If we decided to purchase within the next few days, would we have a March UY?

We would most likely take two trips per year, one in October and one in March. I know we would have enough points for the October 2009 trip. How would we reserve the March 2010 trip? Would I be able to reserve on the anticipated amount of points that I would receive in March (assuming I reserve at 11 months) or would I have to skip that year's trip?

You should be able to purchase some resorts with a March Use Year thru DVC directly. Recently DVC has been allowing members to bank beyond the banking deadline so you may be able to still get points from the 2008 Use Year with a March UY. There may be some resorts without any March Use Year available - your DVC guide should be able to check to see what is currently available.

Members may reserve 11 months ahead at their Home Resort using points that would be available at that time. In the situation you describe above, you could use points from the 2010 Use Year as well as points banked from the 2008 Use Year and points borrowed from the 2011 Use Year.

A trip for March, 2010 may be reserved in April, 2009.

in april 2009 for your home resort or aug 2009 for another DVC resort.

like doc said, UY has nothing whatsoever to do with when you can book. UY month only affects when you can bank pts...which can be very important if you have to cancel. sounds like either a march UY or an oct UY would be best for you.
