My husband has a conference and we planned to stay at Hilton Grand Vacation Club at Seaworld for the conference. But we really want to stay on site at WDW Properties. The only place available at this time for all days is POR. Has anyone stayed at both places? I'd like some input on what is nicer, more enjoyable. We have three daughters ages 12, 9 and 7. We plan to do 6 days of WDW parks, no Seaworld (we have one here in San Antonio).

We loved the POR. Great Resort with beautiful grounds. Never stayed at the Hilton, but the POR is a very good choice for families. We stayed in the mansion section and were close to the transportation ( a definite plus) and loved the food court for our morning coffee.

We stayed at the Hilton last year with 3 kids and loved it. It really felt like a resort, not just a hotel. My parents took us with them using their fiesta americana points. We had a two bedroom suite and loved having a living area with kitchen. I was worried about being so far away from disney but with a car it was fine. We are going to go again next year and hopefully stay at the BC. I am very excited to stay on property but it will be interesting to see if we can handle five of us in one room for a week.

HGVC will give you more space to spread out and has great amenities. It a timeshare property and has big "apartment" type units much like a Disney DVC unit. I have friends that stay at HGVC every summer and they love it. The drive to the parks don't bother them at all.

Will you have your own car? Will you spend your full day in the parks or plan on taking mid-day breaks back at the resort? Consider how you will plan out your days.

POR is also a good choice for families. The grounds are beautiful and of course, it's on Disney property. If you are planning to spend most of your vacation time in the parks then I would go for POR for the perks of being "on-property" like EMH and the convenience of Disney transportation. IMO, there is always extra magic when you stay at a Disney resort. My kids just love those Disney wake-up calls!

Wow, good responses! We have the two bedroom suite at HGVC and I was looking forward to that extra room. We do plan to stay at the parks from open to close (we don't break). My husband really wants to stay on site, so when he goes to conferences, we can be close to the parks. We will have a rental car. Is HGVC nice enough to make up for not being on site? We're not in our room that much, so I think I can handle either place, just wondering if HGVCat Seaworld is a lot nicer.

With three kids you may enjoy the extra space a HGVC two bedroom offers. It's always nice for the kids to be able to go into the other room and watch their own TV. The HGVC villas also have full kitchens and washer/dryers in each unit. It's a nice perk.

You really will have a great time staying at either place. If you're having doubts then stay on property at POR. No one ever regrets staying on-property.

We have stayed at POR as a family of 5, 2 seniors, one adult, and two kids. We never really felt "crowded" but we didn't spend much time in the room except for just sleeping. If you plan to spend lots of time in the park, POR would probably be good because you get to take advantage of EMH. I don't know about the other place so I can't compare, we've only stayed at POR and I'm not sure I could convince anyone in our family to stay anywhere else! Even my Disney crazed children said they'd rather "wait and save up for POR" than go sooner and stay at SoG. :confused3
