Princess Weekend 2023 (Feb 23-26, 2023)

The half and the Challenge are open as of 1:52 pm, if anybody's interested!
Tried repeatedly to change my registration and it wont let me pay. Tried a separate registration too and it won't let me and states I'm signed up for a different event. Its all wonky

Edited Update: I used a different email to register but used my account when logging in to change from the 10K to the challenge. Does anyone have the run Disney email to ask for the credit? Apparently the change registration link was broken and wouldn't let you acknowledge to registration pace box. TIA

Now I’m thinking of changing my costume for the 5k. Disney has so many great characters. Originally I’ve been planning a Tinkerbell mashup and have the skirt and top. Now I’m thinking Jessie the Cowgirl and can easily find stuff online for that outfit. The hat can be a red visor because I’m not running in a cowgirl hat…

Two questions:

For sunrise yoga, *everyone* had to take the bus or get a ride, right? So staying at the poly still means a bus there?

For the half, does having an epcot ticket so you can walk back through to Boardwalk or Beach Club save time over taking the bus? I assume it does, but I don't want to assume. I'm not speedy enough to finish when it's still closed to the public. :)

Thank you!

Can't speak to Yoga, but I can to cutting through Epcot as I often stay at BWV for races. Walking will likely take longer, unless there were some unforeseen delay with the bus. The buses are plentiful and don't often wait long before filling up. BWV tends to be the last drop-off point on the loop (Yacht/Beach, Swolfin, then BWV) but you can get off at Swolfin and cross the bridge if your room is on that end. Even with the full loop, it's maybe 15 minutes from the time you leave the Epcot parking lot. And you're sitting in air conditioning, if that matters to you. If you just want a nice, leisurely walk to shake your legs out but not walk the whole way, you could walk through the park and grab the Friendship boat at the World Showcase exit for the rest of the trip.

Edited because I just realized you may be trying to get to Poly? In that case, I'd walk up to the front of Epcot and jump on the monorail (no park ticket necessary), then walk from the TTC.

We stayed at the Poly this year the night before the princess yoga, and we simply walked over to the TTC from our room to check in for the yoga. Several others were doing the same. Taking the bus when we could simply walk over instead seemed pointless to us.

You were initially correct. So far I have a split stay, where we will be at poly for yoga then move to BW before the half.

And thank you for that info! Air conditioning is good.

Thanks for that info! Good news.

Interesting thing to note, I went in to look at my registration and what was editable and not (for a different thread), but there are new questions on the registration that weren't there when I initially completed it. Nothing that changes anything about my race itself. Just survey type questions like, "How many events have you done before?", "Are you staying on WDW property?", "Who is in your group of travel, and what age are the kids?".

It will be interesting to see which global princess week if they will tease medals for this before the marathon reveal

We just got home from our summer vacation - DCL to Alaska! We had a great time - but I came home with an unwelcome souvenir, first time with COVID.

Recovering and then excited to start planning our February trip! Kind of shocked to find Swan/Dolphin fully booked - but hoping something opens up. And need to start brainstorming family 5k costumers for me, DH, and 2 DD!

There could be a convention, as Swan/Dolphin are big convention hotels. But also check the Marriott site and Expedia for rooms. Expedia buys blocks of Disney rooms, so even when they appear sold out on the official site, you'll often find random Disney hotel rooms still available there.

Everything is getting booked so quickly! I have to quit being indecisive and book something.

I admit to liberally taking advantage of Disney's cancellation policy. I will book something, anything that I'd be OK with and then agonize over my final choice and cancel the first reservation. I don't want to be stuck with nothing.
Before the recent change to booking window, I would call a year ahead and just book at rack rate. Once I saw a better deal I would book another and eventually cancel that first one.

What is the cancelation policy like for DVC? Can people do the same for those?

It's complicated, but the easy answer is no, it's not the same. If you cancel 30 days out or less, points get put into holding with restrictions on how they can be used. And even if you cancel earlier than that, you can get "stuck" with extra points if they were banked or borrowed from another year. I'm an owner and don't rent points, but I would suspect there are some cancelation policies in place through the rental contract to protect the owner from these scenarios.

Also, DVC rates don't change. The points are set for the whole year in advance.

So it's less likely that DVC reservations will open up then?

Probably. But plans change, so someone who booked a trip and suddenly can't go may decide to rent it out instead of taking a points hit. You never know.

True. I'll keep checking. Thanks for the input!

Sorry this was a little OT. Back to your regularly scheduled programming!
