Project Runway, season 6, official discussion thread.

I think space girl might have stayed if she'd had a better "story" for her outfit. As it was she gave some crack pipe speech about going to the Emmys and then swinging by the Nobel Peace Prize awards on the same day. Huh? Ooookayyyyyy. If she'd said, this is something that might be worn at the grammys by bjork or at the teen choice awards by the lead singer of a techno punk band with a tendancy toward irreverance, she might have been able to create a story that made some sense. As it was she was so far out in space they knew she's never be able to actually work to the challenge. I was pretty glad to see her go.

Nekkid guy- Mitchell, right? - lost me at hello. I think his smocking adventure was all about inteding to show craftsmanship rather than design, since hand smocking is quite a skill. Even the original dress on the dressform was ugly, IMO. Yech.

Color me surprised that Lohan was sober and a good judge. Who knew.

Malivn- the androgonyous asian guy that said he doesn't notice the color of carpets- can't get off my screen soon enough. He's an arrogant special snowflake. Yech.

OMG yes! That dress looked like something a grandmother would wear in 1953.

The look on Ari's face was priceless when LL said the line about "At the end of the day, somebody has to buy your dress." Yep, you need a balance between being innovative and creative and actually making a marketable product. Boy did that concept hit her over the head like a baseball bat.

I was happy with who won and am looking forward to seeing him do more.

I have always like Daniel Vosovic. Well done!

I agree, Malvin really is driving me nuts already. I also did not like that purple dress at all and Mitchell :confused3, I couldn't believe that he didn't have time as soon as he knew his models measurements were wrong to come up with something else. He could havestill used the smocking but maybe as a front panel instead of all the way around the dress.

I really liked his stuff too, that black dress was perfect.

I loved watching the 2 hour special. Itwas nice seeing everyone again. I still did not like Santino, was surprised at Chris's designs, thought Sweet Pea looked really nice , Korto...another one that makes me go :confused3, she has talent and she has a rotten atitude. Sheis always making faces, rolling her eyes and she never gives the other designer any credit...always just "poor me, I am in second place again but I should have won"

I really hated that dress on the form - reminded me of Holly Hobby for some reason. I think if that had gone out he might have gone home - the sheer one was better!

I like the Christopher's dress that won - it was original but not so "out there" as to not be marketable.

I did not like the red dress by Johnny. Thought the model looked like a flying squirrel coming down the runway.

I really likes the All Stars show. It was pretty clear that Santino was annoying the other designers, entertaining for me but I cannot imagine working in the same space as he works in.

Korto! Holy Smokes! As soon as she starting whining I wanted her to lose, I cannot stand a sore loser.

I liked Sweet P's designs, I would never wear them but they were cute.

I liked Daniel a lot, he is just a nice guy and it was good to hear him credit PR for helping to launch his career

I am going to like watching this season of PR, plenty of characters to keep me :rotfl2:

That "androgynous" guy was creeping me out! I felt bad for the guy who made that red dress. "Flying squirrel" :lmao: I loved the back but now that you mention it, the front could be a huge wingspan for a small animal

The freaky girl who was eliminated.............an awards show in 2030 or something? Wow! Entertaining but whacked! I agree that she was just making up her own challenge to suit her taste and style. If that outfit was red carpet, any red carpet, what on Earth would she make for a sportswear or business suit challenge?

Nekkid guy's dress  I missed the models show...was that model fired? She should have been, these folks do not have much time to change their outfits if the girl lies about her measurements

I hated the purple dress.

Oh well, I cannot wait til next week!

I think I might get a PR recapping job over at Reality TV Games (same username) so wish me luck!

I hate Korto now. No one disses my Leanimal :lovestruc Daniel V I've never cared for, he won, like, almost every challenge on the show, only *maybe* one of which he deserved. I'm glad Chloe won over him in Season 2... Uli deserved it this time. It was total bull **** that Jeffrey won in season three, and I thought this would be her revenge... I was wrong.

Althea deserved to go. She was way, way, way out of her league, even for LA. Ari, though he "didn't sketch" had an interesting dress, which I liked. Not to mention, he was entertaining and I kinda liked him. Qristal's dress was good too... are the judges on crack? Christopher's dress was nice, though it kind of looked like he sewed it with a garbage bag. Johnny... ugh, his dress was kinda bland. But it says his fave designer is Alexander Mcqueen, so he has good taste so he can stay. For now. My current favorite is Irina. Her dress was simple without being bland. Everyone else, I could take them or leave them.

In the real fashion world, designers have to deal with an agency lying about a model's height and measurements. Ideal is 5'9"-5'11", 34-24-34. But if a girl is 5'8", or 6' then they might raise/lower the girl's height to make her more appealing to designers. Same if a girl has 35 or 36 inch hips, or on the other side, 32 or 33, the agency might put it at 34 so she'll get more jobs. Good designers are prepared for that, and can restitch it quickly to fit the model. REALLY good designers measure their models at the casting, so they can make the dress right without restitching it :lmao: But I guess they don't have that oppurtunity.

I did not like the red dress by Johnny. Thought the model looked like a flying squirrel coming down the runway.

:lmao:

Also-Johnny reminds me of another Project Runway contestant that would CRY in every friggin episaide-Remember him??

Did anyone notice Santino did not come out onto the runway to congratulate Daniel?

I wonder what happened there?

Can't believe Mitchell didn't get sent packing. But Malvin's outfit really was worse. He just didn't have a clue.

Ok guys, who the heck is Santino and Korto? I not good with names.:lmao:

Basically, I thought most of the outfits were pretty good. I was surprised.:thumbsup2

I would have preferred Mitchell to go even though egg man was weird.

Santino is the long haired dude that came out in 2nd place in Season 1 (or2) and was complaining LOUDLY about not winning-and still is!

Korto is the slightly chubby black woman that placed 2nd or 3rd in one of the more recent seasons and also has a "poor me, they wont let me win because I'm black" attitude (IMO)

Watching the old Seasons-if you can rent or buy the video is rather amusing.
:thumbsup2

Season One had this really nutsy woman-I think they called her "the Mother" who was really a trip.:rotfl2:

OK...I had not season the earlier season's so thanks for clearing that up.

The model show after PR was funny. The girl who got chosen by Mitchell got behind the screen and cringed before she went into the back. Everyone at the runway was laughing at her reaction. They even commented that you have to learn how to sew before you go on PR. I guess he can't sew. All of the models agreed that Mitchell is the worst designer.

Ha, watching it now. I agree with them. Mitchell should have went home FIRST as far as I am concerned.

Not being able to sew should be an out right away.

I thought it was funny, too. The models are being catty! I think I will continue to watch the models show also.

I can't believe Mitchell is still there. 2 in a row that was unwearable! Those shorts:headache:. Malvin had potential. I thought as a whole, they all did good for maternity wear. I loved that little baby blue dress.

I missed the Models show last night, I was just soooo tired after getting up at 5, did good to watch PR, but forced myself. Those shorts were horrendous and the T had issues too. The sweater was kinda cute. Overall, they did a good job for maternity wear. I have a PR dress to make for my DGD, hopefully it will be done in a couple of weeks, have something else I am working on for her now for our upcoming Disney trip!:laundy:

I think mitchell should have definitely gone- at least malvin has a vision! and can sew! Seriously, I could have made better shorts than mitchell did. How can you have someone on the show that sews so poorly!!!!!!

It was cute seeing all the girls pregnant. And I think the winning design def deserved it.

I still think dreadlock man is mediocre... he should go, soon.

Bring on the teamwork episode! I love those ones!

I think Malvin deserved to go - enough with the "concept" clothes! At least they've gotten rid of the two weirdest designers. At least Mitchell had a good idea and a good design, even if he couldn't execute it well. I guess I haven't figured out why you need to be able to sew well to be a good designer. If you're a designer, you can hire someone to make the garment!
