current policy results in a party of 7-10 with a red tag to be placed in a two cabins, but if the policy as it should be is in use then they all can be within the same cabin which would increase the input. The process is simple. The person who asks how many people the party has, if they say a number 1-6 that’s the end of the process, if they say 7-10 then the cast member asks about the mobility issue in the event of an evacuation.

This is reasonable under the ADA and actual benefits Disney from a capacity standpoint.

of course a party will be split up at times, but just because the party would be split up at some point doesn’t mean the ADA law is irrelevant. No argument is being made that a party of ten has to sit together on Peter Pan.
