Purse Wallet Stolen at Epcot

I used to work at Knott's Berry Farm and was a lead in Lost and Found.

I was really surprised at the items that were turned in and never claimed. OP, you are doing the right thing. Keep calling and checking in.

It does take sometimes a few days for things to filter into L&F at a big park. I could just imagine that they have a lot of sorting to do once an item hits their central area.

One more thing, if anyone gets an item turned back in and it is returned to you (both Disney and KBF doesn't charge for mailing items back) feel free to write your L&F person a thank you note! I sent out an average of 15 items a day, five days a week and after being their four years, I got five thank you notes. The ones from the kids in their own handwriting, I still have them even though it has been 1993 since I worked there.

I wish you the best of luck, OP.

The year that DS turned 7 we went to Disney. He was always looking at everything. So, he found someone's wallet on the ground. He gave it to me and we took it to guest service. Since DH works at Target, he asked for a manager like another PP said. He then told the CM what had happened and who found it.

The manager took it and assured us that he would make sure that it got to a safe place.

The best part was that he gave DS a "free" fast pass to use on any ride.

I truly believe that karma will come around. Good or bad.

I know that I would still do the same thing. Because I would want someone to do it for me. I think about how I would feel if it happened to me. It's sad that people can take other's hard earned money and possessions.

Edited to add: I'm keeping you in my prayers!

Sending prayers and pixie dust your way!!

I had a camcorder stolen from me years ago at the Magic Kingdom.

Makes you feel so icky.

Check your home phone answering machine. Someone may have found your purse and called your home phone.

Fingers crossed for you!!!

We have turned in TWO cameras at Disney - I believe both were at the Magic Kingdom. We were sitting next to a family at an outside table across from the racecars eating ice cream. Most of the famly left & dad cleaned up & threw the garbage. But then forgot to go back & get their nice DSL. We grabbed it & kept it on our table until we finished our ice cream, assuming they would come back quickly. However, they didn't. So we took it into the gift shop & left it. They indicated it would be sent to L/F at front of the park so the people would be able to claim it.

Seriously don't remember where the second one was. It was on a different trip.

I have a tendency to strip my purse down when I am in Vegas or Disney. Only a minimum of meds/insulin. My DL & one CC & some cash. The rest of the stuff stays in safe or room. I apply all gift cards to my room & then charge to room. In Vegas I have the same & always room charge at my hotel 'family'.

Sorry to hear. Keeping you in my prayers. Please update us, hopefully with good news. God bless.

Pixie dust to you! FWIW, I accidentally left my DH's iTouch behind in a seatback pocket on an airplane. I didn't realize it for 2 days and lo and behold, there in my email box was an email from someone on the next flight who had found it and had been trying to locate the owner. She didn't hand it over to the flight attendants for fear that it would never make its way back to me from lost and found and the Apple store employees, after figuring out it was not registered, offered to wipe it clean for her. :scared1::sad2: Anyway, she finally located my info and sent it back to me. Don't lose hope yet. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. GL!

I don't know about this whole employee theft line... my workplace has a very strict policy that if anything is found, ANYTHING, it goes immediately up to customer service. We can't hold it within the department for a few minutes to see if anyone comes back, we can't ask a customer who found it to take it up there. Supposedly they'll do mock ups of this, pose as a customer who finds something or leave a purse or phone somewhere and see what happens to it and if an employee doesn't turn it in, we face major issues.

I hope that someone turns it in. It sucks to lose something at WDW. My DD13 lost a lanyard in a bathroom in Epcot and when she went back to get it, it was gone.
It turned up the next day in the lost and found. The woman who cleans the bathroom found it and it took her a while to get it to the lost and found.

I wish you luck and pixie dust!

I would advise you to go to the main lost & found building outside TTC (old kennel). We have been amazingly lucky there finding our stuff: sunglasses lost on TSMM, a camera that fell through the monorail track @ MKstation & incredible a pretty valuable gold chain & cross lost at DQ which was transported to the building. We have NOT had good luck by phone. I hope you get your whole purse back! Praying to St. Anthony for you as well.

I'll keep your family in my prayers!

My boyfriend recently left his wallet on a shelf at the store and, thinking he had left it at the laundromat (stop before there), went on a wild goose chase to find it. He gave up and came home. Shortly after he arrived, an elderly lady came knocking at the door, his wallet in hand.

I really believe there are good, honest people out there and that it finds it's way back to you.

I am hoping for such luck. :)

Just came back from WDW . I was in Epcot Bathroom(there was a line and I do not remember which one it was) I went in the stall but since I wear a back pack I did not take it off just got ready to do what I needed to. In the middle of using the bathroom, I glance to the side and see someone left a crossbody purse hanging on the hook...the hook was on the side in this bathroom. Now I am in a panic. I cannot stop what I am doing to run out (if you know what I mean) and give it back to her but I hope I will not miss her when I am done. LUCKILY, she took quite a long time to wash her hands and I JUST caught her before she left the bathroom. She had no idea she had left it behind. Thankfully I had caught her in time. She was from UK goodness only knows if she had her passport in it.

I HOPE that is the case with you. Maybe the person could not make it out in time and it is just taking a little while for security get it back.

Oh I hope you get your purse back... I left my back pack sitting on the chair at Casey Corner in MK( we had just arrived and I was excited) I realized within 5 minutes..went back and someone had already turned in and it was heading to the front GS in City Hall... I was lucky.
I also never take wallet or most of all license I lock in safe in room... I take room key and pass and maybe one credit card... just in case after that incident...so no problem with getting home...only had a CM ask for license a few times for AP discount in a store...had to go get husband but some accept the room key and credit card... this is for a 10% discount..:)

that's the way it is...some people troll thru WDW looking for stuff to take.... My wallet was stolen a few years back...I learned a good lesson about making photocopies of license, and all cards and tix etc to leave in room, just in case.:thumbsup2
I had put it down after paying for food, turned away, and forgot it on a ledge, when I next looked for it,it had been stolen while I was looking away (sigh)
flying home wasn;t an issue, just a bit more time in security
We also had a stroller stolen once, which security found later in the evening elsewhere(we had left a bag of snacks in it,must have tempted someone LOL)
In the end,you just learn as you go....
I've also lost stuff that isn't worth much, and it's been turned in days later too,so you never know! (ds1 at 2years old, when they found his lost figment stuffie:cheer2:)

Forgot to say in my previous post that you can fly without id, it is just a longer screening process by TSA. Helps if you are flying with someone with the same last name. Still sending prayers, know how stressful this is & how it hangs over your vacation.

Ummm, not if you fly international. I was in the UK about a year ago on business and someone stole my passport. Thankfully I had copies with me but I would not be able to board with it. I had to go to the US Embassy and get special permission from them which took about 8 hours. They would also not let me leave the premises w/o that form so I had to wait there.

Of course if you are flying internationally you need a passport. However, the OP referred to the fact that she was concerned about the loss of her Driver's License and the problems that would cause her flying, so clearly she was flying domestically. (Also, her location in her signature indicates she lives in Pennsylvania.) The PP was responding to the OPs situation - in that case, you can still fly, there is just a more lengthy screening at the airport.

My grandson set down his BRAND BRAND NEW from infinity and beyond toy(lol) to pay for candy on Main Street candy shop and someone took it right out from under him. UNBELIEVABLE I am not down playing your purse with money and all the important stuff as I hate that for you. When I got back to Cont. Resort I called front desk and told them about it. Next day they sent up a brand new one. The toy cost around 40. so I was so happy for him. But his expression just about made me cry when someone took it from him.:grouphug:

My purse with everything from credit cards, varnet sunglasses, phone and all was stolen at Disney years ago. I reported it. Come to find out it was a woman who had sent her 12 year old daughter to pick it up. When I finished with her (and $194 in phone calls later), she lost custody of her child (she was in the middle of a divorce) and she had to make restitution for everything. She also lost her job because I sent a copy of the police report to Denny's Corporate Office.

Hang in there. Hope you get it back. :-(

Unbelievable - you 'helped' her to lose custody and caused her to get fired from her job because she stole your purse? And you brag it up on here? Must be proud of yourself...sheesh.
