Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Just back from the vets, where I thought my poor cat could stop being 'Mr Conehead' today, bue she asked me to leave it on 2 more days to make sure the little hole from the canula is healed up. Poor guy, he looks miserable,,by the time it comes off on Sunday, it will be 2 days shy of a whole month!

Question of the day answer---Main Street French Toast would be my first pick. I have the recipe for it and make it on special days, as we love it! I am not a pancake or waffle person. Hostess/Host, I would say either Goofy or Pooh! Good question @flyingdumbo127 --thanks!

:) to all of your replies so far, thank you. I apologize for not originally sharing that as far as I know the usual Minnie's Breakfast characters and the only ones I have seen there the few times I have gone, are indeed Minnie (who you get a picture with before going into eat which I think makes it more fun), Pooh, Tigger, Max (Goofy's Son, I never knew him until reading on here who he was lol), Fairy Godmother, and I've heard that sometimes Hook and someone named Rafiki? have been seen at Minnie's, too). What makes it fun is that I have read on the DL part of this board that sometimes you get a surprise visitor such as a penguin from Mary Poppins. I would love a penguin picture lol. You know? Maybe Pluto has been there, too, don't remember. Another reason we need to do this! pluto:

PollyannaMom, the Mickey waffles are tasty and cute to look at as well. I'm not much of a waffle person otherwise because they tend to be too chewy for me so it's an extra treat to enjoy the Mickey ones.

Easyas123, pre plague, I used to go to IHOP at least a couple times a month. I do miss their pancakes for sure! I have yet to find a home recipe or mix that tastes as good. I've tried several mixes where (hope this makes sense) I think the pancakes end up being too thin possibly and so the syrup ends up soaking into them more deeply and that upsets my system. I have had similar experiences with pizza crust that has been loaded down with too much cheese or even too thin a sandwich bread.

Real French toast is one of the breakfast foods I have never liked. I used to love many years ago back in the 80's and 90's the French Toast dips at Carl's, Jr that came with powder sugar. I tried a version of this one at Galactic Grill (I think that is the name now) at DL and was very disappointed.

I hope you get to enjoy either some tasty 🥞 or French toast soon :)

Pea-n-Me, Minnie is always upbeat! Her house in Toontown is a lot of fun to explore. When you are through checking it out, the exit leads into her pretty back garden where you get to take a picture with her. Pretty and peaceful setting.

Hugs, Lynxstch, I am sorry your cat is in distress :( Prayers he feels better soon!
Goofy :goofy:may have been the last character I met during my last DL trip in May, 2019. I will always remember (I did email in a compliment to Disneyland Guest services) how much fun he was. I had a candy cane shaped pen from the Candy Cane Inn where I was staying that I handed Goofy to sign a postcard for me. He looked at the candy pen and pretended to take a bit out of it! Good memory. Related to Goofy, is one day post plague, I will have to give the Goofy's breakfast another try. It was fun to meet Chef Goofy and then on the walk to DL afterwards you pass by a Goofy plate and silverware that is a picture spot. I just remember being a bit disappointed in the overall atmosphere that day because to me it felt like it could have been any buffet restaurant that just had characters. Minnie's at Plaza Inn maybe because it is inside DL, felt a whole lot more immersive. Also, I am a simpler eater and the food choices at Minnie's (at that time) were more to more liking. I'll definitely give Goofy's another try. Something for sure to look forward, too.

A fun Friday QOTD to bring a smile now and in thinking about the future, what do you most look forward to enjoying eating at our Minnie's Breakfast? ::MinnieMoWhat character at the breakfast would be most fun for you to meet?

Have never done this, but if we're going to talk breakfast food, there's a restaurant near me that is doing a to-go brunch box every Sunday now and I desperately want one.

I'm trying to think of the last time I did a character meal, kids were little - maybe 7 & 5...I THINK it was Crystal Palace in the MK @ WDW - breakfast. I'm guessing that was probably 15-17 years ago?!!??!?!?! Admittedly, character meals aren't our thing...we prefer to people watch and make note of the "characters" we see going by :hyper2:

I have a appt w/ the dermatologist later this afternoon, so I'm skipping out of the office early. I need to pop into the grocery and the liquor store on my way home, then I think I'm in the for the weekend. Sunday the kids, and my BIL & SIL are coming over for our traditional, belated fathers day meal of crabs and odds & ends.

Whats everyone got on tap for the 4th of July? We used to have a huge blow out at my folks every year- but times change, little kids grow up and folks start doing their own thing, and that's okay. But I do remember those years fondly. We don't anticipate doing much of anything different, just enjoying a 3 day weekend I guess. Our boys will be out on the river or bay I'm sure - but we are past finding fighting the various chicken-neckers a enjoyable prospect. Even though it's been a weird few months and we've been home A LOT, I am still looking forward to a quite long weekend at home with no expectations of my time besides tending the garden and mowing. Perhaps I'll treat myself to a new book or two ;)

Happy Friday to all!

It's hazy, humid, big hair day here in Indiana. We bought Matt's new car yesterday at Subaru. He now has a Cross Trek to go with my Outback. I commend them for how well they were taking precautions in mask wearing and office sanitizing and having clean and "used" pens and baskets. I don't mind they negations for car buying but I just hate how long the whole process takes. I don't have the time or patience or it. My last car, I walked in at the end of the day and said if you'll take this amount, I'll have the check ready tomorrow at 5:00 and you have the paperwork ready. I left them my information and they called ready for me to sign everything.

@flyingdumbo127 I have an android phone. I have a samsung A20 bought in October. It's basic smart phone that cost in the range of 250 or so through my Tmobile. It takes great pictures and does all it needs to do. I'm a middle of the road phone person and this meets my needs.

I read the question about breakfast in the parks. We LOVE (probably Matt more than me) 1900 Grand Park Breakfast with Mary Poppins. She is my husband's favorite character. I'm guessing because she is the anti-thesis of my MIL lol. One of my favorite pictures of him is at the breakfast totally blushing and clumsy at meeting MP for the first time. I also happen to like their blintzes and strawberry soup.

I made french toast casserole here the other day adding in peaches I cooked in some bourbon sauce and topped with cream cheese drizzle. It was decadent and super good.

I hope everyone is doing well as they can staying safe as possible.

Gratitudes:
Car shopping is over
Managerial accounting is going well
Still healthy and happy as we can be

Aw, that made me smile, Pea-n-Me, so glad you have a good memory of Minnie's house in WDW with your DD. I remember loving her dishwasher! I don't remember her microwave but will definitely take my time exploring next time I go there ::MinnieMo Mickey's house at DL, on the other hand (to me) is dark and dank, not too much "cute" factor.

Thank you, Tina, very much for the phone recommendation. I will look into that. Congratulations to Matt on his new car :car: Safe travels to him and you in it :) That is one thing I wish DL (I realize we don't have the WDW space out here) had was more dining choices especially with characters. A Mary Poppins breakfast sounds like fun.

Keeping you and your DD in prayer, Bianca and Bernard!

Other Friday Gratitude:

Clean laundry plus an increase in soup supply. FYI, Smart and Final in their weekly ad this week had a 10% off coupon good through next Tuesday.

A nice email from a dear friend.

I got to go outside this morning! I moved my car for next week's street cleaning on Thursday and said hi to Evergreen 🎄I promise to take a picture with my new phone when I get it.

I am beyond grateful every day to God, for another day+ good health and joy. Always prayers we are one day closer to brighter times for all. But these times are also filled with thanksgiving :)

This morning I took a 1 mile circuit walk at a local park. Not much on tap for the weekend. My Blue Apron box arrived today so Oregano Chicken and Orzo tonight. I enjoy the different foods in Blue Apron occasionally.

I would give a arm right now for some pancakes or french toast!
I agree! We used to go out to breakfast once a month or so. Cracker Barrel was always on the list. I would love pancakes or waffles made by someone else. Have you ever gone to Twinnys in Galena? I remember meeting DD and her then boyfriend there for breakfast the morning after they got engaged (at Pecometh).

A fun Friday QOTD to bring a smile now and in thinking about the future, what do you most look forward to enjoying eating at our Minnie's Breakfast? ::MinnieMoWhat character at the breakfast would be most fun for you to meet?
It's been a long time since I have done a character meal. When DD and her hubby daughter were in DL last summer, they went to brunch at the Grand Floridian. Last I went to was the Princess lunch in Norway in WDW in January 2006. It was a girls trip, just me and DD when she was 19, home on winter break from college and I was trying to keep her away from hometown boyfriend. DS was still in high school so stayed home with dad. DD loved the Princesses and wore a princess shirt and tiara. But I got off topic. I would eat Mickey waffles and sausage. Would probably want to see the classic characters - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy.

Been missing gratitudes so let me work on that:
The good smell of grass and flowers on my walk today
The blue sky and puffy white clouds
My gyn, who I like and always takes the time to talk to me.

Did I ever go to Twinnys? DID I EVER GO TO TWINNYS??? Haha, it’s so fun to talk to someone so familiar w/ that tiny corner of the world! I lived in two places in Galena one of them was on one of the back streets behind the bank next to Twinnys! Lots of times I’ve been-
did you ever go to Dixie Joes???

@easyas123, I am not familiar with Dixie Joes and neither is DH who lived in Cecil County his entire life. I have eaten at Vonnie's before it became Molly's.

It was right on the corner as you came into town, right at light. Just past has station.
Oh yeah... Vonnies, now Molly’s.
Memories-

are indeed Minnie (who you get a picture with before going into eat which I think makes it more fun), Pooh, Tigger, Max (Goofy's Son, I never knew him until reading on here who he was lol), Fairy Godmother, and I've heard that sometimes Hook and someone named Rafiki? have been seen at Minnie's, too). Rafiki is from The Lion King, and I would definitely want a pic if he were there!

The penguin would be really fun to run into as well.

I haven’t done any of the character meals at DL, but enjoy tusker house at Animal kingdom. If you get a 10:30 am ( I think that was the time). First trip to buffet was American breakfast food with some African meat, plantains and a few other dishes . Then after meeting characters, they switch to lunch items and you get a whole new set of yummy items. I would love to go to Minnie’s breakfast with all of you.

Not a character meal, but best interaction was meeting the stepsisters . My boys and Hubbie were playing Sorcers. The card game at windows in magic kingdom. So , my mother-in-law and I were shopping by the carousel and saw the stepsisters come out behind the castle. They got a kick out of the fact I was their with my mother in law. Fun memory.

Happy Friday to all!

It's hazy, humid, big hair day here in Indiana. We bought Matt's new car yesterday at Subaru. He now has a Cross Trek to go with my Outback...
Those are two cars we are looking into now! May I ask why you chose them and how you like them? We don't know anyone who has a Subaru, so getting first hand reviews has been slow going.
Character meals: we haven't done one in so long. I miss them. There is something so freeing about being a grown up with characters all around -- the freedom to be silly and happy -- so fun!

Thank you, PollyannaMom for the Rafiki, info :)

Sparkle, what a fun memory :) Please do join us at Minnie's!

Luckyrabbit, I also welcome you to join us at Minnie's! I love how you put that. I didn't always have the happiest of childhoods. I think being able to enjoy DL as an adult makes it more fun to just be there :)

Wishing everyone, a good Saturday!

Just to make everyone, especially @easyas123, jealous, DH and I went out to breakfast today. I wanted waffles but they didn't have them so settled for pancakes. I wasn't as comfortable as at dinner 2 weeks ago even though this was outside. Few of the patrons complied with the state mask requirements but the restaurant (Pier 1 in North East, MD) seemed to be following rules.

We watched the movie Just Mercy last night. I highly recommend it. It was uncomfortable to watch at times but a true story. Very eye opening for me.
