It will be great to see more videos and pictures on Touring Plans once the tower opens.Just want to say that I feel like the lower floor views are equally good in their own way; helps with the castle scale.

If you get a room with a nice Ocean View and a long balcony, reserve some seating so you don’t have to play the chair Hunger Games, have a car to go run around the Island, get into the Olelo room at night without much of a wait, go down and get some malasadas early and enjoy a cup of coffee at Off the Hook while looking at the ocean before bringing the tasty treats up to the room for the rest of your family…. man…. it’s pretty special! You are my idol.
For us, Aulani puts all the rest of the DVC resorts to shame.

If I remember correctly, the blue prints had two walkout areas on each side of the rooms on 9th and/or 10th. If so, everyone on those floors will have a nice view. (I am assuming those floors are only accessible to guests staying on those floors)Also the four preferred Duo Studios technically guarantee a 9/10th floor. A cheeky way if you want to fashion yourself a fake grand villa. With 365 balcony options to boot.
I feel sorry for the CMs. People will book 2BR TPV and expect it to be similar to penthouse view. Reality is you may be put in a lower floor less desirable. IIRC, there will be someone who is lucky enough to get a studio on the same floor as the penthouse.
Sadly, CMs are the ones dealing with expectations. Floor location is only guaranteed for those penthouses.

Still love this view, but I feel that these palm trees will be the complaint of many a guest that paid for these TPVs.Yeah, I'm somewhat surprised at the number of palm trees they planted along the lagoon side (although don't get me wrong, it looks great from the outside). For years there were numerous palm trees in spots in front of the Hawaii longhouse (club level longhouse), some which legitimately blocked the view of the castle, so it was a mix of Theme Park View and Lagoon View categories. In recent years they cut down the palm trees and eventually moved a majority of the second and third floor rooms to TPV.
The below room view credit to wdwnt.com is probably pretty telling - third floor (a 1 BR, room 8356). Just high enough to see over the palm trees (for now) and get a decent view of things above the islands. Seems like if I had a TPV room category booked, I'd personally want to be 3 or higher just to be safe.

If that’s a third floor view, with clear LOS to Castle, Space, etc, I’d say that bodes pretty well for the views on that side!Yeah, I'm somewhat surprised at the number of palm trees they planted along the lagoon side (although don't get me wrong, it looks great from the outside). Fortunately there aren't 'that many' TPV rooms on floors 1-2 and many are likely to also be quite nice, but someone has to get them.

Agreed, if you shoved VDHs grand villa where the penthouses are it'd probably be my favorite grand villa of all time and I'd probably blow the points to stay there. I wish they at least had the fireplace out on the balcony.I actually disagree pretty strongly with this. Other than the penthouse view what does this penthouse 2bedroom really provide over a standard 2 bedroom? A smidge more space, a larger dining table, and an extra tv? I really struggle to find the justification in the points they’re charging for these rooms.
Now comparing that to VDH - you get a 3rd bedroom there, a significantly larger balcony, an indoor/outdoor fireplace, an enormous outdoor sectional and eating space, and vaulted ceilings. Views might not be as good, but the room itself? Hard to compare
Bungalows have less beds and don’t have the view.At that point I'd just say forget it I'll book a bungalow or save some points with a cabin :X
I think a lot of the theming in those VDH rooms are “cringe” as my kid would say.Agreed, if you shoved VDHs grand villa where the penthouses are it'd probably be my favorite grand villa of all time and I'd probably blow the points to stay there. I was talking about the grand villa specifically and not really talking about the theming of the other rooms because I do think the theming in the tower is quite good. More about the layout with high ceilings and the fireplace outside and then the extra bedroom of course and etc.I think a lot of the theming in those VDH rooms are “cringe” as my kid would say.
The Frozen horse looks like it has a flatulence trail behind it…. just strange….
View is in the eye of the beholder. The view of fireworks and light pageant are absolutely spectacular from my private plunge pool, with a glass of wine in hand.Bungalows have less beds and don’t have the view.
Big caveat: I haven’t been there. But when I saw the Steamboat Mickey splash pad I almost pulled out my wallet immediately. And my kids are a bit old for splash pads. There is a lot I like about how VDH is themed from what I’ve seen, and I have very positive associations with the actual Disneyland Hotel.I think a lot of the theming in those VDH rooms are “cringe” as my kid would say.

This is exactly how I feel. They had an opportunity to make it hands down the most desirable grand villa in the entire DVC portfolio, but chose not to. With that said, my disappointment here doesn’t take away from how awesome I think the rest of the tower is.Agreed, if you shoved VDHs grand villa where the penthouses are it'd probably be my favorite grand villa of all time and I'd probably blow the points to stay there. But really aside from the view itself which TBF is amazing, I'm not seeing that much which makes it worthy of the title of penthouse. When I think of penthouse idk I think of extreme luxury. Like if I'm only getting 2 bedrooms for the same amount of points I'd be paying for a 3BR at Riviera or Grand Flo, there needs to be something up there of value to make it equivalent and personally I'm not seeing it.![]()
Is the restaurant open? … is the walking path open? … I wasn’t readyChecked in at Poly. Today is a “soft opening”, but not publicly admitted. Very busy at GCH.
Also we heard a manager telling the GCH checkin staff, they are updating their system. iPads they use will stop working for about an hour.
Please be patient with CMs. Much is happening and they are doing the best they can.
The actual room? Not even close. VGF and RIV GV’s are unquestionably better.I was talking about the grand villa specifically and not really talking about the theming of the other rooms because I do think the theming in the tower is quite good. Genuinely asking but do you consider this equivalent to Grand Floridians grand villa?
So, I have stayed in a VDH PV studio, a 1 bedroom vill, and a garden duo. I’m staying in a tower duo in Feb.Big caveat: I haven’t been there. But when I saw the Steamboat Mickey splash pad I almost pulled out my wallet immediately. And my kids are a bit old for splash pads. For those that stayed at all three GVs at each of those resorts, first, LUCKY! Second, you must agree that all three are amazing in the styles they were designed: Victorian, European modern, or Mid-century Modern. Third, isn't it like comparing apples to oranges in trying to rank them? Purely subjective and taste-based.The actual room? Not even close. VGF and RIV GV’s are unquestionably better.
The view? POLY PH is far superior.
We haven’t had a chance to check that side. Some room issues and MB issues. Finally have one pair of MB able to get into room. I am up to 7 trips to GCH so far. MVMCP tonight, so we won’t be able to explore today. Is the restaurant open? … is the walking path open? … I wasn’t ready![]()
