Quick question...we will be staying at POFQ april 2-7 (hoping to add one more day!) as I understand they will be starting refurbing building 3 while we are there. Do they put guests in a building that they are working on at the same time?

:)We leave for POFQ in three days!! Can't wait!! Thinking about doing a carriage ride. Sounds fun. Will try to take as many pics as I can and post them.

on the way home from Alexis' cheer comp in Daytona we booked a one night stay at port orleans french quarter.. the kids didn't know till we pulled into disney we were going... i know what your saying "only 1 night..EEK!"
It was a last min added on to our beach trip.. besides we have a trip already booked and paid in full in May for a week.. so this one night was fine and was an extra bonus to the kids :)

we had never stayed at port Orleans before and we didn't know about the refurb. so we didn't ask for any room or building all My hubby Jason did was booked us a water view...

we pulled into the resort and checked in at 12:30 pm on sunday and our room was ready.. score!

Great pictures, Amanda. Your kids are adorable!! :)

DD17 & I will be at POFQ again in less than 2 weeks (OKW first, then moving to FQ)! :yay: When I was there in February, had a refurb'ed room in building 4 -- LOVED it!!!!

DGF and i are excited for our short 2-3 day trip to WDW. first time in FQ. we are arriving early march29, so hoping they have a room ready regardless if its a refurb...i just wanna get the day going!!! weather is starting to warm up a lot too....knock on wood.

I recently stayed at POFQ during a solo 3-night trip. Booked a king-room and lucked into a really nice, water-view, corner room in building 6. I really liked the refurbed enhancements, from the new TVs to the extra counter space around the bathroom sinks. It was very quiet in that building. And I love the compactness of the resort. Trips to food court were quick and easy. And the first night I walked along the river up to POR for dinner at their food court. It was a quick 8-minute walk...even shorter than I imagined. And that's where I bought one of the new refillable mugs. Woot!

Two small hiccups, very very minor. One, I forgot to bring my own ethernet cable like I usually do, so I was limited to the short cable behind the nightstand to plug into my laptop. Not really a big deal. I dragged the round table over by the bed so I could setup my laptop. Two, on my checkout day, there was no folio of charges hanging on my door handle. I had to stop by the front desk to pick up a copy. The CM apologized for the error and again, it was a minor thing.

Overall, POFQ has become my favorite resort at WDW! :goodvibes

The refurbishment of building 2 should be wrapping up this weekend if previous work is anything to go by. If anyone is going to be at POFQ over the weekend, could you let us know whether they start work on the final location (building 3) on Monday?

After just being sold on CSR, we booked a trip for Sept, and CSR wasn't available. We've stayed at POR a dozen times or more, and decided to try FQ for this trip. Looking forward to reading through this thread. I'm glad that all the rooms will be refurbished before our stay! Queen size beds were the initial draw that brought us to CSR. I think FQ will be the perfect match for my 6 year old!

I had initially booked at Pop for our May trip, but decided to upgrade to FQ when I found out about the refurb and the queen beds. :)

I'm sure you will be happy at FQ! There are advantages to staying there over Pop, and I think it's worth the extra money!!

We are staying at Pop in May for 2 nights, we like Pop. Sleeping will be a tight squeeze to get three of us in 1 bed. DS17 lucks out with his own bed. And for only 2 nights we can deal with it.

While I love CSR, FQ does offer some advantages for us...unless things have changed over the years, I should be able to use our Tables in Wonderland card at the food court and Scat Cat's Lounge. So that makes food more than 20% to 30% less at the food court, since there is no service charge to eat there. The water slide at CSR is better, but we will have access to 2 water slides and 7 pools, and 2 playgrounds staying at FQ. I think I'm starting to like the idea of staying at FQ!!

I'm sure we'll be happy there, too. :)

We've stayed at POR and loved it. We'll be getting brand new rooms, queen beds (the major factor) a larger room, smaller resort, two sinks, the boat to DTD, access to two pool slides and a fridge. :)

I didn't have to think too long about upgrading.

Yes, the TIW card still works there! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to our first stay at POFQ in July, also our first (hopefully) trip without the kids!

Quick question...we will be staying at POFQ april 2-7 (hoping to add one more day!) as I understand they will be starting refurbing building 3 while we are there. Do they put guests in a building that they are working on at the same time?

We were there in January and stayed in building 6 that was newly refurbed. They were working on building 4 at the time and I believe the entire building was closed to guests. They even closed off the walkways thru the building so we had to walk around the building to get to the bus stop.

It was a minor inconvenience, but the refurbed rooms were worth it!

I do have to say that we really loved FQ, and will likely be returning there in October. We enjoy touring the resorts, so have seen almost all of them now, except the completely DVC ones and the Allstars, which we will see in May. I truly think FQ is as pretty or prettier than the deluxes. I toured BC/YC, BWI, AKL, GF. Yes, there are benefits to the deluxes, especially in the closeness to the parks, but I felt like FQ was definitely as "nice" and quiet, well themed, etc. And really it seemed to me it only took MAYBE 5 minutes to HS area, so the bus rides were really easy and close too.
