Nintendo Switch 2

Deregistering doesn’t make it unusable or blank anything out.

Everything will remain as is on your existing switch, it just changes which console becomes your primary.

The primary console is more for digital games or anything with NSO. If you aren’t on a primary console Nintendo will do a check to see if you have access to it before it immediately launches.

Hmm. So, that's not a System Transfer - Doesn't a System Transfer take everything off of the old unit?

System transfer will send over any hardware based save data. The big one for this tended to be Pokemon (though the Bank has also mitigated some of this).

You can de-register a Switch without a system transfer.

Did that with my kids and made one of theirs the primary for my account and mine the secondary. Made loading and travel more of a hassle because I always needed a WiFi connection every 3 hours for a single game or any game change.

So, can I access cloud saves regardles sof which unit is primary or secondary? What about NSO features?

Cloud saves should be accessible over both IIRC.

The NSO features such as the classic consoles will launch automatically on your primary, and require a check to see if you can use them on your secondary, that check will happen every 3 hours of continuous gameplay, or each time you open a different one on the secondary.

80 units? That's good. I hope a lot of people got one. Walmart delivered mine at 6:10 AM today. They even threw in a can of Pringles and a 20 oz. Coke - nice of them. 😁

Unfortunately, I won't have time to mess with it until later as I am working today. I may get it hooked up and downloading over lunch, so I can enjoy it this evening.
WOW I thought my console was early from Walmart at 7:00am! I got the Pringles and a Coke Zero and it made me happy. 🤣 The Mario Kart game from Walmart came about 3 hours later.

The Best Buy console came around 4pm. Still waiting on the Best Buy game.

I was concerned a pre-order would cancel on me so I left both.

I never transferred my Wii to my Wii U so I didn't transfer my Switch. I may regret that since it's portable, but I don't plan on selling it.

The only additional accessory I purchased is the Switch2 GameCube controller from the Nintendo Store. The Switch2 Pro controller isn't that different from Switch for me to upgrade full price. Costco has it $10 less in stock if anyone is interested.

So I didn't transfer, but I can see my NSO cloud saves, so that's good. They used to make it really difficult on the DS to do that. I don't know what it ALL just can't be account based.

I've discovered a new issue - Nintendo really fancified this thing and it will not talk to my AV receiver. The HDMI is just more 2.0-i-er than my older unit can handle. It's weird because it can do 4K, HDR, Atmos, etc. I just can't take it from Switch 2. Apparently, Switch 2 requires "Ultra High Speed HDMI" and eARC for the TV to pass audio - nor ARC, but eARC. Man.

Well, Switch 1 made me by a new TV too as it didn't like my old one. Granted, at the time, that one was VERY old - it was HD, but only 1080i and Switch simply didn't support any resolutions that were interlaced. So it ws either 480p or get a new TV. I didn't do that for about a year or so (I used my computer monitor for Switch until then), so the TV is not all that old either, but I guess it's too old to have eARC.

And I thought Nintendo never used the latest tech!

Also I tried to cancel my target pre-order after having one in my hands and Target said it was too close to it shipping to cancel.

Has it shipped as of June 5th, no, but it will “soon”.

I will say the Switch 2 pro controller felt more substantive than the first one, and the GL/GR buttons seem interesting, but could also just get the charging grip and still have those buttons.

Oh thanks for letting me know. It always felt strange to transfer my old content:

I am probably an old electronics hoarder 🤣

Ugh a new receiver sounds like an expensive Switch2 upgrade!

Target was so frustrating on pre-order day! I wanted that 5%, but it wasn't worth it. Hopefully it's an easy return for you.

Ridiculous it couldn't meet the demand. I am very impressed that Walmart did so well. I was scared when I saw it was shipping from store, but I guess there was a reason.

Also just a PSA after you initially set up the console it will immediately start downloading what feels like every digital title you may have acquired. The downloads still only go one at a time and can be stopped but my storage was about to get maxed out before even having a chance at getting Mario Kart World installed

I got the 256gb SanDisk... I am tempted to return for the Onn (Walmart brand) 512gb, but IDK how good it is!?

Oh, yeah - me too! Though in the case of games systems I still use them. I've got my NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube - all hooked up to a CRT, in ready to play condition. Granted I mostly only hit the NES/SNES and these days there are otehr ways, but sometimes I just wanna rock that old hardware.

Yeah, I am looking into potential solutions, but not sure yet. I'll just have to live with stereo until I figure it out.

I got one from target this morning. I went at 7:15 before they opened at 8 and I was the only one there. After about 10 minutes an employee came out and asked if I was waiting for a Switch, I said I was. She then took my name and phone number to add to a digital queue to be guaranteed to buy one when the store opened. They had 35 bundle with Mario cart, and 35 with no Mario. I got the no Mario was we wanted the physical media instead of the digital. I was able to then go wait in my car til the store opened. There ended up being about 25 people by the time the store opened and we all walked back to the electronics section and waited for our name to be called to pay. It was super nice and easy. They had a few games to buy but not pro controllers or accessories. I had already preordered Mario cart and donkey Kong physical media games from GameStop when we missed the preorder.
