Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Gorgeous day here. 80 degrees, sunny and breezy. I am grateful that husband actually went to both of appointments today at the medical bldg attached to our hospital for the 2 visits that have only been telemedic ones since March. No significant changes in his health, he has only gained 3 lbs since Feb (which is amazing since we are doing a lot more snacking thanks to the virus, lol). Then we came home and he took another hour off from 'working at home' and we put together his new leather office chair that his son and the granddaughters sent him. He says it's 'fluffy and comfy'. I just ran the tiller thru the garden to keep the few weeds at bay, and I am going to give them all a good dose of Miracle Grow in a little while.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone, and @Bianca and Bernard please let us know how your daughter and her friend are feeling!

Thanks, y'all. DD is staying in the hospital again tonight, as her pain is pretty high and she is having trouble breathing. (I would too, with a fracture like that). They said she would be released tomorrow, so I'll have to go up (with some clothes, as they cut off her clothes in the trauma room; the shirt was brand new, just bought the day before; her best leggings, plus her undergarments, which were her best ones and def. not cheap at $70 for the set clearance priced).

Her friend has some bad bruising on her chest and abdomen, from the seatbelt, and is super sore.

Thanks for the update B & B- I hope tomorrow she’s feeling more keen.

today I spent 3 1/2 hours outside this afternoon schlepping around a few nurseries most of it with a mask on. It waS hellish And I had a bit of a rash from mask ( one of those light blue surgical ones - lightest I can get).
wont make that mistake again!

burgers tonight, nice & easy!

I need a hug emoji on here! I hope your daughter and friend is doing better. Just thought if there was any actual damage across the chest from seat belt or actual contact with anything, she should think about a mammogram just make sure all is good elsewhere.

Hi All,

I hope everyone is doing well as they can. I've kind of fallen in the well lately and just been hiding. I'm worried about my mom's nursing home and it taking a toll. All I can do is pray and hope for the best and feel guilty I put her in there. She doesn't have it but the cases are going up in the nursing home but no loss yet. Opening for visitation will not be happening anytime soon.

I did get my hair cut on Friday. She did great job and they took extra precautions. Don't bring someone with you to hang out, have to wear a mask(I was there a while so I got HOT in my mask), 50% staff at one time, sitting in the car or outside the place until time texted to come in and lots hand sanitizer.

We started car shopping. That's not fun without the plague and certainly not with the plague. I'm going to need people understand I don't want them breathing on me from the back seat nor do I want to shake their hands. I'm about to squeeze into a air tube around me and tell everyone that's my bubble space. We have it narrowed down to two cars for Matt as new commuter car. Guess we will see in few days which he picks.

Dinner tonight was fish tacos with slaw, avocado salad, and berries

Gratitudes:
The best people on the DIS in this thread. I'm so glad ya'll are here. Thank you for keeping this going.
Good house and nice deck and our neighborhood pool for my staycation this year
My soft place to land with my worry right now. Bless him.

B&B, sorry your daughter is hurting.

Tina, DH just bought a Honda Accord Saturday. Did all the research online and found the one he wanted at the same dealer I had bought my car 18 months ago. We went, test drove, and bought. DIL was the middle car in a chain reaction rear end. No one was hurt but due to the age of her car and damage, it was totaled. She ordered a Kia Niro online. Not sure she has even been in one but I think she had a Kia before.

I'm worried about my mom's nursing home and it taking a toll. All I can do is pray and hope for the best and feel guilty I put her in there.
Do not ever feel guilty! Your mother is in a safe place. And without knowing all the details, I doubt that you put her there. She most likely needed a safe healthy living place to be. (I have worked in a lot of log term care facilities and had my mom and MIL in ones.)

Today I had a dentist appt and gyn appt. Dentist was so different than before. Not as much difference at gyn.

Dinner was spaghetti and salad.

Gratitudes:
A lily I replanted from a neighbor is actually surviving and has a bud. (I do NOT have a green thumb.)
Beautiful sky tonight.
having you all as virtual friends.

@Bianca and Bernard Goodness, how worrisome. I am glad your daughter is on the mend. :flower3:
@Meriweather congrats on cutting your hair. I cut mine today, too. Life's an adventure these days.
QOTD
I love tulips in the spring and roses the rest of the year.
Seems like this week is flying by. I can't believe tomorrow is Thurs.
Sending good wishes to all! 🌺

Many prayers continuing Bianca and Bernard! Hugs.

Hug to you, too Tina. Please let me know either on here or by PM what you would like me to do with our QOTD list :) I will be happy to keep updating it each day. I could email it to you or one of us could start a QOTD posting only thread but I am not sure that would last (without replies). I would volunteer if everyone would like to be the QOTD consultant whenever someone may want to know whether we've already asked something. Up to each of you! Thanks :)

I do have a phone question to ask. Do any of you lovely folks have an Android phone in the Galaxy Series? I currently have the J3 that I purchased in late September, 2018 so not even 2 years go :( This was actually the second time getting this same phone within a few week period as the first one had mal-functioned. The current phone (this started the last few days) no longer charges properly (sometimes not all). I plugged into a socket my Dad's electric toothbrush just to try that out and it worked immediately. After over 20 minutes plugged into this same socket yesterday, the phone had made zero progress :P In the socket I normally used without any issue for charging the phone would take 20 minutes to advance 1 or 2%, eek! I was able to fully charge it in a third socket but it does not seem to hold the charge either so that's another concern. i know either can be a fire hazard.

I do have a 2 year protection plan on it through Square Trade bought at Wal-Mart and have filed a claim for a check reimbursement upon their receipt of the phone. Waiting for them to send me a prepaid shipping label. I am so thankful for that!

I am not a fancy phone user, lol. I would say I use it 70 or so% for talk and 30% text. I do not ever stream videos on it, game, or spend time on the internet aside from once in a blue moon a quick Google search, pre-plague when I used to get out. I 100% of the time use free wifi. I do have data through Verizon if need be so that is not an issue either. I do love the camera on the phone it works wonderfully. Pictures I get by text come in clearly, too.

Quick question when you (any of you :)) get a text notification upon turning on your phone (so one that was sent when it was turned off) what time does it say the message was sent? Pretend I received an early morning text tomorrow at 7am. Should I not turn on my phone until 8am, 8am would be the time the phone would indicate the text was sent. Same if it was sent this evening.

I learned via Google Samsung discontinued the J series in April, 2019. It looked like the old J merged with the A series. I would appreciate so much any recommendations for a new Galaxy phone that would be similar to what I'm used to! I do not have a lot of money to invest in it either. I would think a new phone should last at least 2 years, more like 3 or 4!

Finally, to answer today's QOTD (thank you, Breezy Carol :)), my favorite flower has always been pink carnations.

Hubby and I just got new Galaxy S10's about 3 weeks ago. He was due for an upgrade, and I could get a new phone free, so we just added a line to his plan, and I ditched my old LG tracfone. I love, love, love my new phone. Since hubby has had a galaxy for years, I was already pretty familiar with a lot of the features. To answer your question about the time on texts, if I shut my phone off overnite, as I normally do, when I turn it on in the morning, any texts sent last nite have last nite's time on it. Sister in law texted me at 9:30 last nite to let me know they had gotten home safely , and this morning when I turned it on, I saw the text and the 9:30 pm time. It sounds like maybe your battery is going/gone in your phone if it took 3 different electrical outlets to finally get it charged. Possibly it's shorting out when it's plugged in? Hubby had a galaxy S6 for about 4 years, thats what we traded in on his new one, and the only thing wrong with it (other than being old), is that something happened to one of the pins in the charging port at the bottom, so we had to use a wireless charger on it. Good luck choosing and buying a new phone, it's sure an experience, lol!

I don't think anyone has asked a question today so I'll make one up.

QOTD - What is your favorite flower?

I think I would pick a brightly colored Gerber daisy, if I was picking just one.

Tulips.....used to live in WA and every year we go to the tulip fields. Amazing. Tulip festival was fun too.

Such pretty flowers to envision and see 💐Good Morning to everyone, too :)

Thank you Lynxstch very much for the phone suggestion. I will look into the S 10. I should have mentioned last night also that one thing that might make this search harder is that Square Trade through Wal-Mart seems to be the cheapest and longest protection plan. The closest Wal-Mart to me is almost an hour away. I am not able to be in public anywhere right now (until face covering mandate is lifted one day....I pray it will be safe to be lifted eventually) I would not want my Dad to have to trek all the way their either though he might have to....I would never ask any of my friends who do live in that area to get it for me (to be reimbursed of course)! So....probably means turning to Wal-Mart.com We do have a Target close by but as far as I know their warranty plans are much more money. I also appreciate your text time info, I didn't think my phone was supposed to indicate the turn on time for when a text was sent. My Dad's phone does the same thing.

Thank you, also, Breezy Carol for that suggestion. Dad has the same phone. I did try his charger and immediately my phone gave the warning message that it needed to be charged with its specific charger. I did not see if it would charge with his might need to. Dad's phone always shows the yellow warning triangle that indicates a connection issue. However, when he unplugs the phone and then re-plugs it back in, it charges. I have tried to tell him this is not ideal and possibly a fire hazard but he seems fine with it for now.
