Springtime Surprise 2026 (Apr 16-20)

LOL I feel this. I don't want to SS but Aladdin....?? I am compelled to consider it now. Is the last character in the banner usually the challenge? Is that all three races?
Yes and yes. I want to do SS, I want to do every weekend just because I love running and I love Disney (but Pooh puts it on a new level). I do not, however, want to go tell my husband that I want to do SS after doing MW and PW 🫣 because I know how that conversation is going to go. I have to start coming up with some incentives to him!

I am sitting here having the SAME thoughts...LOL! I already "convinced" DH that we needed to run the January full...then, of course, we love to do princess weekend so we signed up for the half there....now this rolls along and I am like, uh oh.... 🤣. Good luck, I hope you manage to work your magic!! 🤗💜

My bank account just said "Whew!"

If this had been Star Wars themed, then I would've had to make it work no matter what. But I'm already doing Marathon weekend so now I'll skip SS and hope for Star Wars in a future year.

Happy for everyone who likes the themes, though. I actually like them too, but not enough to go to this and Marathon weekend next year.

I ADORE Zootopia and so happy finally to get a Pooh race, but I'm SO DISAPPOINTED they left Star Wars on the table! I am, however, relieved not to need to do the Challenge at this time of year again. Debating whether it is worth the trip for the 5K + 10K, but since I can stay with my mom, I'll probably do them.

Whew. Planning on doing the 10-Miler for the Coast to Coast, and I was hoping I wouldn't love the themes enough to sign up for the Challenge. :rotfl: I'm pretty ambivalent about the (rumored) themes. I really like Aladdin and Winnie the Pooh, but they're not ones that I feel like I must get the medals for. (Unlike when its was Pixar and then Lion King.)

I ADORE Zootopia

You are the first person that I've seen mention Zootopia. I saw Zootopia and was instantly doing a :banana:dance.

Personally, I was hoping for Star Wars, but I'm definitely take these themes. I can see a strong and clear overarching theme of "friendship," which is more than I can say about some of the other race themes recently.

I would love for it to be Star Wars and that would get me to sign up (barring a successful registration).

Who do I expect though:

Wreck-It-Ralph and Vanellope
Joy and Sadness
Baloo and Mowgli
Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde

Just a hodgepodge of random characters.
I feel like I need to buy a Powerball ticket now 🤔. I always forget Disney owns the right to Winnie-the-Pooh. Have they used him in a race before?

One of these years, I'll get down for there for this challenge. The 10-mile distance is my favorite.

I’m actually writing this at the poolside at VGF…..sitting on the sidelines nursing a stitched up laceration to my knee 12 hours before our scheduled departure time a few days ago. I was really looking forward to doing some runs here this week but doctor’s orders were to rest it. Oh well. I actually just asked my wife about SS and she said she’d do it again. Either 10k or 10miler. I guess it’ll depend on what’s available. As for the themes I’m only familiar with Aladdin and Inside Out. 2 movies I love. So I’m good with that.

I’ve always said if they did a Pooh & friends weekend I’d be there. One race isn’t going to do it for me. So many opportunities wasted. They could easily have the whole weekend themed to Pooh! I just think this falls under another discombobulated SS weekend. 🙄

I’m underwhelmed. 😝 I like the Genie/Aladdin theme but don’t really want to do the challenge.

I’m also not a huge fan of Inside Out, but want to do the 10 miler, so 🤷🏻‍♀️
Yeah, none of the themes are enticing to me, But, I decided two years ago that I don’t care what rD themes this race weekend - for ME, it’ll be all SW, all the time! I like trying to do a mashup of SW with the actual race theme, but I’m also perfectly okay just doing SW. But I definitely don’t feel any need to do all three races in that case, so it may be either 10K or 10M.

I’m guessing the overarching theme is Best Friends or the like. Which is nice, I suppose… but it’s no STAR WARS. :darth:

I have a yellow Sparkle skirt from my Snow White costume. Maybe I should be Threepio and have someone be Artoo... or I can wear my Rey crowned outfit and someone can be Finn or BB-8. :D

I love the idea of a SW mashup with the theme. I literally watched Zootopia a few days ago and said to DH that I need to do a Judy Hopps costume. Judy Hopps + Artoo would be SUPER CUTE!!!

I'm thinking of trying the Challenge.

I was planning on running the 5k as an easy run, making the 10K my target race, and maybe doing the 10 miler as a run/walk.

This is probably crazy talk and I should focus on the 10K only. I was just thinking, if I'm making the trip....

This isn’t the place to be talked out of doing more races 😁😁

I usually think of the 5K as a kind of shakeout run. And you have almost a whole year to get trained up, so no reason not to just do everything, as long as you’re there. And doing the challenge means you only need to register for one thing, which makes life easier.
