Good morning!

Target has some sort of ink program that is cheaper, I forget what it is, but DD buys ink there when she can. I want to say the container is recycled or something. She uses most of the ink so it works out. If I buy it I just get the regular ink. Lynn, I‘m glad you got your printer working! Impressed! 👍🏻 I agree with Don about keeping it, but how much you wanna bet the one you have now will now go forever! :lmao: We have the big printer that scans and I think works as a Fax. DD showed me recently how to scan using my iPhone and I could hardly believe it! I had a big project to scan and email and for some reason couldn’t use our printer. The iPhone worked beautifully! (Scan in Notes, then download to Saved Files, and can send from there.)

@B&B Your dad sounds like someone I’d love to chat with to hear his life story and how it all went down! One of the things I love best about working with different people all the time, and many returning so there’s familiarity. Which reminds me of something funny that happened recently (and was likely how I lost my debit card). I was driving to the hospital and I saw a patient of mine I’m close with out in the street with his truck half blocking traffic and looking a little frazzled. I pulled up beside him and jokingly gave him a hard time about his bad parking job, then pulled over so we could chat a bit (blocking more traffic :lmao: ). Just prior to that I had taken my debit out and stuck it in my pocket for easy access to the bank machine when I went in and the distraction must’ve caused me to not put it in my pocket all the way. Anyway, I texted him later to tell him that had made my day! He’d shared some bad news about his family, but his spirit was so strong and bright himself and his philosophy of life just made me smile. He’d fought very hard to be here still, and he acknowledged over and over that he was! (I mean, how many people say every day that they are just happy to be alive? I was with him during some of his worst days, and he was one of the two guys I lent my headphones to as he loved music.) He’d put on some of his best clothes that day I saw him because, well, why not? 😆 It was such a contrast to see this guy all duded up but a with dressing also hanging off of his neck and another on his chest revealed when he pulled back his shirt to show me, lol, but the best part was that he was just so happy to be alive! Inspirational guy and likely one of my favorite patients ever! (I know your DH is a transplant recipient!)

You guys are right about crossing the picket line - I think that’s why things turned violent yesterday. Not good. (DH just texted me that his delivery truck made it out and should be arriving shortly.) Restaurants probably change their menus if certain dishes require items they can’t easily get or are very expensive. I went by my favorite restaurant that closed recently and it made me a little sad to see that something else is going in there. I’m glad something else is going in, but they’d put so much time and love into the old place. I remember when the kids were little the concept of things closing down or changing names intrigued them. There would be a thousand questions if somewhere shut down and reopened like a place we liked to go, lol.

Well all this talk of weather reminds me of a story I’ve probably told here before, but will tell again. It highlights how the weather changes this time of year so quickly. I was in the hospital for ten days having my twins. When I went in, it was 70 degrees out and I was in shorts. When I came out, it was in the 30s and DH had to bring me some warm clothes and shoes to wear home! Always around this week it’s like that, every year! It’s been sort of nice here, haven’t had to have the heat on for several days which the dogs love because I can keep the sunroom open and they like to lay out there and watch the bunnies and squirrels.

We made the decision we’re going to order out for bday dinner instead of trying to shop and cook with me still on quarantine. It will just be easier. DD stopped at the store for me this morning. I had her buy a dozen boxes of tissues, lol, we are almost completely out. I stock three bathrooms and everyone has some in their room, too, so we go through lots. She brought me a nice donut and made me a coffee. Darn if I tried, but I couldn’t even taste it. 😬 i used all the sprays and cough syrup and all that but everything is still clogged. Oh, well, I have lots to do today. I will pace myself!

Have a good day, everyone! 🐥(Sorry so long!)

It was a little chilly this morning when we got up, dropped into the upper 40's overnight. Will be in the upper 60's during the day. We get this blessed cooler weather for a couple of days and then will head back up into the 80's this weekend.

I was reading online that the Kroger/Albertson merger is not a done deal. Still has to be approved. Kroger is second behind Walmart and Albertsons sits at fourth. In our little county, it's the smallest one in Texas, we have two Krogers, two Tom Thumbs, one Fresh by Brookshires, one Aldi and two Super Walmarts. If the merger goes through, I wonder how that will affect the Tom Thumbs.

Good Morning Friends,

Guess what was just delivered? A HUGE batch of old mail! ✉️ Dad saw a mailman who he didn’t recognize when he went outside earlier to get his daily newspaper. We did finally get our ballots along with a bunch of magazines for dad. I got one piece of missing personal mail. We shall see what happens this afternoon. I was going to start marking missing mail on usps along with calling the 800#. Dad was set to go tomorrow to the main post office branch although when he went there last year it resulted in a very long wait for nothing we didn’t already know (not enough mail carriers). Glad he doesn’t need to do that for now. Thank you :grouphug: to all of you for your concern and suggestions. It is very strange indeed. Although, as I said, I believe the root cause is postal workers are just so few and sadly poorly supported. Much appreciation to them all along with all delivery folks out there.

Came back to ask do any of you have Hican (Hickory/Pecan) Trees out there? If so, would you please take its picture for me. I sure had never heard of such a tree until a friend in IL shared that the story she is writing for the book I am working on involved such a tree. Thank you 🌳

Still keeping in prayer, the bowl situation. I need to make a decision within the next couple of days. If I did send back the bowl, I want to allow plenty of time within the 30-day time frame since I received it for the company to get it. Ideally, I realized, it would make so much more sense and cents if I could find someone who wanted both the small and this big bowl. Pay one flat rate $10.60 shipping charge and get my money back on both bowls plus at least some of the shipping and start completely over. That way I could get dad the narrow rim bowl and either a small plate or perhaps a toy/decorative mini license plate as well. All good though. Blessed to have options!

:thanks: so much, Kirby for the article link! From my own experiences, Ralph’s customer service (800#) is wonderful whereas Pavilion’s is often lacking. Both supermarkets are great in store. Dad shops much more often at Ralph’s (at least twice a week) than Pavilions (once a week). It will be interesting to see what happens. Prayers a possible merger will also, of course, provide better support for workers. Our friend Aurora does a fantastic job at Ralph’s that’s for sure. Pavilions bakers do try as well.

Mail around noon, dear Pea, rarely occurs around here! I do remember pre pandemic that mail was delivered to the church office by 10am. Friends who live very close to the church also get morning mail. When we have regular mail delivery, it generally comes between 2-4pm. Big :grouphug: and please continue to take good care. Why not ask your kids what they think about having an extra birthday celebration once you are all well? Added memories to cherish and thankfulness all-around including for your better health. Something more positive and fun for you to focus on. Just a suggestion.

:thanks:, Luckyrabbit (always good to see you pop in), and Pea for the thread link.

Thanks, B&B. I’m sorry to hear you have also had experiences with missing mail. In the past we have definitely had issues where we have gotten mail for other buildings or our neighbors in this building or even next door have gotten our mail. So glad to hear your TV is covered. Black Friday is definitely a great time to look for more expensive needed items. I hope you find a new 📺 at a good price.

:grouphug: on your dad, Footballmouse. He sounds like a wonderful man. Much prayer for much more peaceful and full night’s rests ahead of for you as well!

Brr, Lynn! I am cold just thinking about 38 degrees, eek. Lol, I’m feeling a bit chilly typing this here! That is more time of life change than anything else going on. Printer wise, my suggestion is always to look at the prices of ink refills which quickly have a way of costing way more than the printer ever did. Prayers you find a good printer. We have liked the Canon Pixma printers over the years. :grouphug:Just read your last post. How frustrating indeed! Electronics truly sometimes are just trouble!

:hug:Judique, and how thankful to God extra I am that you and a friend will have Disney and other fun next month. Just Googled Cracker Barrel to see whether there were any locations out here. There is one out in Camarillo. As an FYI to all of you, at least pre pandemic, there used to be the Camarillo factory Outlets. Perhaps CB is located near them. Luckyrabbit and Pea that would make your breakfast and shopping meet handy! Prayers you two get to do that! My CB very vague memory only of going to one is from years ago while visiting my grandma when she lived in Houston. I also remember an elderly church friend, Shirley, sharing how much she and her family enjoyed CB and their gift store over the years. Glad that restaurant is a keeper for a lot of you. I do like its creative name! Awesome printer shopping you did!

Sleep 🛌cozy and stay warm, dear Carol. I still love that your church has a welcome center. Thank you always for volunteering at it. I would love to assist you!

Dad is at the :laundy: followed by Ralph's. I'm going to start sometime today or tomorrow on reading up on voting choices. I shall check back later. Wishing all of you a great Tuesday.

Sitting at the welcome center now. More activity than usual. Just reading here, making quotes so want to respond.

I saw a patient of mine
I used to like talking to some of my interesting patients. A lot of free time while doing reps of exercise or walking.
the concept of things closing down or changing names intrigued them.
We play the game at the mall, when you get to a location that has closed, trying to guess what used to be there.
two Tom Thumbs,
What is a Tom Thumb? I see that they are in the Destin, FL area where we will be but am unfamiliar.

OMG--I just decided to give the printer I spent 2 hours on yesterday, one more shot (while the other one is already out for delivery, lol). I used the HP smart thing (which I tried yesterday),,this time it found the drivers and reloaded them..and the darn thing now works again? Took me all of 5 mintues. How frustrating is that? VERY! I just printed off my grocery list like I normally did. I want to take the new one back tomorrow..Don says keep it, it was a good price and we might need it someday. Geez,,I am glad this one still works, as I am used to it, have never had any issues, and the ink was a good price. I will wait till we have to use the new one and order more inks then. I don't like the sound of that 'instant ink' thing they have now. I don't want to pay a monthly price to get ink when I need it, and all the reviews say once people cancel it, their printers stop working..how can that be?
If it were me, I would send the one you ordered back. Too many variables. The old one could work for years. You might find a great deal somewhere. If you store the new one it might become obsolete before you need it. Or it might go on sale for $20 or $30 on Black Friday. Sorry if I'm assuming but unless I am running a business any printer I buy is going to be a cheap printer.

Last week I actually purchased a laptop at Costco for 1059 tax included. Was very happy with the specs on it. When I went to collect it, the lady eventually said, 'it looks like the display is our last one.'

No thanks. Not taking a thousand $ display item. So, she checked local costco's to see who had new in box in stock and I was gone, with the intention of picking a new one up the next day. By the time I got home, DD had fixed my problem for $6, so no longer needed to replace my laptop.

why do there have to be so many choices? It's like that with everything. I can remember back to when I was a kid, and went to the grocery store with my mother. There were like 2 brand choices for bread, milk, canned goods, etc. Now there are so many choices it boggles my mind.
I am so with you on that! - "The Paradox of Choice" is always in one of the top spots on my recommended books list.

DD showed me recently how to scan using my iPhone and I could hardly believe it! I had a big project to scan and email and for some reason couldn’t use our printer. The iPhone worked beautifully! (Scan in Notes...

I just learned how to use that recently as well. It's awesome!!

:hug:Carol and thank you for making such a difference to so many patients over the years. That's wonderful that more people are stopping by the welcome center. Blessed they are extra to be met there by you.

:hug:Judique, I would definitely not want a display model either, no thanks!

:hug:PollyannaMom, yay that your phone is working well for you! How are your kitties today? 😾

All pretty quiet around here. I started on my ballot earlier. I will also be so glad when this election is over. Hugs to all for a good and warm afternoon.

Just a grocery store. They currently fall under the Albertson umbrella. They are a little more expensive than Kroger.

Here's a picture of the county I live in compared to the others in Texas. You can see why I call it little and about a fourth of it is under water.

Dinner this evening was grilled chicken, potato salad & cornbread - inspired by my husband driving by the fire dept. chicken dinner day at the local fire department but not being able to stop! I think tomorrow evening will be cheese tortellini & meatballs w/ garlic bread and a salad.

Youngest received two job offers late last week, and this afternoon decided on which one would work best for him, he took the one that paid a little less but interested him more, and I think he made the right choice for him. He starts next week, so almost immediately. He'll be moving to the western shore of MD to be closer. I know he's been stir crazy and bored & ready to get back to work after mustering out of the Army, so I hope this position suits him well.

Do you enjoy scary/halloween-themed type TV/movies this time of year?

Well, perhaps I'll indulge in a bit of chocolate peanut butter ice cream to go along with my Halloween Baking Championship show! Have a good evening one & all -
Hello! Yum for dinner!! We had a Mexican dish of Calabasitas (Mexican type of Squash) and Beef simmered in tomatoes to create a tomato sauce and served over beans, then topped with queso fresco, guacamole and sour cream!

QOTD: NO< NO< NO!!!
Funny story on that answer though....My kids wanted to go out to the movies, dinner and a haunted house on their last weekend in town with friends but they needed a parent to sign waivers at the HH and for the movies (oldest is only 17, youngest in the group was 14). After getting permission from all the parents, we took a couple cars everywhere but the movie was HALLOWEEN ENDS!!! I begged the theater to let me see another movie and I could pop in to check them out regularly...but alas no such luck!!! I bought a giant popcorn, slushie and kept my eyes closed for 95% of the previews and around 50% of the movie. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting but at the same time, that was more than enough for me!

CONGRATS TO YOU on getting that printer to work and now you have a backup just in case!!! I never signed up for that instant ink thing, always seemed like a scam to me. In town we have a small computer store that refills inks and you bring your cartridge and they do it for a fairly decent price! I liked that idea.
Just a quick hello and posting a picture snowys mom and I in Disney
Oooo, how fun!!!!

Hello all, shall I say good morning?! Been up since 2 and I have no clue why...but I know that this blue light from my phone is not helping now :rotfl:

We had a busy weekend closing up the summer place for the winter and loading up the RV for our trip and getting on the road. My husband made this mickey lamp for our site at the Fort! This is a pic of it still in progress, I will share the finished product when I get a moment! Snow and insane winds had him bring it indoors to work on!

I've been menu planning for the rest of this week, to try and finish everything in our cabinets and fridge so that I can do one big stock up when we get to the Fort and getting creative with random bits of stuff has been fun! 😂

Anyone here play Wordle? It's a bizarre addiction that can be so frustrating sometimes! Haha

Happy Wednesday everyone, hope it's great!

Awesome Mickey Lamp! I've wanted one since I first saw them at the Fort!

Happy Wednesday everyone! 🍁

Still cold this morning, will warm up to the 70's this weekend. Glad I'm off work this weekend. I'll probably go to my great-niece's high school soccer game. They advanced in the tournament so I'll go cheer her on.⚽

Funny story on that answer though
This was hilarious. I would have sat through the movie the same way 😧. I actually would have left that movie and went to another one (wouldn't have said anything to the workers).

My husband made this mickey lamp for our site at the Fort!
Love the lamp. I did the same thing to my lamp post in the front of my house. I didn't want to drill holes for the ears to sit in so I just glued mine on top of the base (Mickey's head). The light didn't get up to the ears and someone eventually knocked the ears off. I gave up after that but it did look really cute.:earsboy:

Taz & Snowysmom - glad you guys were able to meet up! Looks like you're relaxed and having fun.::MickeyMo

Made stuffed pepper casserole last night. I have a lot left over, I'll be taking a bowl up to my aunt today after work.

Not sure if I'll be going to Evan's soccer game tonight. He's had strep throat since the weekend and took off work Monday & Tuesday. He has amoxicillin to take but he's convinced he's allergic to penicillin so he won't take it. I told him he isn't but when he was in the Army, they told him he was. He has been taking this medicine his entire childhood because he had strep through once a year, never a reaction.🤦‍♀️

That's about it for me today. Have a great day!princess:
