Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Guess what came in the mail today? ALL of my husband's meds. Seriously! Some of the were still being processed according to the website. I'm not complaining, today anyway.

The trip to my cousin's was fun and she is glad I broke down on the hearing aids. She took a big cookie tray to my cousin. I asked where mine were since she knows my kitchen is a wreck. When we got back she sent me home with my own tray of cookies. I was happy. Now do I want to share with the hubby??? I'll be nice and let him have one or two.

That's wonderful, TazDev! I hope both you and your DH enjoy the cookies! :)

Started to watch Cross Country Christmas. Will share more when I've finished it. I also recorded Christmas Wonderland.

HM&M has advertised that Christmas Eve-Christmas Day will be commercial free movies! That will make them more enjoyable to watch after first having recorded! :)

We didn't get to see the Christmas Star. It was too cloudy here. The picture is beautiful.

I am trying to catch with what everyone is doing. It has been a few days. It has been busy here with getting ready for Christmas. Today I baked sugar cookies and dairy free chocolate oatmeal cookies. Tomorrow will be a chocolate cream pie and blueberry cobbler. Thursday will be another chocolate cream pie as I am giving each DS one. Plus I will make a quiche for DH and I for Christmas. DH will be decorating the tree tomorrow morning mostly by himself. It is my last work day before Christmas and I have to go in for at least the morning. Tonight is a good night to watch at least part of a Hallmark movie.

My department at work had a virtual Christmas party last night. It was nice to see people I haven't seen since March. Only a few of us get to the office now. We chatted, everyone had their favorite beverage, and we played games. It was a nice time.

Time to relax and chill out before sleep. Have a nice night everyone.

It was a beautiful day, sunny and in the 70's this afternoon. I looked for the star this evening but it was cloudy. We had a gorgeous sunset though.

DD and I took quite a bit of stuff to Helping Hands, our local thrift store. There was a line of cars, everyone must be going through their things getting ready for new Christmas presents.

This evening DD and I took Lou Lou to see Christmas lights. There is a neighborhood where every house on one of the Courts does Christmas up big especially the one in the center. Thought I would share a couple of a pictures with you.

Good morning everyone. Well, this is going to be crazy Christmas weather. Starting tomorrow, we will have 1-2" of rain, with flash flood watch/warning until 10 pm Friday nite,,temps near 50 tomorrow..then 21 on Friday? All that rain will freeze and make skating rinks outside. Hubby wants to run down to the discount grocery store over the PA line, and then we are staying put till Saturday. Those cookies have to get done today or we may as well forget it, but he has no get up and go to do anything ,, he really is taking the 'I am retired, I don't have to do anything' way too seriously, lol!
Have a great morning all,,will be back to read everyone's posts later. Going back to sleep for an hour.

Same grievance I've had for 2 weeks..pkg going to FL left MD on 12/9 still hasn't gotten to FL...pkg mailed to me from MI on Dec 8, still hasn't gotten to MD. Giving up hope on those quickly. First was a gift to my best friend..second was a gift to me from hubby (that I chose, lol)

Called our local post office and talked to delivery supervisor. On her end she can see that the pkg going to FL has made 3 stops since it left Lincithium Heights MD..but doesn't tell her where. She said at least it's on the move and may still be delivered today or tomorrow. Nothing in tracking on the one coming from an ebay seller to me..her tracking says the same thing mine does..left MI on Dec 8--oh well..I can always order another one of those after Christmas.

I did laundry, cooked and peeled eggs for devilled eggs for our Christmas Eve buffet for 2. Cooked and peeled the shrimp too,,so all those things could go into the trash before it gets picked up. Off to the discount store, and then home, before the pouring rain and what might be high winds moves in. At least they have upped our temp to 30 for Friday instead of 21, lol!

Hubby just got a call from work, telling him that they miss him, and let him know that one of the consumers in one of the houses he was Manager for, passed away yesterday. That was very sad to hear., but not totally unexpected as they had to put him in a nursing home a couple of months ago. :(

Happy Festivus!

Let the airing of grievances begin.
It's also Hubs birthday. So we will have double celebration 😂

We have a winter storm warning today. Expecting blowing snow, winds 40+ mph. We are home, of course. Today was to be infusion day, but they were only able to change it to...Fri. So, we will make it work.
I cooked, boned and froze the turkey already, so pulling together our Christmas dinner should be easy. I'll bake a pumpkin pie tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a nice day! 🎄🎅

🐥🐤🐣

Just caught up on all the posts since last week! Took me two days! Phew! It’s been very busy here, sorry MIA.

Someone else mentioned good and bad news, and I have some, too. I mentioned my husband’s father started hospice a couple of weeks ago. He has passed away. Things got a little rough toward the end but he was made comfortable. Everyone came together to help, which was nice. (So we’ve lost two parents in the year 2020, with two Christmases dealing with hospice, seeing that it’s Festivus.) Good news is we were able to get in a nice dinner for DS‘s college graduation, and it was a special night. So we’re glad that college is behind us now. I am just waiting for one thing I ordered for him which he will be surprised about. I had a plaque made to commemorate his athletic days since he never had a Senior Day due to Covid (and lost most of his senior playing season as well). They said it would be ready before Christmas so hopefully I can pick it up either today or tomorrow. I did make a video for him, as well, which I had done for DD back in May, too, since no graduation ceremonies were held, and he loved it. I just put together a variety of pictures of the past four years and set them to music. I did use the song I posted, as well as some others which were meaningful. I rushed to get it finished for that night but may tweak it a bit once the holiday rush was over. Both of my kids loved these a lot.

We had some issues with packages being delivered, too, but both finally came yesterday after being held up by the storm, the tracking said. Who knows. I’d managed to get cards sent out somehow, and did all of my wrapping yesterday. I wish I was one of those people who enjoy it more, but it always seems rushed with working and all that, but I had taken a vacation day to help and it does. Yesterday we drove DD in to work to get her vaccine since we were off, and stopped in a great little place for breakfast, which was really nicely decorated and had beautiful Christmas music playing, so it somehow felt very festive. Maybe we don’t get out enough, lol. So she is vaccinated, anyway. On the way home we stopped in an old “5 and 10” - remember those? DH said I’m the only person he knows who can drop $150 in a store like that, but there are so many housewares and such that you really don’t see around anymore, especially at low prices, so I stocked up. I also made an impulse purchase of a small pre-lit Christmas tree they had there, and it was quite the sensation when we got it home! It’s got flashing neon lights and so does our fireplace in our sunroom, so together they’re a little funky but we all like it a lot, and it’s sort of a running joke now! Hey, why not? As someone else mentioned, Christmas spending was lower this year than most, although I did manage to put together some small gift bags for everyone in our family and get them to them, which was sort of a miracle in itself!

We also attempted to see the Star but it was too cloudy out, unfortunately. Thanks for posting that picture, it was beautiful to see! Glad to hear what everyone is up to here! Glad meds came, and people are feeling better, etc. It is sad to think that they’re predicting an increase in Covid cases after the holiday again. Ugh. We’ll be celebrating with our kids on Christmas Eve, but planning a quiet holiday for Christmas at home with just the two of us, which we’re actually looking forward to, with our only plans being bringing a holiday meal to an elderly neighbor. I had brought her a holiday greens plant a few weeks ago and so glad I did because the person who helps her never got her holiday decorations down for her this year, so that was all she had out. We stopped by the other night to bring her some things she needed and DH got her TV working again, it had been non-functional for weeks. You would’ve thought she hit the lottery. That made me happy this year just to be able to do some little things that had big meaning for someone in need. We did miss getting presents in to the Christmas drive, which was the first year that’s happened, but we’ll make a donation to the food pantry instead, which may be more important this year, anyway. People have been very generous with gifts for children the past several years.

Enjoy these last hours leading up to the holiday, friends! Counting my blessings, you all are one of them this year.
Love to all. ❤

I've been planning ahead on some birthday and other postcards to send next week (to those I was not able to send a Christmas card too) and for most of January. As an FYI starting, Monday 1-25 postcard stamps go up by a penny to 36 cents. I had half a sheet or so of the current 35 cent stamps. I will mail some next week when Dad goes to the PO anyway and some a few days before the rate increase.

Why am I sharing all this postcard news with all of you? I just put stamps on two remaining postcards they are scenes of LA and SoCal. I would love to send them to two of you lovely friends. Please PM me your mailing information by the weekend. They will most likely be sent on Monday. Of course, always, you have my word that your information will absolutely not be shared with anyone! Just would bring me extra Christmas cheer to send some happy mail to 2 of you :)

DH and I tested again Monday because he had a cold on the weekend and we wanted to be safe before Christmas. Both tests came back negative again.

@Pea-n-Me , You've had a rough 2020. Sorry for the loss of your FIL but glad he is at peace.

And kudos for helping your neighbor. That is what Christmas is about. Also glad your DD got her vaccine.

Just finished making my take on shrimp creole for the 2 of us tomorrow. And ordered crab cakes and salad to pick up tomorrow to have on Christmas.

Last night was my last Advent study Zoom. Tonight we have one with old friends. We usually get together at Christmas for the Baltimore Symphony Pops concert and dinner. Thing folk date back to my high school days. I known them over 50 years. Crap, I am old.
