Carol (and everyone), did you hear that there is some sort of moon phenomenon tonight? I forget what it’s called, but something that only happens once in a very great while. I just heard about it tonight or I would’ve mentioned it earlier. I think you can see it tonight during the night. Ah, lunar eclipse - I think that’s it.
We saw it earlier this morning- it was pretty cool!

Got my nice evening on the porch… came in and decided some fluff TV was in order due to a pretty god-awful few days of news in our area. I listened Two at most of the day and the last few days and Just when you think you’ve heard about all the terrible things in the world yeah here a few more and you’re just like what in the hell is wrong with people?
Super simple supper tonight just some ground burger browned up and simmered in some pasta sauce offer macaroni noodles with a few pieces of garlic bread and maybe a salad. Husband has a carpet cleaner and he’s downstairs going to town on the basement carpet, I can’t wait to clean our two chairs in the sitting room! They really need it! Doctor appointment in northern Delaware tomorrow after which I will do my holiday liquor store shopping and maybe hit a few other places. Have a good evening everyone!

sounds good..when I was younger, the lady who babysat me used to make that all the time, called it American Goulash. Will have to make it again sometime soon. Its simple, but its satisfying!

Just wanted to pop in and address the above.

Potato chips are big in our house, my husband LOVES them. When his blood pressure issues became such that he had to make some dietary changes he switched to low salt chips, and then to no salt chips. He loves them - and can no longer tell that he is eating unsalted chips and finds 'regular' chips to salty now. Of course, he had to give up the flavored ones for the most part, but it is what he had to do in order to still enjoy his chips.

I have times where I crave them. In the hospital they said to eat Lays Baked Chips. Lots less sodium. Forgot to get a bag on Wednesday, so Summer is picking one up today, so I have them when I want them. I didn't eat any chips at all with my subway, and it kind of lost something in the flavor, lol!

So, two thumbs up for low salt & no salt chips!

Oh I do hope I get home in time to enjoy the beautiful and warm afternoon we are having. It's sunny and in the high 60's. Sounds like perfect porch sitting /sunset watching afternoon.

I will have to look up those stories. Not that I really want to, but I do like to keep up with the news.

DD got her shot ok. We just barely made it in time for her appt, traffic was extra heavy so even though we left early, the ride was hairy. (As it often is in these parts.) So far she feels ok but arm is sore. We met her bf and went out for dinner to the place where we had the GC. Probably won‘t return, it wasn’t a favorite. But it was nice to get out. DD picked up the rest of the tab since we’d taken her to get her shot. I like that. :p

Didn’t see DS too, too much this week even with him being home after his trip, between both our work schedules. We did have a little time last night to sit and he told us details about the trip, which was fun. His gf’s mother bought him a nice gift at WDW for being such a great tour guide. It was a boxed set of H20 products. Very thoughtful! Now I won’t see him until the weekend as he’s staying at his gf’s house till then. He has a test coming up next week that is important, any good thoughts sent his way will be appreciated! :goodvibes

Toto had his second bath in two days today as DH thought he found a flea on him as he was scratching. Well not one flea was seen in the tub, lol. And he was not too happy about another bath! DH kept telling him “if this was the hose or the pool you’d be loving it”! But at least now he is super soft and cuddly, and smells extra good! We’d also run our comforter over to the laundromat as it’s big (king size) just in case there were any fleas, but it needed to be washed anyway! (Lynn, I think your laundry habits might be rubbing off on me! 😱 )

LOL!

It was 59 degrees here tonight even after dark. It’s supposed to get cold out overnight, though. Carol (and everyone), did you hear that there is some sort of moon phenomenon tonight? It was almost 70 yesterday, right now its 35 and our high will be 41. 26 overnite tonite, I am afraid all of our nice weather is gone :(

Have a good night, Quackers. 🐥

Good morning all. I think our furbaby C3PO has a second sense that something is going on. He gets neutered today, and other than the food and water bowls being gone (nothing to eat or drink after midnite), he slept ON me most of the nite. Usually he sleeps next to me, but around 1, I felt him climb up on me, sprawl out, and start purring, and that's where he stayed. I got up this morning to do my pills, BP, o2, etc..and he jumped on the kitchen table and sprawled out next to me just watching me.

Tonite is the night Mr L finally goes back to sleep in our room, sleeping in that power lift recliner since he came home in early August is done. Also having the tv on all nite long is done. I refuse to try and sleep with the bedroom tv on all nite. I usually put it on when I go to bed, and set the timer for 30 min and fall asleep to it, which is fine, but if he wants to stay up and watch all the old shows he watches,,he will be sent back to the living room, lol!

Have a nice morning all,,haven't decided what cleaning I will get into yet!c28ea97649579d05d14dcebd075376d4.jpg

I was up early and looked, but it was too cloudy here.

Good for you! - Your sleep is important too. 😴

I wish I could have seen the moon phenomenon. That is something Chris would have loved. However, we had the clouds and rain here. Today is colder with highs around 46.

Back to the house today for more cleaning. I never cleaned so much in my life. The kids are coming to the house on Sunday to survey what we have done and what we need to do for the next step. I am guessing we will have the dumpster back for more junk. I want to get the dumpster stuff done before the snow comes. I need the driveway clear for the snow plow plus I don't want to worry about snow in the dumpster and having to dig out around the dumpster. It will be enough to have to dig out the minivan. The minivan will be donated once I find a place to live. I only want to have one car once everything is settled. I think it is more difficult for me having to go through all of Chris's saved stuff at the house. I find it adds to the grief and it is making me very sad. I just want it done.

I have mixed feelings about going back to work after Thanksgiving. I do need the salary and medical ins. Plus my boss said they made changes to how things are done with my job and that makes me nervous and angry. If I could just go back and do things that way I did it would not be an issue. But with my brain being like a mashed potato, a big learning curve is not what I should be going back to. Working will take time away from cleaning the house. Although, I may have gotten to the point with cleaning that I have done everything I can do by myself. Now it is time for the 3 of us to work together getting the rest of the stuff out of the house. I hope to work early on Wed so I can go to the house for part of the afternoon. The problem is I have to get on the road back to DS's house before rush hour. I also need to put out the trash on Wed. A neighbor offered to help out but I don't like to ask unless I absolutely have to.

I am looking forward to my sleepover with younger DS's kids. We video chatted the other night and they are happy too. I am getting cupcakes for dessert which they will love.

Have a good day.

I'm glad you have something to look forward to!

And I wouldn't worry about taking help with the trash. Most of the time, people want to do something but don't know what to do, and that's small and easy.

I have been cleaning..went through 2 totes of cross stitch, needlepoint, plastic canvas stuff. Kept a couple of new cross stitch ones designs, put a lot of pattern books in a box for Summers yard sale, tossed a bunch of stuff. Went through the computer desk and cleaned that all out. Mr L just now decided to wake up, but then again he didn't go to sleep until 7 am :(

Vet just called and C3PO is all done, paid for , and Summer can pick him up anytime after 2!

thanks for the eclipse pictures @Pea-n-Me That would have been so neat to see, but we were very cloudy here last nite. The one over the Lackawanna Tower is so pretty!

Good morning.

Carol (and everyone), did you hear that there is some sort of moon phenomenon tonight?
I did read about it. I knew that the peak time was 4:05 am and I really didn't want to set an alarm. But, I woke up at 4:10 to go to the bathroom and could see it perfectly out of the bathroom window. It was very cool. And the stars were so plentiful. I usually don't put on my glasses to go to the bathroom but this time I did. I considered staying up to watch more but sleep won.

Thanks for those pictures. I knew immediately, scrolling through them, that about the 7th one was Baltimore. Having grown up in Baltimore, there is an old joke about if you drive by the Washington Monument on the correct side, the one in the photo, you know why he is called "the father of our country." :rotfl2:

Vet just called and C3PO is all done,
Glad to hear that.

I have a code for a free Shutterfly calendar so need to get that done. All I need is some initiative.

Did a little grocery shopping yesterday, but still have a few things to get. Going to try to get them in the next day or two. I told DH that, after that, I’m not going near the grocery stores until after Thanksgiving. They’re too crazy, already. And I know the closer you get to the holiday, the more things they are out of, like butternut squash (always!). So that’s that. We are making a few things to take with us (roasted root vegetables, buttered string beans with garlic and cranberries, apple sausage stuffing, and a dessert of which we’re not certain yet, maybe a pie), but not doing a whole meal since we’re going somewhere. Normally when that happens, we also have a traditional meal at home later, but DD and I are working Fri, Sat, Sun after the holiday so there’s no point this year. 😬 I also bought some bowtie pasta yesterday and was going to do a meat sauce tonight to have it on hand. We used to call it American Chop Suey (but I’m not a big fan of elbow macaroni, no substance as far as I’m concerned! )

Good morning to all Quackers.

Lynxstch- so glad to hear you are feeling better and seem to be getting back to your usual ambitious self. Just remember to give yourself breaks as needed. :duck:

snowysmom - It sounds like you have accomplished so much in a very difficult situation. I agree with Pollyanna, most people who offer really want to help, they just don't know how or what the best way to help is. Give yourself some grace and take your neighbors up on the offer. Sorry to hear work is going to be stressful when you return.

QOTD: I know cheese is technically in the dairy category, but I often refer to it as it's own special food group. I don't nec. like cheese on everything, but I do love cheese, cheese curds, cheese slices, cheese cubes....YUM!

Pea- I too am going to try and avoid stores after this coming Monday. I usually do curbside pick up for many things, but there are a few things I want to pick out myself for Thanksgiving. I am still not sure of our final plans, but I want to be prepared in case we are home for the day.

The feel of winter is def. in the air. The sun at least is trying to make an appearance today. Kids have 2 days of school next week then are off for break until Monday the following week. Then time will drag and fly at the same time until Christmas break...if that makes sense. I have not even started Christmas shopping. Yikes. Trying to par down this year. I have a semi load of stuff I need to haul out of my house, so trying to not bring too much more in.

Take Care All.

Good Morning 🐥

I like that your DD treated you to dinner, Pea. Prayers her arm feels better today. I’ms orry you haven’t gotten to see much of your son but how it sounds like he had a good trip to WDW :) Poor Toto. Dogs definitely don’t much like baths! These days with the cooler weather it’s harder for me to get out of the warm shower, lol. Wow, thank you for the eclipse pictures!

Easyas, Pea, Carol and anyone else in the area, I hope you all did get to see the eclipse. I have a vague memory of a couple years ago standing in the church parking lot with someone during the day and seeing some type of sky event happening. I don’t recall now what it was just that it was definitely an experience I had never had before.

Hug L and continued prayer to both you and Mr. L. Dad likes flavored chips and also tries to get the low salt kind. I hope you did enjoy your Subway :) Kitty prayers his appointment goes well and I am so rooting for a continued peaceful transition to both of you sleeping in your new bed for both you and Mr. L! I just saw your cat update, that’s good news indeed!

I’m sorry you missed the eclipse, PollyannaMom. I hope the weather clears up to some sun later for you, my friend :) ITA. Sometimes people do feel stuck or awkward with wanting to help but not knowing how or how to ask. Stepping in to a joint effort like getting discard/trash items out seems like a good icebreaker to that while also moving unwanted stuff out, too!

Continued prayers Snowysmom and reminder, one step and day at a time, my friend. Please do let your family help. I truly do admire your encourage and outlook. I do think just getting the major stuff cleared should (I pray) make what comes next less daunting. As for work, keep it in prayer, and I would hope your boss would be supportive of you! Cupcakes sound real good. Have a fun sleepover.

Carol, I’ve never gotten any Shutterfly products other than when Target used Shutterfly as a site for ordering pictures for in store pick up on. I believe our friend, Apirateslifeforme, uses them and has gotten quality photo products. A personalized calendar sounds special and also a good cooler weather project. I hope it turns out well, my friend.

Good to see you, Frog! I hope your kids have a fun break. It makes sense indeed! I remember vaguely now when I was in college for some reason Spring semester seemed to drag on forever after Spring break especially. Fall semester seemed overall to go by quicker. Once a vacation did come, it always was hard to come back same with a longer work vacation.

QOTD, I like cheese in things lol such as grilled cheese and macaroni and cheese. When I did eat pizza, I preferred only cheese and no sauce so that was one food preference of cheese on something. I haven't had parmesan cheese in years but used to like it on spaghetti.

Cooler here today. I miss the warmer weather. Sunday, for one day, it's supposed to be 82. May have to switch to jersey sheets next week. Trying now to find a new warm robe. I know my specifics in for this make the search harder. I am hoping to find a full length robe or duster robe that has long sleeves and is fleecy warm. I would prefer it to have a full zipper so not need to step into it at all but that part is minor. The biggest thing for me and what makes it so hard to find, is that I need it to not have any collar. Just a scoop neck like on a crewneck shirt. I found a couple possible choices last night on Amazon. Problem is they cost $70+! Yikes. I will look more over the weekend and then keep an eye out on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Stay safe and warm, everyone please and have a good Friday. I will check back in this afternoon.

QOTD: I’ve notices that some from the younger generations LOVE lots of cheese on their food. DH and I aren’t big “cheese on our food” people (with the exception of something like Chicken Parmesan). Are you?

Yes. I'm solidly in the "cheese makes everything better" camp. 🧀

Well, except sweets, of course...in which case we refer to the "chocolate makes everything better" version. :rotfl:

Off to the house today for more cleaning. And I also try to soothe my soul by relaxing a bit in my chair in the living room and watching some TV. I wasn't able to do that a few weeks ago without crying. Now I can do it for a bit before I cry. The therapist asked me if I am doing self care and on a scale of 1 to 10, where I am I on self care. I am afraid I am not too good at that. I tell her I Older DS's kids are very chaotic most of the day and at night when it is bedtime it is utter chaos. They usually don't get to sleep until 2 hours after they go upstairs to get ready. They run around screaming and crying. I need quiet evenings and to be able to get rest when I need it. I love them dearly but they are a handful and a half.

Sounds like even if you can not continue to live in the house you shared with your husband that you at least need your own space even if it was a studio apartment for now until you could find something larger.

Good Morning everyone 🌸

Today is Cookie Day here 🍪 I wish my Quacker family were closer so I could share some with you!

There is always mailing the cookies to us, depending of course on what kind they are as some types tend to travel better via the mail. I loved it when I was in college and would get a package that contained sour cream cookies from my Nana.

Is it just me or what?

I get hold of Summer this morning, she says she's at Lowes getting stuff for our floor. I ask what is she getting, and why is she getting it instead of the guy putting in the floor. She says he had to work today, so he asked her to get the molding and the nails. I ask how can she get the molding when she doesn't even know what color to get? She says he told me to get white. I said why on earth would he tell you to get white. The floor is stagecoach hickory, the walls are going to be a light blue with a slightly darker blue trim. White would not match. Then she tells me it's some kind of styrafoam stuff. I said no way. I want wood or laminate molding that matches the floor. We only have a Lowes and an 84 Lumber who carries basically nothing. Lowes only had unfinished oak molding, which would have to be painted or stained. I said no. I get online and look at Home Depot,,they have hickory colored laminate molding, for like $2 more than the cheap styrafoam stuff he told her to get? This isn't boding well for me as far as having someone reliable put this down. She 'thinks' he may start tomorrow..well it would be nice if he called US and told us that? I also let her know,,that anything else that has to be decided on for the floor, needs to be passed through us. I appreciate that she was trying to help, but I would have been more than ticked if she had shown up here with white styrafoam molding!

She should be on her way to pick up C3PO now..and she was stopping at Walmart to exchange the cordless drill I got on Thursday that won't charge. Then she can go home and do something at her house instead of here for a change, lol

I got the Fit Bit Luxe,,it's already here and I have it charging. I hope I like it!

Have a nice rest of the afternoon!
