PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

C on the pool and "splash pad". Has anyone even seen the splash pad functioning with water? I'm starting to get worried the splash bad is more or less just something for kids to climb on, and there's no water or fountains.

I’d probably dial your expectations back on this. It’s a life size Moana on a boat with a few water squirts/splashes. Think the CR squirt pad with Moana in the middle. Definitely only practical for the littles, IMHO.

At least you’re only a minute walk away from the Lava Pool kids area, which I personally rate as top of the pack for WDW resorts.

I’m actually OK it’s not “all that” since you have a really good one close by and anything “cooler” would run the risk of attracting more outsider attendance or being louder. Kiki Tiki’s splash area is actually quite noisy if you sit back and listen - I sort of like the calmer vibes of the Cove Pool area, which will be a plus for Tower and surrounding longhouse rooms facing that area.

Just trying to find some positives somewhere!

I haven’t seen the splash pad functioning. The tour guide told us that the water streams have motion activated lights in them, so when a child puts their hand (or feet) in the spray it will light up. As a splash pad connoisseur, it is very underwhelming for the 3+ crowd. The super tiny littles that are just learning to walk will be entertained, but anyone else that is accustomed to Riviera or Kidani are going to be disappointed once the fascination with Moana wears off. It’s just not interactive enough.
Yeah, as someone with 3 young kids, I'm wildly unimpressed. The one saving grace is the lava pool does have a pretty awesome splash pad with kids slides and whatnot. However, if I, as an Island Tower guest, have to go over to the lava pool's splash pad every time to appease my kids, then we're only adding to the already stressed capacity at the lava pool.

Meanwhile had they made a splash pad like the one at Riv, then I could see me and my family only using the island tower pool every time we stay in a 1 or 2 bedroom.

I did ask, at the very first individual meeting. They said that they would monitor the pool usage, but that they were not planning on wrist bands at this time. 🤷🏼‍♀️ if I understand correctly, I thought I read that the pools actually fall under hotel control. So the operational decisions for the pools lie with the resort, not DVC. Does that sound right?

Yes, it does but I think that DVC can at least share with parks issues that might arise. Ultimately though the hotel gets to have final say.

Yeah, the resort GM and duty managers are the more important ones on things like this. Survey responses and giving feedback on that link they usually send after checking in would be my suggestion as those do get read and acted upon at times.

Also Poly has a new GM as of sometime recently, if I’m not mistaken. Sometimes that can lead to operational tweaks/changes.

As a regular Poly guest the past 10 years I’m sort of 50 50 on the wristband topic. I’ve certainly seen gate crashing abuse over the years and don’t love it. I’ve talked to other guests in the hot tub talking about how they’re staying somewhere else (some seem to legitimately think this is OK). I couldn’t judge if it’s a ‘major problem’ or not, but I suspect it happens with some relative frequency on the margins.

I’m skeptical Disney will ever staff what could potentially be 5 entry points at the Lava Pool alone, they just have never taken any sort of aggressive management effort with anything with the pools. Heck, I’d be happy if they’d just actively pick up guest towels from chairs where guests have clearly left, but they hardly do that!

But yeah, those surveys and feedback links are important!

Ok, now that the media folks pictures are on the internet. Why do you think this glass is frosted? Do you think it’s so people don’t congregate there to watch the fireworks? In the hallways of the upper floors it is not frosted. (Photo credit: Allears.net)

Agreed. It’s disappointing that the pool doesn’t have a slide nor will there be lifeguards. BLT’s pool is small but includes these two features so it works well for us with a 5 yo. Honestly, this discouraged me from buying at Poly.

Definitely to discourage fireworks viewing and people starting fights for the best spot in front of a glass balcony

They had frosting on the 5th floor elevator as well and the explanation from CMs was that it was temporary to block out the ongoing construction. That outdoor landing just outside the window was being actively worked on when they toured us.

But we didn’t ask or notice about this spot on my tour

Oh my gosh. I didn’t mean to respond that way to @Sandisw. I clearly can’t multi-task with my kid around. Sorry, Sandi!!!
