Good morning.

I never have really sought a pet, they always seem to find us When the time is right. I also never feel like I’m replacing any of them once they have passed and a new one comes to our family. I just feel my love is growing and it’s time to help/love another furry friend.
What a lovely sentiment.

@Snowysmom, what a handsome boy! So many  and I hope the good memories provide some comfort.

@lynxstch, I'm glad to hear that your DH gets some extra time! I remember when my grandfather had a bunch of strokes and was in the hospital for 3 months. There was always talk about discharge, but my mom and grandmother wanted him to stay and get stronger. It was the best place for him to be. And I'm sorry to say that I'm not surprised by the DMV story. Sounds an awful lot like our DMV here. I try to avoid it as much as possible (we go to AAA for our license renewals).

My child is obsessed with getting a dog now. On Sunday, driving around doing our scavenger hunt, one of the clues took us to the animal shelter (that I didn't even know we had). It's sort of an open shelter, the cages look out onto the street, so the dogs could see us. There were 4 of them (I think) and one of them, looked like a chihuahua, was the only one barking at us. Josh has decided that we are getting that one, he thinks it's a girl and he's named her Ester (that's how he spells it). He's set up a little corral for her in his bedroom. We can't get through to him that we have an old cat and he won't be able to handle having a dog in the house - especially a yappy one that's barely the same size as him.

So yesterday we went to the splash park with our friends and it was really fun! We were there for almost 4 hours, when we had to leave for Josh's gymnastics class. It got up to 95 degrees while we were there. I wore my bathing suit under my clothes, so I splashed around for a bit to cool off as well. The kids really seemed to like that at least one mom got in there! The ice cream truck came and all of the kids got something - Josh is still talking about his SpongeBob pop (which Ashleigh, our friend, paid for half because of course I only had $2 on me  ).

But I'm going to relate this story to you all and see what you think. Since I only have a little one, it's easy to just blow it off, but the more I think about it, I might react like this mother did (although not as quickly). When we arrived, Ashleigh had already found a picnic table and had her 3 munchkins (ages 6, 5, and 4) eating their lunches. As I was getting Josh set up, Ashleigh suddenly said, "What's going on?" I looked up - I hadn't heard anything, my hearing isn't very good - and there was a small group of women on the sidewalk between the pavilion and the parking lot, and one of them was looking right at us and screaming, "Would someone help this mother find her daughter?" Well, we had 4 kids between us, so Ashleigh told her kids to stay with me and she went over to find out what was going on. All I heard was "little girl with white shirt, black leggings, has the little boy with her" (the other woman was still glaring at me...what did she want me to do, one of us had to stay with our kids :confused3 ). So Ashleigh started walking around the park area, I was looking hard around the kids in the water area that were all being grabbed by their parents now, the mother was flipping out - screaming, crying, throwing herself on the ground, etc. I had tears in my eyes and my heart was pounding, because this is every parent's nightmare, right? After only a minute or two, I see Ashleigh coming back from the open field area in the back, and slowly sauntering near her is a girl wearing a white shirt, black leggings, holding a little boy - and the girl is taller than Ashleigh. She wasn't a little girl - she was 17. She'd only been gone a few minutes, as in, maybe she had gone to the bathroom and neglected to tell her mother. Ashleigh said that she told the girl that her mother was freaking out, and her response was, *shrug* "Yeah, I heard her." Not a single person thanked Ashleigh for going out to look for her; the mother just hustled her into the car and they left. Someone else called the police to call them off (because they'd been called about a missing child). Now, I'm not trying to be heartless, because even when Josh gets to 17, I'm probably going to worry about where he is. But Ashleigh said that she wouldn't flip out this badly if their 17-year-old foster daughter didn't answer for a few minutes. She'd check the bathrooms, try calling her phone...but on the other hand, her daughter is very responsible and even if she walked away with one of the younger kids without saying anything, she'd return very quickly or give them a quick call or text if it was going to be a while.

I guess I'm not so much upset about the mother's fear, but it was more that here was this random lady (she wasn't with them) who was yelling at US to help - both Ashleigh and DH said, "Why didn't she help instead of yelling at people?" - and literally everyone was led to believe that a little child had gone missing, based on the way other parents were calling their children to come to them. You could see the fear in on their faces. And the police were called. I don't know...it was just weird and unsettling.

@apirateslifeforme--I think it was weird and unsettling also. Why would the mother say it was a little girl, when it was a teenager (unless that teenager had 'issues')? You all thought it was a missing child,,they way the mother was screaming you would think you were looking for someone who had abducted the little girl and the boy. I am assuming the mother was so upset, she never thought to thank Ashleigh, but in the end, all was okay, so that's the important thing. But that must have scared all of the other kids there, they had no clue what was going on :(

@apirateslifeforme, that is a little odd. A 17 year old can drive and hold a job, not sure why the mom was so hysterical.
I am assuming the mother was so upset, she never thought to thank Ashleigh, but in the end, all was okay, so that's the important thing.
Probably. I found a child once, walking down the street in our neighborhood. About 3 years old. We live on a court off a road where folk drive too fast. I had never seen her before and she was just walking by herself. I walked her down the court to see if she had been visiting somewhere and no one knew her. Came home and called the police. We sat outside on the front step and I was not going to take her inside the house. Before the police came, a family from the other side of the fast road, maybe a half mile away, came by to claim her. I didn't want to give her up without being sure but the police had not come yet. They never said thank you or anything either.

Honestly, I think some people just thrive on drama. I wouldn't let it affect you or waste your time over thinking it....I can guarantee you they aren't.

Good morning everyone -
I made the mistake of going out to the shop to ask one of the guys something...dang it's nice outside. I'm tired of canned air. AC on in the house, AC on in the office, AC on in the car. Sure - AC has it's good points, but it is always around this time every year that I realize I've not been enjoying enough fresh air!
So I was bad - I share a suite of offices that are located upstairs in our office building, no one else is in up here today. Turned off the AC, opened my window. It tends to make it quite close up here, but I'm going to give myself a hour or so of it!
Roasted all of the cherry tomatoes ripe from garden last night and had with sautéed chicken. Cooked down a huge amount of tomatoes and peppers that I freeze to use - basically stewed tomatoes & peppers - I will cover pork. venison, beef, fish or chicken with it in the crock pot and cook all day a few times over the winter months. Flavors really permeate the meat.

Ordered some soft shells from my seafood gal, haven't had them in a while. Only ordered 4, but later in the season I'll order some for the freezer. Might take some down to my folks in Sept.

Arranged to have 2 cords of firewood delivered Friday morning. That ought to get us started and thru a fair bit of the cold weather months.

This weekend youngest is bringing his girlfriend over for first time, they'll arrive Saturday and stay till next day. I was hoping to sneak off to see the Jungle Cruise movie but we will see - it seems like just the fluff swashbuckling type movie that is fun to see every once in a while.

I need to go to M&T Bank and empty a few accounts, they have not had bank-to-bank transfers available to account holders since January, and it's a bit of a giant pain in the butt to have to go to the nearest one, which is a good 30 minutes away, in order to withdrawal $$$ to put into another account. They keep saying 'they are working on it' - well how long do they need to work on it?????? 8 months?

You and your friend are so talented, AuntieMe3! The centerpieces are beautiful! I especially was drawn to the welcome table arrangement—so pretty! Hugs, I’m very happy to hear you enjoyed a fun birthday celebration, my friend.
Gorgeous sunset, Snappy! I also really like that the picture shows parts of the white and red trees. Yikes, sorry about all the printer related hassle!

Big hug, Frog. Thank you for having such a kind heart that extends to God’s animals. I love how you said about knowing when it’s time to extend love to another pet. I am praying one day that will ease my heart and make it easier/happier to welcome a new dog into my home. I’ll know from Heaven Champ approves and is smiling. I pray your church’s new minister works out! I have briefly shared about the minister search/trials of my current church. If you ever want a friendly ear to chat about new minister transitions, PM me.

I sure hope you sleep better tonight, Lynn! What a colorful and bright Mickey picture :) DMV story sounds like red tape hassle! :(

Hug, Apirateslifeforme. An older cat (or dog) probably would not do well with a new pet, especially a younger animal. I would never want a yappy dog in general. Perhaps when Josh is a little older you will be able to adopt a dog that he can somehow help choose at a shelter or rescue. I wonder if there such thing as a family class of some sort for choosing the right dog for your home? If such a program existed it just might in your often community friendly sounding small town :) How scarily weird! Something indeed sounds very off! ITA with what Lynn said. Those poor young kids watching all this unfold. I’m just so grateful, so very thankful, the little girl who was missing was safe!

Thank you, Carol, for taking care of that child and in a great, safe way!

Easyas, AC is definitely not the same as being able to be outside in fresh, more living air. I hear you there. Hug. Sounds like the DMV! Seriously sometimes customer service can feel like it is only providing run-around! :P

Hugs to all of you for a wonderful Wednesday!

I am home,,its 90 out,,clouds on and off, but no rain. Good thing the cable guy is coming this afternoon. I walked in and went to turn the tv on to watch General Hospital before he gets here..and the Tivo box was flashing orange, green , and red lights..and I got that 'tivo has detected a serious problem, blah blah blah". I am not waiting 3 hours for it to fix itself as he will be here between now and 4:30. There is something seriously wrong and he better plan on putting in a brand new box, and a new tivo mini in the bedroom, for what we pay every month, I am not putting up with faulty equiptment.

Hubby made more progress today. We finally got the orthopedic Dr to clarify his notes..hubby can use that arm to walk as much as he can tolerate it..he just can't lift more than 10 lbs with it. The PT guy put the extension bar on hubbys walker and it fits fine, so he isn't going to use their huge one anymnore. Social worker is working on seeing if medicare will get him a wheelchair (I don't think it's necessary, but it would be nice to have jus in case), and a support bar for his walker. We could buy one on Amazon, but the PT guy said don't spend money you don't have to if Medicare or Aetna will pay for it. Hubby did do 1 30 foot walk just using his walker with no support bar and using that arm,,and he said it wasn't overly painful. So baby steps, but steps none the less!

Afternoon everyone. @lynxstch Woot to your DH for working so hard to improve!

Re: child lost...when DD#2 was about 2 1/2, I had put her down for her nap, and once she was asleep, I laid down as well. (I worked nights, and didn't get home until about 2am some nights, and she was always up by 7am.) she usually slept 2-1/2 hours, but never less than 2. Well, the little darling got up about an hour later, and instead of waking her tired mommy, decided to unlock the door; bring her stool over to reach the chain and undo it; and go toddling off to find her aunt (who lived in the same apt building, down one floor and on the opposite end. She was gone maybe 15 minutes when I woke up. I tore down to my sister, and she hadn't seen DD, so her kids (2 teens, 1 preteen), sister, and me all took off looking for her. Found her with a gentleman and his son at the other building behind us (same complex, just 2 buildings back to back with an alley between them), carrying her and looking for her family. I was in hysterics; I grabbed her so fast and I think I incoherently thanked the guy before just bawling my eyes out. She was crying too; my sister talked to the person, and he sent his son to tell his other kid, who was on the home phone with the police, that they found the family. (this was well before cell phones, lol...pagers weren't even a thing!) She thanked him a lot; but I truely can't remember if I did or not.

That wasn't the last disappearing act she pulled; she did it twice when she was 6 and at least once as a teenager. That child is the reason I have gray hairs.
------------------------------------------------------

A few days ago, I branched out and made Shakshuka for dinner. (Tomato based sauce that you poach eggs in) The sauce came out really well; but I overcooked the eggs...it was more hard boiled egg in tomato sauce instead of poached. LOL I had leftover sauce, so last night, I added some Italian sausage and made pasta with it. So good! Tonight, I'm just roasting veggies (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, leftovers from doing fondue the night before shakshuka), making zucchini fritters, and Mexican street corn, for dinner. Cleaning out the fridge a little bit, lol. Well, my plans were changed. DH said "let's order dinner" and who am I to argue, LOL! So, Chili's it is!

I bought DH some shirts, that I refuse to be seen with him in. LOL This one, this one, this one (which isn't that bad), and this one. He thinks they are great, and they are good quality. They run small; DH is usually a 3XL or 3XLT because he has a long torso and arms, and big shoulders (he can wear a XL undershirt, but they are very form fitting, lol), and the 3XL fit, but they are tight across the shoulders if he stretches his arms at all, and they hit about 2" too short for his liking; so he went with 4XL. He'll wear them on Fridays, for 'Hawaiian shirt' day. :sad2:

DGS#3 had a big week. He turned 5, had a party at a bounce place; went to his first baseball game; had to get his 5 year old check up and shots; and fractured a growth plate in his foot. DD#1 is getting very round (lol, she would kill me if I said that around her); she's due in just under 2 months, but looks like she's further along.

I haven't been walking since I fell. The pain finally stopped, then we had 2 days of severe weather; and today, I was going to walk after putting the first load in the dryer. Found a very wet lint trap and some water in the drum and on the door. Turns out, with the very cold air in the apartment, and the very hot moist air outside the apartment, condensation builds up in the dryer if I leave the door closed. (I cleaned the vent and hose, they had a small amount of wet lint in them but not much, so it wasn't clogged; and after I ran the dryer and let it cool, I ran the test from the manufacturer, and it came back with no codes, so no damage.) So, lesson learned...leave the dryer door open.

That's all that's going on in my little world. Hope everyone has a good Wednesday!

More in the continuing dress saga. I am sure everyone will be glad when this is over. I went to Boscov's and bought another contender for the rehearsal dinner. It is a style I have already in a totally different fabric and it fits well. I got the last one I ordered from Macy's by UPS today but haven't tried it on yet. I am done buying, now just a matter of returning.

I assume you mean crabs, but does everyone know that? I have trouble getting over the legs hanging out of a sandwich but they can be tasty.

I would like to see that too.

Consider what type you want. Do you want one he propels himself (large rear wheels) which can be heavy to lift into a car, or a transport wheelchair (small rear wheels) that someone else pushes but is much lighter to lift. Just something to think about.

:tigger:to your DH, Lynn, proud of him and the progress he continues to make from afar! Absolutely always check to see if a needed medical device is covered before purchasing it on your own. I hope the Cable guy has fixed the TV trouble for you, my friend. I sure remember how not fun that was here earlier in the year.

Wow, big hug, B&B! That is such a scary lost child story! Thank God for the gentleman and his son! I am so sorry to hear you are still experiencing walking trouble after your fall. Praying for you indeed!

Chickapin parterre, good to see you. i hope you do get to enjoy a fun movie sometime soon.

Hug, Carol fancier clothing shopping really is no fun. You'll find the right dress :)

Quiet Wednesday here which is just fine! :)

AuntieMe the flowers were very pretty. I have absolutely no hand in that type of thing but appreciate the effort and the result.

Lynxstch glad there is some progress with your husband. I had a wheelchair for my husband and he refused to use it. He won't use the walker either, just a cane. It can be scary sometimes.

I have a couple of lost child stories. My nephew was good for getting "lost" when my brother was stationed in Germany. It was the start of the first Gulf War and he could not be found. They had the MP's, neighbors, everyone looking. They never checked their housing well because he was found sound asleep under my brother's desk in his office.

My one grandson got out while my son took a shower. He somehow figured out how to unlatch the door, went down a flight of steps and across a semi busy street to the playground. His mother came flying home. My husband came flying home and got side swiped. The person was very nice about it as my husband may have been at fault but there was just a small scrape. The police were called. I kept my head and normally I am the one to go insane. He was found safe and sound clad in just a diaper at the playground.

I think my daughter was the best at getting lost. We lost her EVERYWHERE!!! Most of the time we found her in minutes but twice I had major panic attacks, nothing like that woman though. Once a neighbor's daughter took her in their house to play and I was getting ready to call the police when she finally came back out. That was only about 10 minutes. The major incident was at Sesame Place. It's a very large amusement type park for children if you've never heard of it. We were there with a group from church. I had my 5 year old son, 2 1/2 year daughter and 4 month old daughter. My SIL was there with my niece and she was very pregnant being due in a month or two. Everyone went their own way pretty much but my SIL and I hung together with the kids. I took my eyes off my daughter long enough to check on my son and she was gone. This was 35 years ago and I can still describe what she was wearing all the way down to the vest for the leash she was usually on because she was such an escape artist. My SIL kept my son and my baby and I began to frantically look for her. It was very crowded and a huge draw from several states. I went to where they keep lost children and no Jennifer. I asked if they could make an announcement for my party to meet up so we could spread out. They don't do that. It was suggested I go up on Big Bird's Catwalk to see if I could spot her. I looked at the woman and said "If I do, should I jump down the 8 feet to the ground?" I debated calling my husband and had 2 trains of thought. If I call him he will race up and get in an accident and be killed. If I don't call him we will find her molested and dead in the men's room and he will never forgive me.He worked in the prisons at the time and told me about some of the people he came across. Gradually we spread the word to our group as we ran into each other and after about 30-45 minutes or so there was a lost child announcement. Basically if you lost a child come and see if it is yours. Thankfully it was my daughter. I broke down in tears from all the stress and she just looked at me like I was crazy. She wasn't scared because she knew I would find her. She was in the one place I would never have thought to look - the Count's Water Maze. She HATED getting wet. She got her payback, that Mother's curse does work, because we lost her Mikey all of the time.

I managed to get everything done today. I did break my toe and the blister on my foot is infected so I am in flip flops and on antibiotics til I go back in 2 weeks. The doctor also said to stay off of the beach. I will use the water/sand proof bandages for that. I am NOT missing my walks on the beach and its in 10 days so I should be on the way to healing by then.

Tomorrow is food distribution at church, that should be fun not wearing shoes and carrying the boxes. Afterwards I have to return something I got Anthony, it was defective, and since I will be in the general area of the Camera Shop I get my gear from a I am popping in to look for a new camera body. It's been at least 3 or 4 years since I bought a new camera. I'm going out to dinner with a friend tomorrow night. She and her significant other bought a condo in Ocean City NJ so they have been down there a lot. It will be nice to catch up.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Thanks Carol..we already went over that. I don't want something that I can't lift or fit into our car,,as we have a smallish hatchback. I would rather have to push him in it than deal with a bigger, heavier one.

Thanks Mona..all is well now..it took almost 2 1/2 hours,,but we have all new equiptment, and a working cable system again. He said our box was 'bricked'..which means everything inside is all locked up. He's surprised it came back on Sunday after all. When he got here,,all we had were 3 flashing lights. When he called, he asked what the issue was..I said 'I need a new tivo box,,I have the screen of death on ours '..he laughed like crazy. We have had him before when we had a dvr and had issues with the cable box in the bedroom, so he's worked for them for a long time. He had 2 used and 2 brand new boxes on his truck..he brought in a brand new one. I asked about the issues with the tivo mini in the bedroom, so he went out and got a new one of those out of his truck too. And he went in the cellar and replaced the 3 way splitter that the last guy had put in..said they don't use that kind anymore. Then it took forever for the box to load up. I told him to have a seat..gave him a can of coke..and we just chatted while we waited for it to boot up. He checked everything to make sure it recorded, deleted, scheduled etc..and now I am a happy camper with working cable system now. Now all I have to do is set our shows to record again..and find out which season finales we can catch on demand or on the computer.

It got really cloudy and dark and windy..thought we were going to luck out and get a storm with some rain,,but it blew away as fast as it came..and not a drop of rain :( Guess that means watering after dinner again..oh well..

Off to find something for dinner...

Oh..and hubby called..and said after using that arm some during PT on the walker..it actually feels better and doesn't hurt as much..HURRAY!

Afternoon everyone. @lynxstch Woot to your DH for working so hard to improve!

Thanks..I am super proud of what he's doing and how far he's come!

We have a new minister at our church, and this week was his 3rd week. I am struggling a bit with him. I know 3 weeks is hardly enough time to even give him a chance, but I left the service this week feeling very conflicted.
We got a new minister about five years ago. I grew up in a church where the congregation voted for the minister so it was new to me when the elders of the church announced one Sunday that we were getting a new minister. A lot of people (mostly older) in church had a hard time getting used to his preaching style but now they like him. Hopefully that will be the same for you.

:sad2:
They look like fun to wear and are good conversation starters for sure!

Have you found one for the wedding? Have I missed something? Would love to see both dresses!

Today went much better with working printers. Yay!

Took my car to the car wash and had them clean it inside and out. It drives so much better now
:rotfl2: or at least it feels that way.

Did a load of laundry and it feels like not much else got accomplished. Oh yeah, payroll did get done. That's very important.

I believe it got up to 100 today. The last two days the clouds have built up and blew past us. We'd love some rain but not today.

Dinner tonight is spaghetti pie and salad.
