Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning(well i started it this morning...lol Took awhile to finish and post. LoL)...we had a crazy storm blow through last night. Lightening, thunder and heavy rain for about a half hour. It was pretty cool...we were at our friends on their back patio having some drinks watching a movie when it started. We couldn't see much of the lightening so we moved to their garage to watch from a different direction and wow...we got a show.

The weather has been so nice the last few days, our AC is finally getting a break...I love that.

Kirby...look like you guys had a fun week. I love fairs. We've never been to our state fair, its too far in Sacramento, just local county fairs but we missed them this year.

Pea...oh no. I hope you feel better soon. That soups looks really good.

Carol...sounds like a great party. The cousin pic is too cute.

Lynn...Dh is the same way with the TV volume. He'll fall asleep on the couch with it blaring but if I'm laying in bed playing a game on my phone or tablet, he'll get annoyed. I'm like are you serious....you can sleep through explosions at top volume on the TV but my quiet game is bugging you. :sad2:

Mona... I hope you get your mail soon.

Nothing planned for today....we might go to lunch. Dh asked this morning if I wanted to go and he really wants DD to go with us but we'll see she never wants to go out to eat anymore. LoL. I don't think she's been to a restaurant since Covid...she's all about takeout or delivery, she usually pays when she suggests it so it's fine with me. :)

Forgot to share some of my Halloween decorations...I think...hopefully I didn't share these already...haha

On our TV stand, i have a garland with pumpkins and candy corns. I added some purple, green, and orange twinkle lights.

I have some other stuff too but these are my favorites.

Did your Mom do that?)
Yes. When I moved out of the house she made a cookbook for me. Wrote a poem in her own handwriting at the front. It’s a 5x7 binder with family favorites. I also have the one her mother made for her in the late 1940’s, I made one for my brother’s wife when they got married.

The bad news is that I have a rebound case of Covid.
Ahhh, that is too bad. Curious, did you take Paxlovid?

I didn’t know if @tazdev3225 posted a hotel picture or an attraction. The only hotel I could imagine was Wilderness Lodge by the decor.

Lol I think you (and footballmouse) are right, it is Indiana Jones! (I’d asked DD! I initially thought it might be Geyser Point, too.) I misread it to say that was her hotel view and I thought it was the Skyliner through a tele lens or something! :lmao: I have no idea, then, where she is staying, except that it sounds like it’s along the Skyliner.

What a sweet gift from your Mom! :lovestruc You must really treasure that and your grandmother’s! It is a great gift to give. For my wedding shower people brought three favorite family recipes on index cards and my SIL put them together for me. I’ve always treasured that, too.

Well I had my chowder but discovered I have no taste at this point. I can’t believe it. 😕 That did not happen before. I don’t like that as it means the olfactory nerves are affected. Yes, I did take paxlovid, no surprise! My DH did, too, as did my DD previously, and they didn’t get a rebound case. My sib is worried she might.

Good afternoon/early evening friends,

Dad did get the cookies this morning. I just finished dividing them up into bags. Grateful he has gotten to enjoy a couple already. Honestly, I was disappointed in them this time around (I think they are a little under baked). Still tasty and will make a half dozen or so Monday surprises for various friends tomorrow. Cooler afternoon around here.

Carol, I enjoyed worship service this morning. I really do love how the choir raises their voices to Christ while looking at His cross in your Sanctuary. Always enjoy singing along with For the Beauty of the Earth

Yikes, AuntieMe3, that sounds like quite a storm⛈️Barely rained at all here yesterday morning. Stay safe and dry, my friend! I do hope you and your DH got to enjoy a lunch treat this afternoon. Thank you about the mail. Will update tomorrow :)

Continuing extra 🙏to you dear Pea with ❤️

Good morning everyone. Hey, I'm first today, lol. Feels strange to only have a couple of posts to read. @tazdev3225 -beautiful picture, beautiful view..I am so jealous, but glad you are enjoying yourself!

@Pea-n-Me I hope you feel better soon. One of my stepsons had the 'loss of taste' thing when he had it, took him a couple of weeks to get it back.

Cool down starts today. Temps only low 50's, tomorrow and Wednesday only in the 40's, then back to the 70's for the end of the week. Almost all of the leaves have finally fallen off the black walnut, so just the big maple on the other side has to drop theirs. Then I will run the mower over the yard one more time to mulch them all up.

Cable guy coming this afternoon to try and figure out Don's remote and why it won't control the sound. I gave up after 2 days of trying every code in the book, and every suggestion they gave me on the phone. Also have to call Dave the handyman, and remind him he needs to come and put the peephole in and finish the door trim. He has so many jobs going at one time, he tends to forget and need reminders, lol!

Have a great Monday everyone!

Good morning!
Let's see...DH and I went to Town Center (a big shopping mall area) on Saturday to trade in DS's old bike and get DH a new one; we had lunch at M Shack. I liked their fries and queso, and the Asian burger (supposed to have hoisin sauce and spicy coleslaw) was cooked fine, it just didn't have enough flavor. Peanut butter shake was great; but the soda machines were broken and only dispensing sugar free stuff, sadly. DH did get a new bike ordered; it'll be in a week or so. We also ordered pizza on Friday night; I had a calzone and it was amazing. I made a butternut squash farrotto (like risotto, but with farro); it was ok.

I ordered some slap bracelets and some Mochi Squishes to hand out on Halloween, for those who don't want the candy; they'll be in at the end of the week. I ordered the teal pumpkin stickers to put on the bags, that I need to go get to put them in, so the parents know they aren't candy; apparently they are great for fidgeting, but tiny and look like gummy candy. I also bought a teal trick or treat pumpkin, to put outside; we are using two of the t-o-t pumpkins with glowsticks instead of real pumpkins this year; as neither one of us feel up to carving.

Tonight is the Bronco game, so yay! It's supposed to be hot and stormy today, so I'll just do my weekly house cleaning and do some laundry.I'm planning on mowing the lawn tomorrow...our overnight low for Tuesday is supposed to be 39!! I cannot wait, haha! Tonight, Bahn Mi meatballs over coconut ginger rice, with shredded carrots and broccoli.

We mailed in our ballots on Tuesday, and they were marked off as being counted on Friday, @Breezy_Carol .

Hope you're feeling better, @Pea-n-Me !

enjoy your trip @tazdev3225 and @Snowysmom

Love the decorations @AuntieMe3

@Kirby You had a busy week, lol!

@flyingdumbo127 I hope you enjoy your cookies. I think I might make some tomorrow; I have a bag of cinnamon chips in the freezer just begging to be used! Oatmeal cookies (from the Quaker oats container) but with all brown sugar, instead of white, and I add cinnamon chips, skip the raisins (yuck). DH loves them.

@lynxstch My husband doesn't like to watch sports on tv. He'll go see a game, and enjoy it; but hates watchign them on tv. He has to deal with me watching, lol. He bought NFL Sunday Ticket for me, so I can watch all the games on Red Zone (and so I can watch the actual Broncos games in full, when they aren't nationwide); I hop onto the computer and put on my headphones if he wants to watch tv on Sunday, haha.

I'm off to get some work done. Y'all have a good day!

Don (Mr L) mailed his in Monday and got a text on Thursday that it had been counted. I sent mine back the same day I got it, a couple of weeks ago, and received the text 2 days later that mine had been counted. They are fast this time!
Hope you're feeling better, @Pea-n-Me !

Lol! Don (Mr L) asked me yesterday why I was searching on Amazon for headphones. I said I will give you 3 guesses. He claims that he wasn't turning the sound up the other night, but that it kept going up by itself. Yeah, right! If it was on '18" like he says it was, I wouldn't have heard it. I let him watch his games, but I just used my phone with my earbuds and listened to music and play a game. Noone broadcasted either the Patriots or Bucs games yesterday so I had to check scores online. Patriots won, Bucs lost. Tommy needs to go back to New England, lol!
I'm off to get some work done. Y'all have a good day!
You too!

I had a lazy Sunday yesterday, so today needs to be productive. But for the moment I'm sitting on the front porch with a cat in my lap.

She's decided lately that she wants to go out in the morning - but then after a couple of minutes she realizes it's chilly and just wants to cuddle up in my lap. I'm still in the "oh, how cute" phase.

Good morning! I had another rough night with little comfortable sleep. I guess the rebound cases can be worse than the first case, and I’m finding that to be true! Had to take a lot of Motrin, Tylenol and other stuff to deal with this head pain and congestion. Hearing is like I’m under water. Ugh! 🤧 Other than that, not much to report. I’m bored. I’d like to tackle some projects but I don’t have the energy and I can’t really be walking around the house to get things, either. I don’t want anyone else here to get sick again. So this is really a pain! Goal for today is to take a shower. (At least I have my own bathroom and bedroom while sick!) Taste and smell are coming and going. My hair really needed to be cut, I feel like Bozo! Our Uggs came yesterday and they are great. Just waiting for that second pair of Frye boots, and can’t wait. We’ll have to treat the boots before we wear them. One thing I will probably do today is to change over my new debit number to my accounts like Venmo, Amazon, my Apple wallet, etc. Another pain. Will check in later. 🐥

Wow, what a beautiful view out your window, Taz. The castle looks like it is so very close, too, how cool! Have FUN:mickeyjum

:hug:Lynn, and please stay warm and well especially with such crazy back and forth weather. 📺 and their remotes sure do have minds of their own at times, don’t they? Our TV still turns on by itself every so often. At times, the remote does nothing as well, never know. So strange indeed. Prayers it gets resolved and I’m sorry to hear your stepson not only had Covid but also had a tougher time with it.

Very thoughtful of you, dear B&B to get the bracelets. Thank you for doing that. I hope you enjoyed your lunch yesterday, too. Go Broncos 🏈tonight! I didn’t like the cookies this time but am glad dad did. I truly, of course, also hope those who he will be dropping off cookie bags for this morning will find them a treat, too. I just thought Pavilions should have baked them longer. We may be baking our own cookies sometime in November for treats to bring as a thank you to my current dentist and his staff and possibly also for a Sunday before Thanksgiving lunch—a meal served by church ministry to people living in a local park. May your own cookies today turn out warm and tasty, I’m with you on raisings, yuck! Oh and to you and Lynn, thank you both for voting. Maybe dad and I will finally get our own ballots that were due last week today!

:hug:PollyannaMom and be cozy, my friend. Enjoy quiet morning with your feline companion as I know you do. I thank you for the love you give to your kitty crew and of course all in your life as well.

Dear Pea :grouphug: I am so sorry you are being hit so hard by Covid. Thinking of you and sending bigtime healing prayers your way, my friend. Know we all care so much and are from all over, cheering you on to brighter ad healthier days.

Snowysmom, much 🙏 you and your family are also safely at WDW and that Baby Sam is all well! Thinking extra of you my friend!

Dad will shortly be off on a bigger and further away morning trip :car:first to drop everything off at ⛪and then to Burbank for Walmart and Lowes. 🙏all will go smoothly and safely for him and that nothing he buys has to be returned! I suggested he be very cautious on purchasing anything such as clothing for that reason. We can order online from Walmart. He's been to Walmart maybe two other times over the last almost 3 years. Here's hoping he finds good things today. At Lowe's he will be looking into a new microwave cart or some type of wheeled storage to hold it and a refrigerator just to get an idea of what they have and the prices. informed delivery says we are to get 16 pieces of mail today, yikes! Still missing mail from last Tuesday-Friday so should today's mail also come that'll be a mountain of mail, lol. Will update!

Be well and cozy, friends and know always I care about each of you. I shall check in again later. 🌼

Good afternoon.

Jack and I went to our pharmacy and got our flu shots this morning. Then to Cracker Barrel for breakfast as a reward. This afternoon we are going up to his sister's house to take some home health supplies (tub bench, elevated toilet seat, etc) from my vast supply. And to give her some PT pointers on getting around with a walker. Her daughter adjusted it and no one taught her to use so I want to check it is the right height and instruct her. Once a PT, always a PT.

At least it will be a pretty drive.

Quick later morning check in. Dad did drop off everything at church and got to say hi to Glenda as well :) Lowe's had nothing we wanted. He did get Red card credit back at Target on a return and even recycled a very old tablet at Best Buy. Right now, he is at Walmart. Sounds like he has already done some good shopping there. Most grateful.

Extra:hug:Carol and thank you for all the loving care you give to all!

Good afternoon everyone. Been busy this morning, well for me anyway...lol I made some banana chocolate chips muffins. I filled a muffin tray and had some leftover so I added some chopped walnuts and put that in a little 6in cake pan to bake. Smells soo good in here.

DH wanted some ice cream yesterday later afternoon so I went with him to Rite Aid. We ended up taking a little drive down to the little lake in town. We parked and sat on a bench for a little while enjoying the beautiful evening. It wasn't warm but wasn't cold either...soo nice.
20221016_174412.jpg

On the little island there were 2 giant pelicans. We also saw a crane and of course lots of geese and ducks. Then we drove over to Rite Aid and got some ice cream to take home, even bought some sugar cones. Yum. DH wanted to get a cone from the counter but they only had one cashier and she had a long line so I convinced him to just go home and eat the ice cream we were buying. LoL Oh I guess I could share DH is a smoker but last week decided to stop. He's on day 5 of no cigarettes, yesterday was a tough day for him cravings wise(boy was he grumpy) so the ice cream was a little treat for him. LoL Good thoughts he can keep it up are much appreciated. He quit years ago for a few years but had a "friend" that did almost everything he could to influence him to start back up again. Thankfully they aren't friends anymore and we don't hang out with anyone anymore that smokes so that will help.

Such a great gift idea. My friend/former boss made one for her DDs and DIL when they got married.

Well I had my chowder but discovered I have no taste at this point. I can’t believe it
Oh no...and sorry you had such a rough night. Hoping today you turn the corner and start feeling better.

I do hope you and your DH got to enjoy a lunch treat this afternoon.
We did. We went to Olive Garden for late lunch/early dinner and just brought back something for DD. It was really good.

I went to the Halloween Party.
Hope it was a great night. Love the castle pic. Have never been to DW but Im missing DL. Havent been since last year and from recent reports doesnt sound like want to go anytime soon and that makes me sad. :(
Cable guy coming this afternoon to try and figure out Don's remote and why it won't control the sound.
I hope they figure it out. We had that problem for awhile with our old TV and then it just started working...so weird.
I ordered some slap bracelets and some Mochi Squishes to hand out on Halloween, for those who don't want the candy; they'll be in at the end of the week. Sounds like you have the coold house to TrT at. :)
I had a lazy Sunday yesterday, so today needs to be productive. But for the moment I'm sitting on the front porch with a cat in my lap.
Lazy days are good days for me. Hopefully your kitty let's you get something done today. :)

Hope you all have a great rest of your day.

cable guy came early, and got everything working. The issue with the sound, believe it or not, was the brand new remote. It had a bad sound button. He says he sees it everyday. He came in here to check the signal on the router, and says..wow I am replacing that while I am here. That is about 9 years old. Well we have only had it for 2 years, but he said it was remanufactured. He put in a brand new one..the reset all the stuff on the tv for us that needed passwords, fixed both of our phones, and gave us a new remote that works. I came in here to put the printer back onto the new router, but it won't connect. I called Breezeline, and she tried for almost 1/2 hour to get it to work. First problem was it was set to connect to 5G and stuff like printers, ring doorbells, thermostats, will only connect to 2.4. So she reset that. I went back in and tried again to get it to connect wirelessly, and she could see it connecting on her end, and it took forever on my end..and it kept saying cannot connect, driver not available.. well I had downloaded the driver again, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer 3x. It shows me the printer on the desktop, and in control panel,,but when I try to print, it gives me some weird microsoft pdf print thing, which is not what I want. So I plan on throwing it out the window and buying a new one tomorrow. Tired of dealing with it. We got it 3 or 4 years ago on Black Friday at Walmart for $29 so we got our use out of it. And the ink cartridges it takes are getting way too expensive. I want another HP, but I don't want a huge one.
I have been dealing with that since 3, and I have had enough. Mr L hooked his laptop up to the new router,,and it printed fine from his laptop, but won't print from the computer, which makes no sense at all

Dinner is leftovers, and I am really not hungry after getting so frustrated over the printer. I kind of wish the guy had just left the old router and not put in a new one. It does seem to connect to the internet faster, but the other one was fast enough as it was. Oh well,,it is what it is

Have a nice evening

That’s frustrating, Lynn! I hate dealing with all that stuff! :headache: I hope the new printer works.

Beautiful sunset, Auntie! Thanks for sharing! Yay for ice cream! Has your DH tried a nicotine patch? We have a lot of people come in to the hospital who have to quit cold-turkey and they usually take the patch. It seems to help. Good luck to him!

Glad your Dad had a good outing today, Mona.

I could go for a Cracker Barrrel breakfast, Carole, lol. I usually get the egg cooked into the sourdough bread, with the home fries that have cheese on them, and the baked apples. So good.

Leftovers here for supper. Had some more of the butternut squash soup for lunch, with toast. 🐥 DH told me I’m not drinking enough fluids. OK, lol. (I have my hydro flask with me with iced tea in it.)
