Purse Wallet Stolen at Epcot

My son lost his wallet at the Haunted Mansion. It was at lost and found the next day with money and everything else in it. I am hoping that you have the same outcome.

I just want to say how sorry I am that this happened to you. I'm sending you prayers and pixie dust!, :grouphug:

Hoping that today is the day that you get good news. pixiedust:

:grouphug: prayers and wishes for pixie dust for you and your family!

Awww...I'm terribly sorry this happened to you! Hoping that someone brought it to lost and found and it just hasn't hit the inventory thing yet.

I'm so sorry, too. I know you're stressed! I will join the prayer circle and hope that it turns up.

I hope that if someone stole it, they'll go home with bedbugs! :sad2:

Really don't like to be the "negative" one of the group, but...

...the reality of the matter is if your property hasn't been returned within a few days, it won't.

Also, another reality is WDW is just like any other big place with large groups of people -- a perfect storm for petty theft, and other small-scale crimes to be committed.

Noone should ever let the fact they're in a "magical" place cloud their basic, personal security of person/property.

Also, something else to be considered -- these things can easily happen at WDW because the definition of "law enforcement" tends to be rather vague on Disney property (police powers, depending on the situation, are shared by Disney Security and the Orange County Sheriff's Department -- as for who does what, that tends to be the big question).

OP - you may also want to contact the OC Sheriff's Dept. and file a lost report with them, too -- you never know...

I sure hope your purse turns up!!!!

I once left my purse laying in a seat at a Burger King, we moved tables for a bigger one and I walked off without it. About 20 minutes later I noticed it was missing. I walked back to the table where we had been sitting (not 30 feet from where we moved to) and it was gone. Someone had turned it in but not before they stole all the cash out of it -- I had just cashed my paycheck before dinner and it was all in the wallet. I just kept telling myself that maybe it was someone that needed the money more than I did. Still stinks though.

Praying someone turns your in and it is still just lost in transit.

Exactly. We had someone steal a brand new stroller a few years ago and it was recovered, along with several others (It was a couple of theives who were stealing strollers with items left on them).

This is why we only bring the essentials into the park. Minimal cash ($100) and the rest credit cards, drivers license and medical cards, nothing else. We bring our phones and one camera (I leave my DSLR at home). People who bring these huge bags into the park filled with all sorts of things along with purses, camera bags, etc...tend to get lazy and leave things laying around.I sometimes see people bring enough things into the park for an overnight stay.

we (actually, "i" - for some reason i notice things out of place:confused3) have found quite a few lost items in WDW and elsewhere.
the wallet might have been eventually brought to L&F - if the person was on a schedule, and/or with a group, or it was given to a CM, it might not get to GS until later that day. i know a few ppl who have lost things there, and the items did not show up until a few days later, so there is definately still hope.

i can't imagine keeping a lost item; hopefully the process and whoever found your wallet was just a bit slow (an AT&T rep asked why i didn't just keep a pricey smart phone i found, and just looked at me like i was crazy when i told him, "because it's not mine" - guess not everyone gets that concept).

if it doesn't show up, know you have done a great job protecting your credit, etc. then look at your family, and think how lucky you are that anything lost is replaceable. your family is still healthy, and you are spending time together - this is just a bump in the road

My first thought is that if it were gone so quickly, someone saw it almost immediately afterwards, realized it would be important to someone, and took it to a cast member right away. I hope it turns up for you! ((hug))

I'm really sorry this happened to you. I know how it puts a damper on your Disney trip. My second Disney trip was my Disneymoon. I was in the restroom at MK and took off my engagement ring, wedding band, and a very nice sapphire ring to put on sunblock. It was a crowded restroom, I got distracted with a text, and when I looked up, the rings were gone. I spent the first hour in MK bawling my eyes out. I really hope your purse turns up.

Oh that's terrible!! I'm so sorry! :(

I was going to say this. We've found quite a few things and sometimes we can't get to L&F right away so we either give the item to a CM or we hold onto it to turn in ourselves. We prefer to turn high value items (such as cameras, phones, wallets) in ourselves but we will give shopping bags to CM's to turn in.

My DD left her backpack sitting at a cash register once, it was clearly a child's bag as it had her school ID in her wallet, she didn't have much money in it but she did value the bag and the items she did have in it, it was never turned in. DBF left his pin bag (with hundreds of pins in it) at our table after we finished eating, he realized it within minutes and ran back but it was gone, luckily the person at the table next to us noticed it and turned it in to a CM so we were able to get it back right away. That was a huge relief.

Good luck to you, I hope you get your purse back!

I pray it turns up....I can only imaging how upsetting it is :( to lose something that valuable.

I'm glad you posted though...it's a good reminder for me to always make sure I keep copies of my gift cards, my park tickets and numbers to call to cancel cards if they were to get stolen. I would have had no idea the numbers to call to cancel cards and such while on vacation.

I really pray your stuff shows up!!!!

When I find things I turn them into Cast Members, I have found many room tickets at the Fast Pass things. The CM turn them into lost and found but it can take a while. DD left her bag on Space Mountain and they had it, we noticed it right away.

Yeah, just because Disney seems like a safe place , you still should treat it like a mall, park, etc..

My dh and I were in MK several years ago waiting on a bench when we saw a lady on the opposite side of the street leave her purse to apparently buy a soda.. We were about to tell a cast member because it had been more then 15 minutes since she just left it there , and someone could have easily just snatched it up . However, she returned and picked it up like it was no big deal. :confused3

Something that no one has mentioned is perhaps the person that found the wallet will return it. but is going to do it themselves. They have your address, just maybe they will mail it to you at home. I know it won't help you out now but....

My BIL is a manager at Wal-mart and he says to NEVER turn anything found in to a floor employee as the chances of it ever making it to lost and found are very low. Ask for a manager or if there is an address to take care of it yourself. Sad Sad Sad.... but true.

I, too, hope your wallet is returned. But, on a positive note, think about how many people are praying for you! What a gift to be prayed for by so many.

I hope the rest of your vacation is happy and that you have a safe trip home!

More prayers heading your way......
