I have a question about online check in, and for those who have done it for POFQ...

Our 10 days is tomorrow, and we are debating the online check in process.

What do you actually request? building location? anything else?

Do you get a room assigned at that time? is this the room you get when you arrive?

Would you recommend it? or just stand in the regular line when we get there?

ANY help with this, or general info, would be appreciated!!!

Its our first time at POFQ, and first time since they had the online check in. THANKS!!!

I used online check in last September. If I remember correctly, the only things you can request are ground floor, close to transportation, refridgerator, and pack n play. You can choose up to two of the above. No, the room is not assigned at that time. When you get to POFQ, you go to the online check in line and they already have all your material ready for you. We checked in early and our room wasn't ready, they told me which building we were going to be in, but not the actual room number. Once our room was ready they called my cell phone and told us the room number. We never had to go back to the front desk, we went straight to our room. I will probably do it again when we go back in Nov. There wasn't a line at either check in desk but I'm guessing if there was the online check in would go faster since they have all the information in a folder and just have to give it to you.
Have a fun trip!

Another benefit to online check-in is that you are able to give them your "estimated arrival time". I believe that helps the room assigners -- and I've found it very beneficial for those of us who arrive very early in the day! ;)

4 days till my next online check-in!! :yay:

since every room has a fridge, are you sure it wasn't something else?

Sorry, this is a really random question but does anyone know if POFQ or even POR sell the colored Mickey straws at the food courts (I think they are around .50 each)???!!!

I teach 4 and 5 year olds and thought that would be a great inexpensive thing to bring back for my 12 kids but I know not all resorts carry them.

I know at WL and the Values they sell them but I don't recall seeing them at CSR or Y&B last year. I know AKL doesn't sell them bc of the animals but I didn't know if POFQ or POR sold them...

PLEASE LET ME KNOW :) Thanks!!!

Yes - at the food court at POR for sure last week. Not sure on POFQ.:)

We're contemplating doing breakfast at either Boma (AKL) or Fresh (Dolphin) for my dad's birthday. From what I understand, the best (only?) bus option would be to take a bus to a park and then to the resort. So I want to compare the time vs. cost of taking a cab.

Does anyone know approx. prices of going from POFQ to AKL and POFQ to Dolphin via taxi?

Also, is there any option besides 2 taxis for a party of 7 (6 adults & 1 toddler)?

Your WDW transporations (free way to travel)

The no ticket option: BOMA at AKL.
Take the POFQ bus to AK , then from AK take the AKL resort bus (10 minute ride) to BOMA in AKL. Very nice buffet on Disney Dining Plans

The ticket option (entry to EPCOT): FRESH at Dolphin
Take the POFQ bus to EPCOT, tour EPCOT a bit.
Then walk to the boat docks in EPCOT by England, and either walk to the Dolphin (about a 15 minute walkon a side walk from the EPCOT boat dock or take the boat to the Swan/Dolphin boat stop to FRESH in Dolphin. If you have an AAA card you can get 20% off your entire check. Fresh has a wonderful selection of entrees.

Your choice - to use a park ticket or not - if you wish to use free WDW transportation.

Other option is a taxi to either resort - but for 7 people you will need a Mears van pre-reservation, which can cost you anywher from $20 to $50 :confused3. You could contact Mears, just call Bell Services which will connect you directly to Mears.

Well this thread did it! We were booked at CSR arriving 12/26/11 for a Christmas surprise for our son. Mostly because I wanted newer rooms and a queen bed. I was worried about the size of the resort though.

Well, saw this thread this morning, called and changed to POFQ! We stayed at POR our first Christmas trip and loved everything but the double beds. So I'm really looking forward to this. I've never stayed at POFQ but the reviews are always so positive!

Oh, and saved $35 too. :thumbsup2 Good news all around. Thanks for putting this thread together, and I look forward to reading everyone's reviews.

Couldn't you take the bus to Studios, not enter the park, but get on the boat to the epcot hotels and get off at BWI and walk to Dolphin?

It is a fridge, for sure. Since the same check-in form is used for all resorts and Values don't have fridges, that might be why. :confused3

All refurbed rooms have the fridge. Before refurb the fridge was an extra charge per day.

 I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. I have never paid for a fridge at a Moderate (at least not in the last 7 years). :confused3 The Values (Pop and the All Stars) do not have fridges and there is an extra charge for them - that's the only reason I could think of for why Online Check-in would have a refrigerator request. ;)

Just got back from our first ever stay at POFQ. I've now stayed at all of the mods and this was, by far, our favorite. So small, so quaint, so pretty......

We will definitely return to POFQ. Thanks so much for all of the information in this thread that made my decision so much easier.

Oh, and I forgot to add, that we were in building 1, room 1337. The room was refurbished and spotless.

You could walk over to POR and take the boat to DTD and hop on the AKL bus.

Pretty dicey in the morning; DTD buses don't start running until 9:00 and the water taxi doesn't run until 11:00 am.

In the morning, buses are busy taking people to the parks and they are only "deadheading" buses to DTD to the resorts. They will only send a bus if enough people are sitting at the appropriate stop for that resort. I have sat and waited up to 45 minutes for a bus for another resort.

It is much better coming back, because the water taxis are running much more frequently in the evening.

Also, you don't have to walk over to POR; POFQ has a stop for the water taxi as well.

just completed an online check in for my stay in march29-31. i did everything except "add a credit card"...should i go back and complete that? will it slow down the check in time??

If you don't add a credit card now, they will have to swipe the card when you check in; so shouldn't slow you down more than a couple seconds! ;)
